Benjawan: “In all honesty, I wasn’t there when our vessels met with the governments whaling vessels. Though I know the captain of the fleet wouldn’t want to put his men in harms way, he would have given warning or communicated successfully with the whaling vessels. Him firing directly upon alien vessels would have had his men and fleet decimated.”

The press report comes to an end. The guests are driven to the business district of the city, where they stay in modern hotel suites on the top floor of one of the tallest spires in the city. As night descends, the birds eye view shows how little electricity there is. Huge patches of impenetrable darkness sit beyond the skyscrapers, some of which, themselves, don't seem to have power on all floors. The showers and bath tubs have warning slides on waterproof touch screens planted into the wall. In a variety of languages, it says;

The Imperial Government has ordered water rationing. According to Regulation 334 Article 6, all residences and establishments have had a 67% cut on their water supply for the month. Please do not use this shower for more than five minutes. Please fill the tub only to the specially marked fill line. Overuse or misuse of water could result in a fine of up to 50,000¥. Thank you.

As the Trade Minister, Empress, Captain & Lieutenant left the press conference, they were then guided to an inn. The place looking very different to an inn in Kemonomica. Taken to the top of the structure through a small room that seemed to frightened the Kemonomimi’s as they were not used to a moving room. Stopping at the top of the structure and were shown their rooms. The Captain and the Lieutenant were staying together, the Trade Minister and the Empress were in separate rooms.

Kyung-Mo: “I’m opening the window Lieutenant to get some fresh air.”

Kim Liên: “Do you even know how to Captain?” The lieutenant asked.

Kyung-Mo: I’m sure getting fresh air is the same wherever you go.” He says, pushing the transparent window.

Kim Liên: “Mhm, same as everywhere. . .” He chuckled as the captain failed to open the window. His wolf tail waving erratically.

The Trade Minister looks out of the window with his hands crossed behind his back, looking at the dark night sky as there were only a few lights lit in the area. His emotionless face reflecting back at himself. He hears a knock at the door.

Benjawan: “Come in,” He says, the Empress then opens the door and the Trade Minister took a step towards her.

Benjawan: “My Empress, I’m sorry that I couldn’t attend to the door,” he says bowing respectfully to her.

Asuka: “No need for apologies, I’m sorry to intrude if I was disturbing you,”

Benjawan: “You’re always welcome here my Imperial Empress,” He said.

Asuka: “I just came here to congratulate you, you answered those questions to the best of my abilities,”

Benjawan: “I fear that I haven’t performed as best as I could,” he responded, his ears lowered.

Asuka: “nonsense, you did the best you could,”

Benjawan: “Thank you my Empress, though have you seen this city?”

Asuka: “Yes, it’s dark. Darker than the capital, it disturbs me, I don’t know why but it’s uncomfortable to have structures as big as this not be lit by fire or anything.”

Benjawan: “I believe it’s the fireworks the people in the capital throw off at the plaza. Every night they lit the sky with fireworks to celebrate unity throughout the land. The land is cold but our spirits high keeps us warm. Though even with the land being warm, these people don’t seem to have warm spirits, their spirits being hardened by their past or something,” he explained, observing the steel landscape of the city.

Asuka: “Sounds very. . . I don’t have the words to describe it,”

Benjawan: “Me neither, though I believe it’s getting late, you have to get a good nights rest my Empress.”

Asuka: “You too Trade Minister, don’t stay up too late,”

Benjawan: “I won’t my Empress,” he said, as she exited out, he bowed as she left. Benjawan then entered the bathroom, seeing some light blue box stuck onto the wall that was a warning, reading it and he was shocked at the limitations of water. He though didn’t wish to take a shower. He changed into something comfortable to sleep with, thinking of what he was going to say for the meeting tomorrow.

The Prime Minister and head of the MFA alongside Japanese trade officials are meeting with the Trade Minister Komonomica to discuss alleged violations of the recently discovered countries territorial waters. Officials claimed that MFA whaling vessels entered Kemonomican waters and refused to leave. Meanwhile the Maritime Food Agency is denying it ever entered any nations territorial waters, and that its operations are completely legal. The MFA is tasked with hunting cetacean animals and fish in order to feed the starving population of Japan.

The Meeting...

On either side of a long wooden table sit the Japanese and Kemonomican officials (sorry if I got your national pronoun wrong). The Japanese are dressed in formal western attire, and are lead by Prime Minister Kido and MFA Director Fuyumi Toyotomi. "Welcome everyone," says the Prime Minister. "I'll give our guests the chance to speak first on the issue of our hunting operations."

He manages to get away from Natsu Palace thanks to the help of his loyal staff. His envoy and advisers are shriveled old men with prehistoric world views, but his younger attendants are kinder, more modern. He's taught by the servants to clean clothes and fold them. He's taught by his team of stylists how to appear properly in public, and he's taught by his kitchen staff the basic rules of cooking. However, despite this, his knowledge is still basic in some areas. He's determined to get better though.

The first day of his independent life begins at three in the morning, with Akihito sneaking out of the palace. His old friend in the Imperial Guard, Sergeant Yoshihito, turned a blind eye, and he has connections with the rest of the Guard. He arrives precisely at the exact minute for orientation and the various tasks that involve moving into the campus begin. Akihito doesn't like to brag, but... he'd venture to say he was even a little bit early, leaving him a chance to give a Japanese janitor from the home territory a near heart attack followed by several bows. The Prince shrugs it off uncomfortably.

Benjawan woke up early in the morning, getting himself ready. He was escorted to the meeting, the Captain wished him luck as well as the Empress. Benjawan carried a scroll with him, he sat on one end of the table, his elk alters, his animal-like ears on the top of his head and his tail makes him different to the rest of them, though he maintained some human appearance. He wasn’t comfortable sitting on a chair, as he never sat on one, he usually sits on a zabuton on the floor. He wore a white and red chut thai to the meeting. And greeted the Prime Minister with a bow. And sat back down on the chair.

As the Prime Minister called him up, he laid both his hands on the wooden desk, slowly raising from the chair. He then opened his scroll.

Benjawan: “Thank you. . .” He said softly to the Prime Minister, he then cleared his throat, “Well as Trade Minister of the Sakura State of Kemonomica, I believe that the whaling vessels were seen by our locals at Atarashi mimi (新しい耳), a city that is full of local fisherman, shipbuilders and industries. Our locals fled back to the ports of the city and so our fleet there warned the ships that they were in Kemonomimi maritime seas. The vessels then left as they stayed for a duration, though the following week some vessels were again spotted in the area, so the captain sent out a larger fleet to put an end to this. Though not through any violence, he was told that the Government of Japan didn’t recognize the Sakura State of Kemonomica, nor our maritime claims are not recognized, so I have came here to deal with the lack of recognition the State of Kemonomica gets in order to stop people from disrupting our people and our local wildlife.” He said. He then bowed again saying, “That’s all I have to say, anyone wishes to present their argument may do so,” and he then took his seat. With both his hands on his shoulders gripping each other.

The Prime Minister clears his throat. "On behalf of Her Majesty, long may she reign, I am endowed with the sacred responsibility of presenting to you Her Majesty the Empress' most illustrious Imperial Decree on the Kemonomimi Waters Situation." The Prime Minister raised a suit case to the table and pulled thin white gloves onto his hands. The leather case was plain and black. Prime Minister Kido clicked the suitcase open and gently lifted a thick white sheet of paper out of it. He read from it with a careful gaze.

"By order of the Empress, her reign of a line ancient and unbroken, it is the mission of the Maritime Trade Agency to provide for the hungry and down trodden with the food they require to heal our great and illustrious Empire of it's war wounds. The Old Ways

In order protect the sacred stature of the Chrysanthemum Throne, a seat of unmatched excellence, a line ancient and unbroken, Her Majesty's government imposed several news laws and various sentences for criminals who violate these laws. It is now illegal to look upon Her Majesty the Mikado or speak ill of Her Majesty at any time or in any way. This is punishable by life in prison and confiscation of property. It is now state required that every morning at nine o' clock and every evening at six o' clock, all Japanese and those of Japanese descent loyal to the Chrysanthemum Throne must bow in the direction of the Imperial Palace in Askiji for one solid minute. Failure to comply will result in life imprisonment and confiscation of property. Every household must have within it a picture of Her Majesty. Failure to comply will rsult in confiscation of property.

Rising Power

The Marshal Prime Ministers' leadership was reinforced by an Imperial Decree, stating Prime Minister Kido's emergency powers would continue for five more years. To show case the power of the Imperial Military's massive conscription order, one million conscripts have been called forth for a large scale combat drill outside New Fukushima. Additionally, as part of the Imperial Conscript Army's attempts to expand it's arsenal, it is putting in an order for one hundred older tanks from the Iktah Palatinate of Noteer, particularly the RNX model. The War Ministry issued a statement saying the first three hundred thousand conscripts who have just completed their training will be brought forth to assist in the upkeep of Martial Law for the next six weeks, at which point they will be demobilized.

(To be clear, the conscription program does not expand my army or allow me to deploy more troops. As previously stated, these conscripts are only usable for the defense of my homeland, their weapons and supplies come from stock piles which I have stated are being built nation wide and are likely of great size and range now. I am willing to discuss this further with anyone.)

There's no report in the paper. Now announcement on the news. But everyone can feel it. It's a feeling of tensity, of fear, of stress. Of a nation that has been stretched too thin.

Japan. A warrior culture that is most ancient. A culture of devotion to the nation. To the Mikado. They are the single greatest race on earth, says their government. They are the people of the famed samurai. Of the respected and mourned kamikaze, a nation which once set out to conquer China, the largest human nation on earth--and succeeded. They are a nation that for three years, did something no one else could. They defied every super power, defeated every colonizing gaijin army. They conquered Asia and subdued the west, with the heavens as their witness. They are a nation that once commanded the greatest navy the world had ever known, that built the biggest battleships in history. The spirit of Bushido burns bright in the hearts of the Empire, as does the desire for revenge.

Six days ago, Japanese protesters massed outside the Aldia-karelian embassy. The protests were peaceful and contained by the police. But last night, protesters became agitated. They chanted the Imperial war cry of bonzai, set fire to Aldian, Empire of Goran, and Caifuanese flags. At 12:00, a molotov cocktail smashed through the window of a police cruiser, exploding and badly burning one police officer. Now, at 7:00 this morning, riot units are on seen and have set up a shield wall. Just down the street, crowds are amassing near the Caifuanese and Goran embassies. Inside, the staff can hear chants of, "avenge the Empire!" There are now huge crowds as far as the eye can see, flooding the small but decadent wealthy section of Saisei. There's no sounds to be heard aside from the chants and police sirens...

Despite the Japanese being an ally, and their cultural memory returning to Japan, these actions are outright condemned by the both the Iktah government and the majority of the Palatinate's populace. It is hoped for the best that the Japanese government likewise condemns this violent civilian outbreak, for the sake of New Japan to save face.

The Japanese Interior and Foreign Ministries have both made statements calling for calm, while the police have moved to protect the embassies and secure the situation. The government is, "doing everything possible to maintain order and peace at this time." The police officer who was injured has been identified as the 23 year old officer Hajime Takeshita. His injuries are minor, and he is currently being treated for burns on his leg. The police have threatened to use pepper spray and tear gas if the riots do not cease immediately. The Kenpeitai military police have been alerted, and shock troops are stationed at barracks only thirty minutes away. The right to assembly was suspended last year, but police and civilian officials are urging the Kenpeitai not to come out in force and carry out what could be seen as police brutality during this delicate situation. Regardless, the War Ministry--which oversees the Kenpeitai--issued a statement of it's own. Propaganda footage shows 5,000 Kenpeitai shock troops being moved to the border of Sendai Prefecture.

After hearing of unrest in such a familiar type of country and scenario that Sluporia is by now familiar with through their close ally, the Goran empire, Sluporia offers the aid of 8,000 Eisenlanze Riot Control Troops and 2,000 Imperial Guard of the 77th. PA Battalion to assist in quelling these riots. Many of the men are veterans who served in the Japanese Co-Prosperity Sphere many years before in defense of the prince against his people.

I am willing to discuss this further with anyone.)

The return of Japanese culture is all well and good. However, this only extends to the return of true Japanese culture. These recent laws implemented in terms of religion in relation to the Chrysanthemum Monarchy are concerning and controversial. From questions like if this law effects the Shinto practicers of Askiji, to the wondering if the Empress even had a say in this law's implementation due to its out-of-nature styling, these new regulations are raising a lot of eyebrows. The Palatinate has stated that he intends to have a meeting with Empress Hanae to discover the happenings of these laws and regulations, of course as a friendly venture as their relations have been.

With this recent sudden demand for vehicles, the Osurad Military Command has declared that preparation of this amount of surplus vehicles will take time. So, it has decided to make a deal with the National Diet; Palatinate Task Force Stilt, the Iktah military force assigned to assisting the Japanese reconstruction efforts, shall help in both overwatching the Conscript training program, as well as ensure the strict guidelines set by the current martial law in place are met, particularly its set dates. In exchange, the tanks will be funneled in as quickly as possible by TFS aided naval craft. Apologies are made, but the deployment of Stilt commanders can help ensure the upmost training is given to the Conscripts, as well as ensure their quality of life is not too deeply affected by a new military obligation. The first 15 vehicles can be expected in the coming week for use by the Conscripts if Task Force assistance is approved by Japanese High Command.

The japanese co-prosperity sphere

Sluporia wrote:After hearing of unrest in such a familiar type of country and scenario that Sluporia is by now familiar with through their close ally, the Goran empire, Sluporia offers the aid of 8,000 Eisenlanze Riot Control Troops and 2,000 Imperial Guard of the 77th. PA Battalion to assist in quelling these riots. Many of the men are veterans who served in the Japanese Co-Prosperity Sphere many years before in defense of the prince against his people.

The Empire maintains a strict isolationist policy, being the hermit kingdom of Alterra. Travel there is virtually impossible thanks to it being one of the most militarized countries on earth, not to mention it spends more money on it's surveillance apparatus than most of the world powers on the planet. The memories of old still haunt the Empire. When the Kyn sent security forces to aid the Japanese, they betrayed and slaughtered millions. And the last time a Japanese official met with the Sluporians, which was roughly thirty to forty years ago, it was during a time of tensity and mistrust between the two powers. Ever since, the Japanese have kept their distance from the Sluporians, watching them carefully but passively. The offer is almost immediately shot down by an unnecessarily hostile Marshal Prime Minister. However the brief but important exchange captured the attention of the Japanese nation, and members of the government have already expressed their interest to reopen talks with Sluporia. As usual, the Chrysanthemum Throne has remained distant throughout the discussions, and is quietly controlling the situation from Natsu Palace in Askiji. The Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal, Daichi Hachimitsu said, "Her Majesty is aware of the situation and is watching it closely. She is taking the necessary steps to respond."
