In my many years I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.

Hello im selling a legendary "The Bruce" card. If anybody is interested name your price.
There's already a bid for 18.50. I just don't know if it's worth much more than that. BTW, whatever you do, do not try to intervene in the ongoing auction. That's just Mikeswill moving it from his puppet.
Got it thanks for the info
What auction?
Nevermind
The Bruce is on the auction. But you already see it - I see you are selling. If you are lucky, somebody will bid more on your card. But if you look at recent sales, they were not much higher, and some were lower. The highest ones were usually just internal transfers involving puppets. If I thought a price above 18.50 were a really good value, I would bid myself. But I don't think so.
Got it thank you and one last thing. How can you get a puppet
You just create another nation. Technically, it's not a puppet. But people often think of one nation as their "main" and others as puppets.
Got it
That quote is from a theatrical musical production and not from any known published work of Adams. Generally authentic quotes from famous historical people are found in their writings since there wouldn't be any recordings to rely upon. Short of their own writings you'd find them in official public records but even those were rare before the nineteenth century.
What theatrical production gave us that great quote?
Looks like it was from 1776, a broadway musical from 1969. Looking at actual quotes, attributable to John Adams, I would say this line is pretty on brand for him.
"No man who ever held the office of president would congratulate a friend on obtaining it. He will make one man ungrateful, and a hundred men his enemies, for every office he can bestow."
John Adams (actual quote from 1825)
I try not to be too pedantic about this--it is the internet after all--so I ordinarily don't even look into citations such as those attributed to people such as the American founding fathers. But the cite about the "law firms" sounded wrong not only because it was stylistically at odds with anything I've read of John Adams but because there were no law firms as we call them in colonial America.
Also John Adams was a lawyer. And Adams promoted the Alien and Sedition Act so probably not the guy most Americans these days would identify with.
