Thanks! It's a bit over two and a half years, wow, time flies. I was a fresh-faced 19 year old then, newly libertarian, hadn't been involved with the party at all.

I used to hold the key to "the law of libertatem" but I don't have it anymore.. does anyone else know the login to restore the nation so that the link on the WFE isn't useless anymore?

One of the sweet elderly ladies attends a Sunday school class with us. Before the class started, she spoke in a voice that sounded like regret, "I helped tear down a statue back in high school."
The Sunday School group all turned to look at her.
She then beams with a smile, "Well, it was Jubilation T Cornpone after our Lil'Abner play."
80 years strong and still a ham.

Covid-19 especially targets church goers, bar hoppers, trump rallies, and independent thinkers who love Liberty,,,

It totally ignores rioters, arsonists, insurrectionists, and bigots who call everyone who disagrees with their prejudiced closed-mindedness, the very racists the tenets of which they themselves espouse.

I heard that some of Trump’s staff tested positive.

Heres an idea, how about we cut funding to these schools from elementary on up that teach that America sucks and western ideals of faith, honor, and service are bad. How about we teach students that despite our mistakes the west and the usa in particular have been a bastion of freedom and prosperity. Maybe the next generation then wont believe in the lies of Marxism which to this day kills and enslaves people.

What's this thing about wearing a mask in America? Afaik scientists don't agree on how useful they really are

It's not completely agreed how effective they are, but its mostly for keeping it from spreading rather than not getting it

It started with the Lone Ranger and got out of hand with Batman... :)

The US is/has been all over the board with what they say about mask wearing. The CDC at first were saying don't -- it won't help; while some independent doctors were saying to wear one. Then the powerbrokers were all saying to lock down and wear masks, until the Soros induced riots, and then they and media got quiet about wearing them. I wear a mask when visiting immunocompromised/elderly and then incinerate it afterwards. Other than that I don't really care.

The CDC has been liars lying about the lies they were promoting to the point I am utterly disgusted with them. A good physician is hard to find. They are being replaced by federalized medicine industrial complex hawkers of the status quo masquerading as doctors while pushing pills and the latest bureaucratic policies from pharmaceutical lobbyists.

America doesn't have varied medical professions that practice medicine and healing in the classical sense anymore. It is more of a kludge of a medicinal sickcare maintenance scheme propped up by Congressional interference. Want pills to forget your ills? Check. Want to be well enough to not need them? Sorry, you cannot escape. One way or another you pay (either through taxes, insurance, or decreased productivity) for everyone else but yourself.

***anecdote alert***
My paternal grandfather was 10 when the Spanish Flu went thru. He had to take a horse drawn trolley to school (40 minutes) the next town over. The Flu was so bad that the trolley tracks between towns had mule carts on the side stationed in between so that when a body died they would just dump the body over onto the cart as it went by. On the worst day of it, my grandfather saw 5 people drop dead in the car he was in alone. All they really had was bleach and sunshine to fight it with. Covid-19 is a SARS and MERS type virus, but its societal effects are more akin to the Hong Kong Flu of the late 60s, and nowhere near as bad as Spanish Flu.
***end anecdote alert***

In the 80s and 90s we had nearly a dozen extended family who lived in or around King County (Seattle) Washington. As of 2020, we only have one family still there. The horror stories he tells as though that kind of life is "normal" makes me feel sorry for him.

What're some good criticisms of The Confederate States of America besides slavery from a Libertarian perspective? On the surface, a Confederal style of government seems inherently freer than a Federal style.

I'm already aware of the protectionism that was rampant in the South, and I'm also aware that several founders of the American Socialist and Labor parties were Southerners that shed their racism.

How do I square what seems to me to be the most individualist, rebelious, part of the country in terms of culture, with these facts? I'd like to take a course on the American South, but it wouldn't go towards my major and I'm suspicious it'd be riddled with propaganda.

Taxonomy
One of the greatest was the taxonomic changes. Before the civil war a confederacy was supposed to have a stronger central government than than a federal government. federal = federation.

The rub is that America is also a Union. The North seized the concept to impose Nationalization of the Federal Government not just over the 17 specific elements, but using the elastic clause to glob undelegated powers from all sources. Before the Civil War it was these United States. After the Civil war it was this United States. (Our Civil War was actually a Revolutionary War, as the United States was no longer a United Federation with a singular representative State (DC), but a Federal Union with a national state of the State (The Federal Government itself)).

The South needed to call itself something so it made a callback to the American Confederacy of the American Revolution. Before the Civil War the Confederacy had a stronger centralized governance Executively and Legislatively, but not Judicially. After the Civil War the North Federal Government had stronger powers all around and consolidated its claim with the Reconstruction. The concepts of a Federal Government having more centralization than a Confederacy has been set by this accident of history.

What was wrong with the Confederacy
The Confederacy was proto-Marxist in a loose American Christian Democrat sense but not an a Atheistic Marxist way -- although an actual Marxist revolution with all the hate, bigotry racism, that comes with Marxism, and lack of industry would have been very easy to accomplish. All the problems that have plagued the Democratic Party were intensified since the Democratic Party was ascendant (the party of chattel slavery, anti-equality, anti-13th Amendment, anti-Civil rights acts, pro-Jim Crow, pro-KKK, pro-segregation, pro-serfdom, pro-Socialist, anti-personal liberty.

There was a 3rd Great Awakening that went through the South in the 50s and 60s. Orthodox Christians hold that there is only one race, human (and any racial distinctions are cultural and familial). But the South gravitated to the racism taught in the social sciences of the time that Whites were evolutionary superior to other races. While they were anti-intellectual, they prided themselves on picking and choosing from the sciences what supported their prejudices.

The Confederacy was Anti-Intellectual (in the american sense) in general.

The South was adamant that Chattel Slavery was justified because of the scientifically proven superiority of Whites on one hand, and that God allowed it on the other --even though chattel slavery as practiced by the South is forbidden in Leviticus and the science to which they noted (what became known as Eugenics and Social Darwinism) was absolutely refuted by the end of WW2, but had standing in Academia until then.

They did not believe that Equality applied to all human beings. (Some people are more equal than others).

They did not believe that rights were inalienable.

They believed in poll taxes and direct taxation of the Citizenry which Federalists, Republicans (generic sense), and the GOP are supposed to abhor.

The most striking thing I learned from reading about him is that he not only supported the enslavement of blacks, but wanted to EXPAND it to include whites as well.

Unnamed abolitionist, 1849- "But George, enslaving people because of their race is wrong!"

George, *eyes narrowing*- "You know what...?"
