Estados Socialistas Unidos de Iberia wrote:What is this theory?

Basically, people with supposedly opposing ideas actually have very similar ideas. Ex: The person who thinks the world is perfect and the person who thinks the world is horrible don't try to change anything

Ruberian wrote:What are your views on the horseshoe theory?

I think it's a bit simplistic

I think it's inane. People with opposite opinions and values, actually don't have values and opinions that are the same, they have values and opinions that are the opposite of each other. It's actually completely absurd to think that the far-left and far-right have, really, anything in common at all.
Horseshoe theory is what politics looks like to uncritical, apathetic or "apolitical" moderates who fear even an inch of change, for better or for worse.
It's a lens to view politics with that smears together and smooths into oblivion the fundamental differences of irreconcilable opposites. It's just nothing, it declines to analyze anything at all, it rejects all nuance.

Horseshoe theory is less than one-dimensional, less than even just simplistic. It is, at best, total defeatism, inarguable apathy.

Umbergera wrote:I just recently banned them lol. There's no nuance to some of these outcomes, I don't think I would outright ban automobiles because they're useful for transport & emergency services, but I would make it difficult to obtain a personal license and vehicle, kind of like how it could take up to 10yrs to get a car in the USSR.

Why did you ban cars, I want the economy to grow, and banning cars makes it get smaller, the more money I get, the more I can wage war. Wait, did I say war, I meant "peace operation"

Brezzia wrote:"Census" is the word for stats. Sorry, I do not remember the word to compare policies.

Yes comrade, thank you. In the dispatch concerning the Ink Cloud bot, I read that "stats" is the word you should use if you want to compare policies. Well maybe it's just a bug, never mind though.

Puaco wrote:Vielen Dank, meine Kamerad!

Psst, just a reminder that "Genosse" is the German word you have to use when you translate the socialist/communist "comrade". "Kamerad" in politics was used by the nazis to express mutual acknowledgement (like the Italian fascist "camerata" and socialist/communist "compagno").

Honestly, it's just Inaccuracy, laziness and stupidity.
Inaacuracy with saying that the far left is (No matter what type of far-left) is as authoritarian as the Far-Right, Because I mean, come on guys.
How can an Anarcho-Communist be an Equal to a F**king Nazi?
Laziness, because it was probably made as an excuse to not learning about other ideologies of the Left, such as Eurocommunism, Libertarian Socialism, Democratic Confederalism (tho that came later), You name it.
Stupidity meaning that the Horseshoe theory is just Plain Stupid in comparing the things I mentioned earlier and making them equals.
So Bascially, it's just plain dumb.

Feyrisshire wrote:Chimi Akagi sounds like someone who could be a new great comrade to High Princess Ryeisse Schyi Yuri!

Nyan!

If the two met she'd probably offer her a drink
Just for reference, would she drink either maccha (green tea), awamori (Okinawan rice-based alcohol) or whiskey? (brown death liquid, and Chimi's favourite drink as a jackalope)

Also, Crimson Tree is now an autocracy. Oops?

Ruberian wrote:What are your views on the horseshoe theory?

It's like radical centrism but on illicit substances. Horseshoe theory is the idea of: "both spectrums are the same" which is false as you can't say that in logic and political thought of ideologies and ideological praxis, you can't put for an example an Anarcho-Syndicalist in the same gate of 'similarity' with an Anarcho-Fascist. It's a wrongly thought out layman talking point from radical centrism and centrists that the Left and Right are both the same in their acts for political support, which is disproven by a quick research from popular personalities of both Left and Right ideology.

The idea of the Horseshoe Theory is that, Noam Chomsky who is an proficient Socialist is the same in ideology with the leader of the American far-right group of Proud Boys but along with that it can backfire on it's believer because the Far-Right and Far-Left are not at all compatible nor even close to eachother as Horseshoe Theory is about the Left and Right ideologies being the same and interwinding.

And they still exist - though usually for specialised purposes these days - for example we maintain one at work as a live software changelog and technicians report.

For some purposes they make more sense than using a forum - and as they are entirely text based their hosting/storage requirements are tiny, which means you can actually store a tech's BBS in the free memory of a SCADA array (a network of PLC process controllers), rather than having to set aside server space on a computer somewhere.

Do you think that the inequality of up to 30 thousand between the richest and the poorest is good? I believe so, because in the real world while the poor earn 1000 a month (at least here in Brazil) the rich earn millions and billions.

Rebuilding a wasteland in the Mojave Desert since the bombs dropped 220 years ago for the worker's revolution in America to restore a greater future, under ideology and control of the workers and those who lead our peoples industries, farms, jobs and education.
