New sebronia

New Sebronia takes action

As a member of the IGP, New Sebronia has decided to also send peacekeeping forces into the Khemmi War. The sebric forces consist of 4 regiments of the 3rd Division of the SFGL, also known as "Desert Corps", a division specialized in combat in deserts and savannas, trained in the Elskermi semi-desert in New Sebronia.

The 3rd Div. I. Regiment "Admina" and
3rd Div. IV. Regiment "Demina"
will be stationed near the refugee zone south of Saka for further protection of the civilians.

The command over
3rd Div. V. Regiment "Warmina" and
3rd Div. VII. Regiment "Posmina"
will be given to the excellent leadership of the Lethian forces.

Plattinum and Torvon

Although we are not a part of IGP, Whamt will take action and send support, although it will be to the republic. This support we be leased to the republic and sent by tomorrow.
it will include:
10,000 rifles,
2,000 light machine guns,
500 armored cars,
the W.S. Kraken (light destroyer)
and any volunteers that are willing to help fight in this war they will be composed in to 2 divisions:
1st desert infantry division- 5,000 men, 100 troop transports, 100 AS guns
3rd armored division- 2,000 men, 200 light tanks, 175 APC's

Although the volunteers will only be sent once the republic officially declares the end off chemical weapon use and other atrocities intentionally done by their forces.

Khemmi

Alenian Peacekeeping forces arrive in Khemmi

The forces of the Divine Army allocated to the Khemmi peacekeeping mission have finally arrived in the area of conflict. Deployed with the rest of the IGP forces, they will assist in the protection of civillians.

intentions
Whamt asks what the intention of these "peacekeeping" soldiers are, are they here solely to help civilians or will they be involved in combat? If they are in combat, which side do they fight for? And if they are truly and purely for civilians what is their need for such heavy armaments, although my troops are also equipped with some heavy weapons, these troops are claiming to come in peace.

Official Governmental Message

The government of Plattinum has noticed some doubts from the Democratic Republic of Whamt in relation to the nature of the forces sent by the Initiative of Global Peace (IGP) to the disputed territories of the Khemmi. The mission of those soldiers is very clear, and is to protect the civilians from both Khemmian states at war from potential damage, we do not as an organization support any particular side, and will condemn any intentional agression towards the Khemmian people by either side, as for the equipment our forces use, we need to make sure our soldiers can defend themselves in case of attack by the warring states or any other potential faction that spawns in the area, and with the help of various types of air force and armored vehicles like armored cars and helicopters we can evacuate civilians from areas in which battles are taking place faster and more safely, thus making the task of protecting the local population much easier, we hope this has answered any questions your government had.

I thank you for replying, as I don't want my troops firing on neutral forces purely there to help the civilian populous. My troops will be told specifically not to fire on IGP forces and will be disciplined via dishonorable discharge if your forces are fired upon. I would also like to let you know that we don't support the heinous acts done to the civilian population of khemmi which is why we are not sending any soldiers or heavy vehicles until the republic formally agrees to stop using chemical weapon and other horrible weapons.

Valcourian Senate approves Social Media Law that silences dissent
Thomas Knapp

BAINBRIDGE - The Valcourian Senate formally approved a new social media law this morning that critics say will create a “chilling effect” on dissenting voices who have resorted to social media and other online platforms as the government tightened its grip on mainstream media.

The law was backed by the Emperor and his nationalist allies in the ruling Crossfire Party to make foreign social media sites more accountable. It requires them to appoint a local representative to address authorities’ concerns.

The law would allow Valcourian authorities to remove content from platforms rather than blocking access as they have done in the past.

Companies that do not comply could have their bandwidth slashed by up to 90%, essentially blocking access, and face other penalties.

They must also store local users’ information in Valcouria, raising concerns that the state will gain easy access to all sorts of information.

An estimated 90% of major media in Valcouria comes under the ownership of the state or is close to the government.

Valcourians are already heavily policed on social media and the new regulations, especially if user data is vulnerable, will have a “chilling effect”, said Francis Fencer, a cyber rights expert and professor at Bainbridge University.

“This will lead to identifying dissenters, finding who is behind parody accounts and more people being tried. Or people will stop using these platforms when they realize this,” he said.

The Emperor has recently begun criticizing social media and said a rise of “immoral acts” online was due to a lack of regulation. His Crossfire Party says the law will not lead to further censorship and that it aims to protect personal rights and data.

Valcouria was second internationally in social media-related court orders in the first six months of 2019, and it had the highest number of other legal demands from several major social media platforms.

Grand Chancellor Montgomery said social media companies would need to comply with every request from authorities including accessing user data and content removal that they currently do not accept.

Representatives of multiple social media platforms were not immediately available to comment on the bill, which only requires the Emperor's approval to become law.

Whamt opposes this oppressive bill, and the government is planing to pass a 10% tariff on all goods imported from valcouria. Trades with valcouria will also be more limited and immigration will be easier for the oppressed valcourian people.

The Republic Declares its Neutrality in Foreign Conflicts:

The President Ander starget has said this in the koinsberg presidential palace today at 13:00 pm:-

"We the Neferheimer's are among one of the poorest peoples of the world but it doesnt means that we arent developing or arent stable, We are among the nations which have overthrown their oppresive regimes and have gone on the paths of democracy and liberty. Many nations may say that we are poor and our economy will take years to get better and they may be right. But they are wrong about our stability and our freedom. Every Neferheimer citizen has the right to critizize or praise me and has the freedom to express his or her views and i also support them on that.

Yes we are on a very difficult economic situation with the growth of only 2.7% a year but we are surely on the right track. We currently have peaceful diplomatic trade relations with several nations and we will surely maintain that.

And on concerning foreign politics. Neferheim is not gonna participate in any foreign wars rather than peacekeeping missions or humanitarian aids and will not be the aggressor of any conflicts.

I also want to tell the leadership of Jaqinda that the republic is open to do diplomatic talks concerning this recent deteriorating relations of our two nations."

After review of Imperial records, it does not appear that there are any trade agreements between the Empire and Whamt; consequently, any attempted 'embargo' has no effective purpose.

When we said trade we meant all types of trade, like your independent, non government owned businesses. You should also see it as a diplomatic insult.

However, the spokesperson said that the regiment won't be sent in until the Republic cleans up its act by stopping the use of chemical weapons and stops doing other acts that breach international law. Also, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has placed a travel ban on Khemmi for the current civil war happening in the nation.

Representatives of multiple social media platforms were not immediately available to comment on the bill, which only requires the Emperor's approval to become law.

In a press statement before national media today, High King Albricht has firmly denounced the censorship bill in Valcouria, declaring that a 'stifling of the voices of freedom in one nation' was an affront to the 'voices of freedom everywhere'. He went on to declare that, though Lethia and Valcouria have had little relations internationally, this has 'definitely harmed any chances for a future relationship' and that he holds hope the Emperor shall 'see the light of democracy, free speech and liberty' to repeal the bill before it passed into law.

His view has been seconded by the Kingsmoot, in a surprising unanimous decision, and the Landsmeet is expected to follow with a statement of their own. Many in Lethia itself see it is an affront, though most state that it is the strong Lethian tradition of freedom that influences their view, and not any sort of politics. On social media, Lethian citizens have made clear their voices with the '#BoycottValcouria' and while, again, it is expected to have little real economic impact on both the censorship of Valcourian voices, and the economic prospects of either nation, many see it as an appropriate way to vent their anger.

An insult, perhaps. But not one at this time worth avenging.

The Imperial Government is wary of the Lethian King's undesired intrusion into the Empire's internal affairs, but has issued the following rebuttal to his statement:

'His Majesty's Government remains committed to ensuring the highest quality of life for Imperial citizens, but has come to recognize the implicit threat that post-modern anti-intellectualism. This new proposed law will see to it that such misinformation is curtailed and stifled to prevent undesired outcomes in the Imperial population.' - Interior Minister Octavia Dollarhyde

The widespread Lethian public response is also being observed by Imperial officials, and may cause diplomatic trouble for the two countries should they attempt to bridge their divides in the future.
