That film is the perfect storm of comedy and the Marx Brothers best film IMHO. It was too bad that Irving Thalberg passed. Who knows what other possibly great films they could have done together.
Do you all think this regional banner is an improvement over the previous one? I was just thinking that the old one was a bit dreary, though this one might be an over-correction...
I like the banner, perhaps the flag doesn't quite match though - Need to get some elves from the wrapping department to look at it - They know matching patterns with pretty ribbons, bows and other decorations.

Just a thought, but in today's world, there is hardly any coal to be placed in undeserving children's stockings. What serves instead?

Sure, I could see if I can come up with something. I don't have a way to replicate Little St Nick's text-pictures (or whatever those were called), just so you know. Though, with the addition of regional banners, I suppose they're less necessary than before...
Ha. My first thought is that Santa potentially maintains a Strategic Coal Reserve at the North Pole, and this might see him through any foreseeable shortage. But then, it does seem like the World Naughtiness Quotient is just continuing to rise, so this may cancel out the benefits provided by the reserve, if the need for more coal increases as projections show it might.
I suppose batteries might serve as a substitute for coal in your stocking. Though, that seems almost too useful... Maybe some of the less-useful types, like a watch battery?
Alternatively, leaving aside the "fuel" category and embracing the common and the useless nature of what coal represents, but for our modern world, I might choose obsolete phone chargers. Or a bunch of rolled up plastic grocery bags. Or, at this point, disposable face masks.

Ohhh. I never thought about that. Even Santa should do his part to help save the planet. I've got a few ideas off hand. Could try some variation of coal (on a chemical level) so maybe a little graphite. Or... Could try the alchemists favourite trick which is getting something cheap then doing some chemical reaction on it to make it look like coal.
Regardless I will give this some thought and get back on this in a few days time.
I like your idea of using a mineral variant. Graphite somehow seems especially appropriate.
However, I love the idea of Santa's Workshop having an alchemy lab within it, more than you can know :)

I've had the most scathing brilliant idea.. since we are drowning in an overabundance of used packaging materials, the foam "peanuts" could be recycled and substituted for the coal. It could be called "Snowman Poop".

I overlooked your above quote about packing peanuts. Also a very good substitute for coal. But I love the nickname of "snowman poop" for them. Quite good. Or maybe "reindeer pies," along the lines of those infamous "cow pies" one may find in the country?
