OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE DURRNILIAN WA OFFICE
A Letter to the Members of the Security Council Regarding the Proposal "Condemn The Communist Bloc"

Members of the Security Council,

It has been brought to my attention that the proposal "Condemn the Communist Bloc" written by Kazakhstan 3 has reached quorum and is now in queue. This proposal is short and provides inadequate reason to condemn, as its reasons are subjective and cannot be confirmed, either from the perspective of the author of said proposal, from the perspective of a resident of the condemned region, or the perspective of a neutral nation that is soon going to vote for this proposal. This proposal also notably lacks the initial clause that ensures the proposal is written from the perspective of the WA, and only has three sentences (excluding the operative clause).

This proposal, as short as it is, has some glaring grammar and formatting errors that soil it even more. Most SC proposals list the commendable/condemnable/liberatable clauses in an easy-to-read manner, with an active verb (usually italicised) among the lines of "noting", "impressed", or "appalled" to begin the clause, and line breaks between clauses. This proposal does not have line breaks separating clauses, and the only verb that starts a clause is the word "Understand", which has to instead be "Understanding" for the grammar to be correct. Each clause is also only one sentence each, the bare minimum. Each clause in most SC resolutions is at least the same length as all of the non-operative clauses combined, which is disappointing, to say the least. The operative clause, the last clause in the proposal, is notably abnormal. Most SC resolutions have an operative clause that states, "Hereby commends/condemns/liberates @@NATION@@/@@REGION@@.", but "Condemn The Communist Bloc" has an operative clause that states, "Action The Security Council hereby condemns The Communist Bloc.", which has four unnecessary words (the first four). The operative clause also has a blatant grammar error as well. To fix this grammar error and not the formatting error, the operative clause would have to state, "Action: The Security Council hereby condemns the Communist Bloc."

To end this letter, the Durrnilian SC Office formally censures "Condemn the Communist Bloc", Kazakhstan 3, and the 82 delegates (at the time of this writing) that approved it and discourages WA nations from voting for the proposal.

Signed,
Męch Hœn
Durrnilian Secretary of the Security Council

I literally made an entire dispatch criticizing the SC proposal that's about to be put on vote.

How does something so short and vague end up as a condemnation before the Security Council? Particularly from a region so small with a WA delegate so new?

Also, after voting, a telegram was sent to me that contained more information than the SC proposal, with an invitation to discuss changing my vote on the issue with the sender. Is this something that nations can inquire about and pursue themselves? or is it best left to the WA delegate, to avoid impropriety?

You're talking about Monkchester? That telegram's just a joke and a load of garbage, don't listen to it. The answer to your question, however, is that non-delegates can send telegrams advertising a vote to a proposal however they please.

Thanks for the answer Drew Durrnil

I was going to ask them why they diddnt fill in the proposal properly, rather than just telegramming their ideas, as well as how they thought such a proposal could pass, and why they could think it was an adequate representation of their region to the rest of the SC, it seemed poorly written and badly rehearsed at best. Wording is everything,

Look
I voted "Yes" for the current SC Proposal solely out of my hatred for Communism.
I know the proposal is garbage but I want to see The Communist Bloc taken down by any means necessary.
Hopefully one day there will be a SC Proposal of good quality that will finally condemn that wretched place.

Just so you are aware, a condemnation wouldn't really harm The Communist Bloc. Nothing really would happen if this resolution passes. Furthermore, a condemnation is often viewed as a badge of honour for "playing as the villain" effectively, rather than a punishment.

Would like to clarify that my anger at the resolution is not directed towards the author but towards whoever approved it to vote.

There's 11 in "Free The Cheese", so there's at least ~55 others who approved it for schnitzengiggles. Most of their countries are very young based on the population except for Commonwealth of don. Puppets perhaps?

I have found in real life that if obvious bullshit is obvious, its a distraction for something else. Either that or all the delegates are currently at a pool party and have had one to many...

yeah...

The GenSec isn’t doing anything because the SC isn’t theirs to rule on. Moderators get to rule on the legality of SC proposals, and they simply mark proposals legal if they do not contradict a rule (for instance, Jakker, despite being a raider, would mark a pro-defender proposal legal due to his job as moderator, despite planning to oppose it upon coming to vote), and do not mark proposals legal on the basis that they will vote for it. I don’t really see how either of these proposals contradict the SC rules, despite how horribly written both are.
