Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho!

I've become more casual and visited fewer regions in recent years than in the past (and more off the NS beaten path of better known regions). It has certainly been some years since I've had some company on my Sleigh Ride. Could WFC be ready to come along for a Sleigh Ride only a week from now? Ho, ho!

Good morning ladies and gents.

Can someone send me the link to the discord of Equilism by Telegram please?
I cannot log in with my other account

If no one else, I'll gladly keep you company on the Sleigh Ride

Were you able to resolve this? The Discord link is in the WFE if you need it.

Ho, Ho!

I don't know what time I'll get started. And sometimes I sleigh ride around a little now, and a little later. But sometime round about Christmas Eve, anyone that wishes to follow along should have your Christmas Themed nation ready to go! My trail will be easy to follow I'm sure. The point of the ride is to add just a little bit of Christmas Cheer in NS. There are others that follow the tradition on their own sleigh rides some years, and I've even crossed their path at times.

I will try to be on Discord too. Although at the moment, for some reason Discord isn't running properly on my desktop. It loads, and is then a giant blank box of emptiness. But if I'm on my laptop, then it won't be a problem.

Jolly Ole Saint Nick likes to visit a few of the more well known regions, and pass through many lesser travelled pathways. I only post on some of the RMB's I pass through, otherwise it just seems too spammy to me. On rare occasions, someone will send me a tg along the ride, and I may circle back to share a moment with them or to reply on their RMB.

So anyone that wants to come along and make my Sleigh Ride into a Christmas Parade is welcome to follow along! If you identify your participating nations for me so I know who's come along, each will be granted One Westwind Flying Circus Challenge Point.

Have you tried reinstalling the program? When did it start doing this for you?

Isaris wrote:Have you tried reinstalling the program? When did it start doing this for you?

Ho, ho!
It started after a Discord update. But I'm just as ready to blame the age of my desktop, there are more and more programs that won't run on this 12 year old machine. I've been taking an online class and working on a couple projects, and had to add Slack on this poor old Desktop too. It works, but slow to load messages. I haven't tried a reinstall Discord of yet though. It sometimes takes two minutes for this machine to just close a browser tab. Makes me feel like I'm running Windows 3.1 on a 286 PC from 1992.

Sounds like maybe your RAM or hard drive is starting to go out on you.

Ho, ho! Quite possible, although they've repeatedly passed every test I've thrown at them. My gut says one of the hard drives. But there's also a video problem, and I think the last repair I did on the video card is the last time I can fix it. (The travails of living on disability for a decade and getting by with what you've got.) Ho!

I understand. I recently had to replace my video card as it quite literally exploded. Sparks flew out of it but luckily nothing else in the computer was damaged. I had to spend all of the money I'd saved up from not driving as much during the pandemic to buy a new one. My new one is quite nice but my old processor doesn't let it work to its best ability and I'm hoping to upgrade that at some point.

"He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good," but if he knew what you wanted why would he need your letters and messages? Ho, ho! He needs focus!

After all, one day you want a Third Dictators Council and the next you want Global Domination. Everyone's always changing their minds.

Peace on Earth, Goodwill toward All mankind is always a good fallback gift for everyone.

Happy 17th Founding Anniversary Equilism!

It has been a Long and Winding Road that our region and community has traveled down through all these many years. So many things have changed. In NationStates, in Equilism, in Our Lives, and back in the Land of Real Life.

It's astounding to still be here, and I often wonder why.

I have no grand speech for you like I did in years long gone. But were those not fun times? The Rhetoric. The Debate. The Building of Community. Structuring of Governments and Legal systems. Inventing Regional Culture and Events. Negotiating Treaties. Engaging in Gameplay Battles, and Interregional Struggle. We planned, we schemed, we conquered, and we fell to inactivity. And yet got up to do it all over again. And again. And again.

Our region built a community that transcended generations, and learned to maintain the flexibility in governance to adjust to fit our needs. A community of high caliber players who's skills lead them across the NationStates Universe to lead and serve in many other major and minor regions.

Even in our modern modest state (where we wake up to shine for Zday annually), the effects of our community members past and present stretch out in service to others across NS.

When we aim to serve others, we find that we have served ourselves.

Well done Equilism, and Thank you!

I was reminded of this today, so I'll just share the link with you. Among other things, you'll find that 17 years later, Westwind's Grandson-in-law Dilber is the current TWP Delegate.

Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

Hey there, Equilismers! Please remember to endorse me if you've joined the World Assembly!

When I vote in the WA, I don't get just one vote. I get one vote, and then an extra vote for every one of you that is endorsing me!

Though our region may be small, together we can make our voice heard in the World Assembly!

Hello all, hope you are all well.
Here is this week's poll, regarding the heinous raid on The Embassy. Vote and feel free to share to others (it's an open poll, non-restricted) , this concerns every nation and region on NationStates!!

Great Turf Wars

There were already Turf Wars dating back to 2,000 years before the current setting, perhaps either as a competitive sport or a method to settle conflicts. The first recorded Turf War occurred during a period in Inkling history with many similarities to Ancient Egypt, roughly 2,000 years before the events of Splatoon began. However, as these Turf Wars of nineteen centuries later involved the Inklings and Octarians (instead of just teams of four Inklings), it has expanded into a bigger campaign, great enough to become a historical event.

Before the Great Turf Wars, the Inklings and Octarians had "amicable relations", until the rising sea levels caused them to lash out against each other in a power struggle over the remaining land.

As time progressed, the Octarians separated themselves from the other species of the Mollusc Era. They became dissatisfied with the amount of available dry land and waged war on the Inklings, the other dominant species at the time, to gain total control of the turf.

The Octarians constructed a variety of large machines known as the Great Octoweapons and began attacking Inkling cities.

The first battles of the Great War ended in victory for the Octarian forces. The diligent Octarians easily dominated the Inklings, who were unable to wake up early enough in the morning to defend themselves.(The Inklings have long led a hedonistic style of life).

Heralded by loud explosions, the Great Octoweapons quickly stormed the Inklings' central stronghold. Victory for the Octarians seemed all but certain, but due to a plug being carelessly pulled from its socket, their hopes were dashed. Lady Luck shone down on the Inklings, and the Inklings' victory over the Octarians was most likely due to their superior number of limbs. The Inklings secured a victory in the war and forced the Octarians to retreat to underground lairs such as Octo Valley, which were constructed from the ruins of the subterranean cities built by the remnants of humanity.

The Inkling faction had a fighting force known as the Squidbeak Splatoon led by Cap'n Cuttlefish, which fought against the Octarians during the war..
