The following morning in the Imperial Palace did not start as normal. After Alyssa ate her breakfast, the Empress went to practice her arcane abilities. At the palace’s open fields, Alyssa started practicing her offensive abilities.

“Ai-ya!” Alyssa threw a large arcane ball into a dummy- upon impact, the dummy exploded into smithereens. All what was left of it was the wooden splinters that formed itself. Alyssa sighed in relief.

“That woman… I’ll show her a bit of some Midford style combat once I see her!” she said to herself. Alyssa then continued to summon dummies and destroyed them with a multitude of high-energy arcane balls. “Trying to look like Mother!? Is she disrespecting the dead or something!? Bloody--” she sighed.

She then decided that it was enough training. Wolfgang greeted her along the way. “Hard at work already in the morning?” he asked. Alyssa simply nodded. “I’m going to the Expo again today. You should join me. It’s kind of fun there,” she said.

“The Exposition? With pleasure.” Wolfgang then joined her as the two made their way to Midfordplatz. As usual, there were a plethora of people around. The second day of the Expo was still flooded with people. Among those first that Alyssa and Wolfgang saw were Azusa… and of course, her escort- Emiria.

Alyssa’s reaction was comparable to a famished demon, except in pain. Emiria simply smiled, and Azusa was confused to no end on why the Empress was so angry with her escort. Wolfgang finally saw why Alyssa was angered.

“Ah. Now I see why.” Wolfgang said.

“Told you!” Alyssa replied as they left.

Meanwhile, Emiria was confused. “Azusa. Do you think she’s overreacting?” she asked.

“I’m thinking so too. Maybe she remembers you… as in you… before. Why did you even dress like that?” Azusa asked.
“You recommended it.”

“Oh. Right.”

Emiria sighed. She was not sure what to feel: emotional pain, or to simply just let the issue be. Azusa was more worried however. She was staring at her arcanometer. It was at its danger level. “It seems that the Empress is angry and amassed a disproportionately large amount of arcane in her personage. I think she wants to confront you…” she said, worried.

“Confront me? Ah, yes. The Midford style of combat. I started it all. It would seem she knows the basics already. Excuse me.” Emiria said and finally decided to confront her as well.

Alyssa and Wolfgang were busy looking around the booths of Ironblood, when suddenly, Emiria appeared.

“WHAT- HO-” Alyssa said loudly.

“I perceive you want to confront me.” Emiria said seriously. Her eyes were glowing red.

“Oh… nein…” Wolfgang said as he backed out.

“Yes! I want to! You want to!? Alright! But not here! That is too scandalous and I’m not like other royalties that do things in public that are scandalous!” Alyssa then took her to the Imperial Palace’s backyard, which then would become a battle arena.

“You’re going down, self-proclaimed ‘Lady’ Emiria!”

“We shall see.” Emiria said and never made a move.
