There's no report in the paper. Now announcement on the news. But everyone can feel it. It's a feeling of tensity, of fear, of stress. Of a nation that has been stretched too thin.

Japan. A warrior culture that is most ancient. A culture of devotion to the nation. To the Mikado. They are the single greatest race on earth, says their government. They are the people of the famed samurai. Of the respected and mourned kamikaze, a nation which once set out to conquer China, the largest human nation on earth--and succeeded. They are a nation that for three years, did something no one else could. They defied every super power, defeated every colonizing gaijin army. They conquered Asia and subdued the west, with the heavens as their witness. They are a nation that once commanded the greatest navy the world had ever known, that built the biggest battleships in history. The spirit of Bushido burns bright in the hearts of the Empire, as does the desire for revenge.

Six days ago, Japanese protesters massed outside the Aldia-karelian embassy. The protests were peaceful and contained by the police. But last night, protesters became agitated. They chanted the Imperial war cry of bonzai, set fire to Aldian, Empire of Goran, and Caifuanese flags. At 12:00, a molotov cocktail smashed through the window of a police cruiser, exploding and badly burning one police officer. Now, at 7:00 this morning, riot units are on seen and have set up a shield wall. Just down the street, crowds are amassing near the Caifuanese and Goran embassies. Inside, the staff can hear chants of, "avenge the Empire!" There are now huge crowds as far as the eye can see, flooding the small but decadent wealthy section of Saisei. There's no sounds to be heard aside from the chants and police sirens...

The japanese co-prosperity sphere wrote:The Empire maintains a strict isolationist policy, being the hermit kingdom of Alterra. Travel there is virtually impossible thanks to it being one of the most militarized countries on earth, not to mention it spends more money on it's surveillance apparatus than most of the world powers on the planet. The memories of old still haunt the Empire. When the Kyn sent security forces to aid the Japanese, they betrayed and slaughtered millions. And the last time a Japanese official met with the Sluporians, which was roughly thirty to forty years ago, it was during a time of tensity and mistrust between the two powers. Ever since, the Japanese have kept their distance from the Sluporians, watching them carefully but passively. The offer is almost immediately shot down by an unnecessarily hostile Marshal Prime Minister. However the brief but important exchange captured the attention of the Japanese nation, and members of the government have already expressed their interest to reopen talks with Sluporia. As usual, the Chrysanthemum Throne has remained distant throughout the discussions, and is quietly controlling the situation from Natsu Palace in Askiji. The Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal, Daichi Hachimitsu said, "Her Majesty is aware of the situation and is watching it closely. She is taking the necessary steps to respond."

Sluporia respects their wishes and wishes them the best of luck in their future ventures, should the rise ever come, they know how to contact Sluporia.

These recent laws implemented in terms of religion in relation to the Chrysanthemum Monarchy are concerning and controversial. From questions like if this law effects the Shinto practicers of Askiji, to the wondering if the Empress even had a say in this law's implementation due to its out-of-nature styling, these new regulations are raising a lot of eyebrows. The Palatinate has stated that he intends to have a meeting with Empress Hanae to discover the happenings of these laws and regulations, of course as a friendly venture as their relations have been.

With this recent sudden demand for vehicles, the Osurad Military Command has declared that preparation of this amount of surplus vehicles will take time. So, it has decided to make a deal with the National Diet; Palatinate Task Force Stilt, the Iktah military force assigned to assisting the Japanese reconstruction efforts, shall help in both overwatching the Conscript training program, as well as ensure the strict guidelines set by the current martial law in place are met, particularly its set dates. In exchange, the tanks will be funneled in as quickly as possible by TFS aided naval craft. Apologies are made, but the deployment of Stilt commanders can help ensure the upmost training is given to the Conscripts, as well as ensure their quality of life is not too deeply affected by a new military obligation. The first 15 vehicles can be expected in the coming week for use by the Conscripts if Task Force assistance is approved by Japanese High Command.

Natsu Palace's Imperial Guard opens the gates of the Palace to the Palatine. The press snaps photos as his vehicle crosses the bridge over the canal separating the extensive grounds from the rest of the city. On the opposite end of the canal, an Imperial Guard APC sits by the large white gate, with the ceremonial but elite soldiers of the guard standing at attention. That's the last the public sees--the press is never allowed on the Palace Grounds. The Empress has not been seen in public since their last meeting, which was a state dinner last year. The Chrysanthemum Monarchy has been shrouded in mystery of late...

The Palatine is met by the Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal, Daichi Hachimitsu in the Reception Hall, and grand ballroom and recreation space for special occasions at the entrance to the palace. The gardens are in bloom, and the perfume of flowers lazily wafts through the open windows. He smiles kindly and bows before shaking the Palatines hand.

"Welcome, old friend. It has been too long."

The government, if it notices this, hasn't taken much action other than to make sure no one finds out about this information.

Some protest leaders are refusing to accept the weapons. Many end up in Yakuza hands. The vast majority are intercepted before they get anywhere near the border by under cover operatives in Lothric or nearby nations. The few extremists (there's a sizable minority) barely get much of anything by the time the shipments arrive, most of which never do. But the notorious and powerful Yakuza families and gangs have spent years figuring out the ins and outs of the massive figurative and literal wall between the secluded Empire and the rest of the world... The only problem is figuring out how to get in touch with them.

His envoy and advisers are shriveled old men with prehistoric world views, but his younger attendants are kinder, more modern. He's taught by the servants to clean clothes and fold them. He's taught by his team of stylists how to appear properly in public, and he's taught by his kitchen staff the basic rules of cooking. However, despite this, his knowledge is still basic in some areas. He's determined to get better though.

The first day of his independent life begins at three in the morning, with Akihito sneaking out of the palace. His old friend in the Imperial Guard, Sergeant Yoshihito, turned a blind eye, and he has connections with the rest of the Guard. He arrives precisely at the exact minute for orientation and the various tasks that involve moving into the campus begin. Akihito doesn't like to brag, but... he'd venture to say he was even a little bit early, leaving him a chance to give a Japanese janitor from the home territory a near heart attack followed by several bows. The Prince shrugs it off uncomfortably.

The hallways of the old building are dotted with students making their ways from either one of the campus's two spacious lobby areas to the central auditorium, lovingly given a name as the "Collegial Noh Theatre". Various kinds of people can be seen making their way through the school's old corridors: Iktah of three of the four major seasons and a few noticeably from the minor biomed subsections, as well as humans of various races like Japanese, Korean, Caifuese, and even some Zygoltianese. However, once the row of four double-doors to the theater is found by the students and opened, most of them can see more kinds of students looking to attend: minorities of even more obscure human nations, elves from one of many potential native states, even a small group of Zeporan Shardins stuck out above the crowd as they looked upon the stage. Situated in front of a great projector behind a stage floor, this place was absolutely packed. Akihito should find a seat before the presentation begins, the empty stage with a podium with a logo of a lotus flower prepped for whoever is coming to speak.

The government is, "doing everything possible to maintain order and peace at this time." The police officer who was injured has been identified as the 23 year old officer Hajime Takeshita. His injuries are minor, and he is currently being treated for burns on his leg. The police have threatened to use pepper spray and tear gas if the riots do not cease immediately. The Kenpeitai military police have been alerted, and shock troops are stationed at barracks only thirty minutes away. The right to assembly was suspended last year, but police and civilian officials are urging the Kenpeitai not to come out in force and carry out what could be seen as police brutality during this delicate situation. Regardless, the War Ministry--which oversees the Kenpeitai--issued a statement of it's own. Propaganda footage shows 5,000 Kenpeitai shock troops being moved to the border of Sendai Prefecture.

Though it has little leverage on the actual decisions of the War Ministry, full on intervention by the Kenpeitai is considered not the way to go, with one extreme not being any good for another, for now, it is thought that the best the Japanese can do is protect the embassies and detain those who cause true violence.

(Oof wait I have forgotten something)

Imperial High Command has approved the Palatinate's proposition and readied the training grounds across the nation. Imperial military discipline is notoriously rigorous, and it promotes self sacrifice for the Mikado above survival. A common saying in the military is, "surrender has no definition in Japanese, because it is not a word we use. Death and victory are."

The Prime Minister raised a suit case to the table and pulled thin white gloves onto his hands. The leather case was plain and black. Prime Minister Kido clicked the suitcase open and gently lifted a thick white sheet of paper out of it. He read from it with a careful gaze.

"By order of the Empress, her reign of a line ancient and unbroken, it is the mission of the Maritime Trade Agency to provide for the hungry and down trodden with the food they require to heal our great and illustrious Empire of it's war wounds. The will of the Mikado, and the Chrysanthemum Throne, with all it's ancient and divine authority, is solemnly committed to this great mission. Nothing shall come before the will of Her Majesty the Mikado and her Imperial Government. For the sake of the long life of the Empire, our fleets must operate unhindered."

The Trade Minister closes his scroll, he then looks up to the Prime Minister of Japan.

Benjawan: “Does this mean your whaling vessels are going to continue to ignore our maritime borders and still take the resources from these sea’s?” He questioned.

Despite the tense situation, things are being contained. Iktah and Japanese forces have secured the area and managed to protect the embassies. Lin Su is denied audience with the Empress, but that was to be suspected. It takes three days of his airplane being grounded and waiting for confirmation to enter Japanese territory. In the past few years, the Empire has become arguably the most militarized nation on the planet. The slowly recovering economy is being channeled towards the Imperial Military. Finally, they are given to go ahead to approach the Line of Sovereignty, the invisible barrier between Japanese territory and the rest of the world. The tranquil ocean seems peaceful and calm, with nothing in sight for miles. But no doubt there's an entire legion of missiles ready to demolish anything that passes the Line of Sovereignty. Not five minutes later, two Imperial air force jets are flying uncomfortably close the plane.

Even though this was a first day orientation event, it seemed like quite a few people already knew each other or were getting to know each other. The auditorium was lively with chatter that seemingly welded together into a cacophonous word salad. Few seemed to notice or care about Akihito's impressions. For a moment, Akihito could have sworn to have heard his name mentioned somewhere behind him, but this could have been a passing mistake it was so brief.

Soon, the lights dim and the incoming freshmen begin to calm down. The projector turns on with a slideshow of various photos of the campus and students doing activities together, more just a side spectacle rather than any true important information. From stage left, President Jun'zon would approach the stand to begin the introductions, of course in Japanese as basically all the students would speak it. However, it is noticeable that before he begins, some of Iktah students, particularly ones seemingly from more rural areas, would be taking up and consuming a purple flower petal of sorts; Gaeafel petals to be exact.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen of places near and far. If you are here, you have been accepted to join the Askiji University family, something you should personally have pride for.
