Canmara wrote:The New Slave Deal

President Yusev, seeing that killing off the Garnelians would be pointless, instead brings up a new idea. Slavery.

"Citizens of Canmara. I know earlier today I have brought up the idea of ending the lives of these Garnelian immigrants, but instead of continuing the extermination of their people in Canmaran lands, I have devised a better - more humane approach. I have persuaded Congress to legalize slavery. The law only focuses on the slavery of Garnelians. Interbreeding with Garnelians would be proclaimed illegal as it is immoral. Those who bare a child with a Garnelian will be prosecuted, the Garnelian will be executed, and the child will be eliminated before it could be born. If the child exceeds labor, it will then be brought into slavery and be made chemically infertile.

Garnelian breeding companies are permitted, under minimal government regulation. A basic license to breed is all that is required. Of course these slaves will be entitled to rights. They must be given food, modern living conditions, recreational time, bathes, and a place to freely practice their religion - that is our religion of course. I will also make it so that they can only be working a certain amount of hours, so they may have time to rest and take care of themselves. They may be sold and bought from other parties. However, the purchase of a Garnelian may only occur to another Canmaran native, resident, and citizen. This is to prevent any Garnelians in their homeland from buying their peoples' freedom, and even their government.

I am very aware that Garnelians may have a small impact, if any, in regards to the current virus. However, they must pay for their sins for ruining our land we fought so hardly to protect and preserve. It is them who need to pay to reside in our gracious fields and pray at our churches, and breathe the same air as us. I may assure you that they will be treated fairly, but the cost of their feet on our clay is servitude. If anything, I should be thanked that no more Garnelians will parish. So many Garnelians have been perished in so many ways, but this is the only fair option I have."

Hyiyron becomes strongly displeased...this simply will not do anymore...it’s one thing to force them out of their new homes but to enslave them goes against the teachings of Sommerzeitenschaft entirely! An ultimatum is instead made “return the garneli home to Garnel or else regrettable actions will be done”

Yusganda wrote:Chief Yango of Yusganda frowns on Canmara for how it treats Garnelians, but offers a hand in friendship for Garnel during these troubled times. He understands the basic premise of the Rights and Nations, so he must respect it. However, Yusganda will still condemn such actions, and render all possible trade with Canmara to be prohibited. Chief Yango offers friendship and trade to Garnel. Yusganda appreciates all wonders and items from across the known world, as well as respects the many cultures that populate this region.

A translator speaks on behalf of Chief Yango, for his is still trying to learn 'Common'.

"I acknowledge that Yusganda is a brand new nation, and doesn't really have much weight in means of world affairs such as this, but I have personally witnessed slavery - my family was token away from me when I was a child, and it has left be alone - scared. Many of my people have been targeted. Even though Canmara may be more powerful, and advanced nation despite is rural lifestyle, Yusganda will not respect the nation for its crimes. I understand the Rights of Nations, and so I know every nation may run themselves how they please so long as such affairs remain in their border. However, Garnel needs a friend who understands them and what they're going through. As a gift of a beginning friendship, understanding, and healing; I will bestow a traditional Yusgandan blanket you can meditate with, a custom made vase made by my wife, and a friendship necklace. I hope that you accept this gift, and consider trading with us. Thank you."

Hedra wrote:King Tobias replies.

“I am sorry to hear about your fallen relatives, I will be praying for their souls. Regarding your invitation to Hyperborea, I accept it and will try my best to find a suitable bride among your people.”

After replying the Kaiser, King Tobias made his way to Vostag. He landed with bodyguards and assistants to find a suitable bride for himself, he went through many security procedures so he is protected from this coronavirus. The press asked him if he was going to meet the Kaiser, the King answered.

“I do not wish to bother the Kaiser with my desires, he is a busy man and has more important things to do. I am here as a Hedran citizen not a monarch in
official duties.”

He spent a few days in the capital so he could get to know the daily life of the common Hyperborean citizen. Later on he would travel around Vostag in search for his bride. After days travelling he found her in a province further south from the capital, she is a daughter of a wealthy man in the region and she is called Elys.

She is tall with fair skin and rosy cheeks, her hair is straight and black and her eyes are purple in color hinting a possible Hedran heritage. The king fell in love right away, she had everything that he was looking for in a wife, she is an intellectual, has opinions of her own and very elegant. It was only a matter of time until the king proposed and soon after he did so. The couple announced their engagement and later returned to Hedra and were received by a massive crowd cheering the new couple. Later that day Elys made a public announcement.

“I am grateful to be welcomed in Hedra with such delight and excitement. First I would like to say that I will dedicate my whole life, whether it be long or short, to the benefit of the Hedran people. Your welcome only reinforced the things that my fiancée had told me about this wonderful place and I look forward to be your queen.” The crowd cheers. “I also send the best wishes to all my friends and family in Vostag, I thank you all the support you have given me in my decision and I am sure that we will see each other again. My marriage will represent a strong connection between Hedra and Vostag, two great nations that truly admire each other. Once again I want to thank you, Hedrans, for giving me all of your love and support. Thank you all and God bless.” The crowd cheers as she finishes her speech and kisses King Tobias.

OOC: Just FYI. Titles of nobility are illegal in Vostag under the constitution. The King's fiancee would know this being a Hyperborean citizen. It presents an ultimatum to her. Get married and accept a title and be forced to renounce her Hyperborean citizenship or get married and not take a title and therefore have dual citizenship in Hedra and Hyperborea.

President Yusev sighs, "You don't seem to understand, but your ultimatum is meaningless. Under the Rights of Nations I may do as I please with my people. Since these Garnelians immigrated and became citizens of Canmara, they are considered subjects of Canmara. The laws of the land only extend in the jurisdiction of ones own nation, and thus your ultimatum is invalid. I thought you'd appreciate me preserving your people's heritage, and protecting them from the outside forces. You did lose a lot of your people during Vostag's siege on Garnel, it wouldn't be wise to through more men into the grinder if you catch my drift. Canmara is a very dangerous place to invade. Every citizen is armed ten-fold, and are willing to die to preserve their nation they so love. Especially if they are getting invaded by simple Garnelians - it'd be a blood bath. Additionally, Canmara has exclusive trade deals with Tritra, Velkisa, and Sovern. They are players that will try to sustain a calm and stable trade route. If say such turmoil were to happen, they will see Garnel as an aggressor who is damaging their trade. I can't really say much for Tritra and Velkisa, but Sovern definitely doesn't play when it comes to trade, and everyone in Barbaria knows it.

To Be, Or Not To Be?

After her speech to the Hedran people, Elys sits with her fiancee and his advisors.

“The speech that I have just made brings up a really important to question for me to decide. Should renounce my Hyperborean citizenship and be declared queen or deny the title and become a queen?” Elys asks the whole room.

“Well ma’am...” says one of the advisors. “By Hedran tradition the King’s consort is granted the title of queen and all that comes with it.” The other advisors nod.

“It is up to you my love, I shall love you the same way, whether you are granted the title or not.” King Tobias says smiling while holding her hand in comfort.

“By accepting the title I would renounce the citizenship of my homeland but be in accordance with the Hedran tradition. By refusing it I would break with centuries old tradition but still retain the citizenship to the land that was my home since I was born. I shall retire to my chambers to think about it.” She stands, bows to them and leaves the room thinking.

King Tobias, frustrated, orders his advisors to leave the room so he can think. The King writes a letter to Kaiser Odinson of Vostag.

“Dear Kaiser Odinson,

As you know, I am engaged to a Hyperborean citizen and by your laws she is forbidden to be granted the title of ‘queen’. Since I am not familiar with your laws, I would like to know if there are any type of titles that could be granted to her, perhaps high ranking ones.

Sincerely, King Tobias Karl I of Hedra”

"Canmara is a beneficial trade partner to Sovern, and Garnel is considered a friend to Sovern. It is suggested that both parties see reason, and cease any hostility. Canmara is correct on his part because the Rights of Nations does say it may do with its people as he sees fit and an immigrant becoming a citizen still applies to that. However, I can understand Garnel's perspective on this and in so I must not side with either party, but lay claim that any hostility that comes about will be intervenes by Sovern. Garnel, Fallih, and Canmara are important trade partners in that part of the world, and if any infringing occurs, it could harm Sovern's interests. If such pressures continue and trade is negatively affected, I will have no choice to lay my own ultimatum, and it would not be fair for either conflicting party. I urge each one of you to respect each other's sovereignty, cease any hostility, and find a common ground." President Vinn addresses to the Canmaran-Garnelian Conflict.

IC: Kaiser Odinson replies.

"Unfortunately no. One of the reasons for the Foundation war was because of the government granting titles. We did away with royalty a long time ago. Some of our government offices use such old titles as names for offices but they are not royal and cannot be appointed as if they were. It is ingrained in every Hyperborean from a young age about what trouble royal titles wrought. The blood that was shed as a result. I'm sorry but we aren't a monarchy we're a republic. That's just how it is. I can't go against the Hyperborean constitution."

King Tobias replies.

“I completely understand and thank you for explaining me.”

After the message is sent, Elys summons him and other members of his staff for a small press conference addressing the issue of assuming the title of queen.

Elys takes the podium and starts her speech.

“After much thought and analysis I have made my decision. I choose to renounce my Hyperborean citizenship in favor of being a queen for the Hedran people. This may mean that I am no longer a legal citizen of the Hyperborean Empire but I still love and admire my homeland, my heart shall be divided between my birthplace and my new home. I made this decision based on the centuries old Hedran tradition that all Hedrans are familiar with, I only wish the best for every single one of them. To the ones I have left behind in Vostag, keep in mind that I still cherish and keep you all in my heart. Thank you.”

She bows head and signs a document renouncing her Hyperborean citizenship.

SIC: Kaiser Odinson reads the newspaper while on his way to a military demonstration at a remote and top-secret military base at a remote location. He reads the days upload of news to the electronic paper. He reads the articles about Tritra and Canmara engaging in slavery. He shakes his head and then begins to speak aloud to his advisors and military personnel on traveling with him.

"Can you believe two modern nations are taking the step backwards to slavery? Slavery is a failed economic policy and failed means of production. Machines can out produce slaves every time. That's usually one of the main reasons most industrialized nations stop slavery. That and claimed violations of human rights. I mean slavery is legal in Vostag, but it is so heavily regulated and outmoded as a means of production that it's no longer done here."

Kaiser Odinson folds up the newspaper and lays it in the seat beside him in the Vert-i-bird.

"I'm less surprised about Canmara doing it. They are a younger more agrarian society. It's Tritra I'm surprised about. But then again there's always something with Tritra when it comes to government or economic policy."

Kaiser Odinson puts his suit jacket and sunglasses on as the convertiplane lands on a long desert airstrip in front of a lone, large, metal hangar beside which is an air-traffic control tower standing just a story taller than the hangar.

Kaiser Odinson and his entourage of advisors and military personnel step out onto the runway.

"Alright Admiral Armquist. Let's get this show on the road. I got a planet on fire that I gotta stoke the flames of today." Says the Kaiser.

Grand Air Admiral Armquist steps out in front of the group, "Yes sir. Thanks for coming out here today. You are aware the Air Force has been working on the V7 program for close to 80 years now along with the connected Bell project, Vril project, and Victalen project. All with the goal of developing a fully functional flying saucer aircraft. This program has been top secret since the start. We few here are the only people on Earth who can confirm the existence of the V7 program and of what we are about to see today."

The hangar doors open out rolls a strange aircraft in the shape of a flying saucer.

"Now I know that we've had a few... incidents... where we've had to cover things up. The Rockwell incident being the first, but luckily urban legends of aliens have helped out with that. After a number of incidents, field tests, and troubleshooting we think we’ve finally got it in good working order.” Says Air Admiral Armquist gesturing towards the saucer.

“We finally just did away with the experimental gravitoelectromagnetic power system and went with a standardized fusion core like the rest of the military force. It was discovered that the GEM power system just caused too many problems to work out; power surges, power loss, lightning strikes, & etc. With the fusion power source, we can balance power the needs of all systems. In fact, we did a field test just a few weeks ago on a Lemurian submarine that was our most successful yet.

The lenticular shape of the craft allows it superior flight characteristics at supersonic and hypersonic speeds as well as to take advantage of the coanda effect. The repulsine disk turbines to produce the proper airflow for the coanda effect coupled with the mercurial drive using rotating mercury plasma to use the earth’s own magnetic field allow the craft to obtain flight. The craft is equipped with an array of conventional and nonconventional weapons most of which have lethal and nonlethal modes of use. Now the saucer and its unique drive system make it perform best at lower altitudes. This coupled with the speed characteristics, and stealth technology incorporated into the hull allow it to remain stealthy even when in full afterburner or firing upon targets. The second hardest problem besides the power issues was by far the hull construction. The hull had to be made of an alloy that was light enough for flight yet strong enough to face the strains of high heat from supersonic flight coupled with the rigors of combat. But that has been solved with the new Victalen-4 alloy which is appearing to be one of the best alloys for aircraft created by metallurgists since Saturnite”

After Air Admiral Armquist ends his presentation the saucer demonstrates its capabilities. The demonstration is but an inkling of the events reported by the rescued Lemurian sub crew.

Thoroughly impressed by the display Kaiser Odinson speaks with Air Admiral Armquist.
“Admiral. You have my approval. I want these things to begin conducting strategic, tactical operations immediately. It has to remain top secret though. Possible aliens attacking the Lemurians is good propaganda which is good for everybody.” Kaiser Odinson signs a tablet and then shakes the Admiral’s hand.

OOC: Yes. Any and all sightings of UFOs in the Barbarian universe have been top secret aircraft tests by the Hyperborean Air Force.

All citizens in Sovern are mandated to own a semi-automatic rifle of some kind, but keep it in their home for emergencies or hunt food. Citizens are permitted from barring concealed weapons, but they have to be given a license after training with a government program. Sovern doesn't want its citizens to NOT know how to use a gun, rather than not have a gun at all.
