Mhm, hope that really is the case!

She laughs a slight bit on hearing that Hans is willing to even risk an arranged marriage. She needed that.

"But your noble lineage isn't recognized as a Latin House, non-Latin houses don't earn privilege in Constantinople... And unfortunately, as I've said, you aren't saving me. Not in this context. You're merely staling a horrible fate which Francis is drawing up for me..."

"Supricingly, I had not yet heard of these. It sounds very much like something Hitler would allow himself to if he ever went more religious. Are there many who follow this type of church in the current German Empire, if I may ask?"

He shrugged, supricingly.

"I will still attempt to save most of you, even if I have to loose some of myself in the way. Not Francis nor Thrawn will halt me if I am this willing." He would clench his fist and grasp on his glass, then putting it down to grab one of Caroline's hand, "I don't want to loose any more of you, Caroline. Please."

"Unlikely, much of the Tridentines and Catholics in general, in Germany were either murdered, fled to Bavaria, or fled to Constantinople. I used the remnants in the revolt I made. Suffice to say, they are plenty in ruins now, and their power are ultimately destroyed now. Those who were captured in Constantinople, they feel the utter wrath of Arcadia."

She would sigh at this thought.

"I understand your adamance to save me. If our roles were switched, I would push for your safety as well... Well I do have a suggestion. To draw attention away from this blunder, perhaps commence the beginning of war supplications to the Latin Empire in their military campaigns to keep people busy with outside affairs... At least as long enough so I could escape to somewhere... Someplace... Perhaps I could even fake my entire torture at the hands of the government if only I could earn Francis's trust back..."

She widens her eyes a bit and would look at Hans directly as he grabs her hand.

"Ah... Er, please let go, God willing..."

He would release his hand, quickly putting it on his own chin as he begun to formulate a plan.

"Well, we were preparing to go eastwards in expantion like, right before your revolt, but nobody brought up asking the latins for aid, but we thought of doing it step by step, do you believe that a war against the moravian and polish states in exchange to aid them in their anatolian and croatian expantion could make them distracted enough?" He considered, then shook his head.

"I don't feel very happy about these two, but if these are the ones you are most likely to take my own sister and brother can manage it so your torture can either be easly and better faked or entirely wiped out of your memory to mantain yourself from before the prolonged suffering, but how does one gains Francis trust back?" He asked her, "My resources are plenty, and by plenty I mean whatever is inside these borders if I play my cards well enough. What would he be willing to take or have you do to regain his trust?"

"Possibly. The war in West Croatia is led by Prince Constantine, and the war in Anatolia is led by Princess Claudia, though. It is unfortunate that I must say that despite everything, Francis and Arcadia aren't quite that busy anymore. They've begun delegating to lesser nobility, but I do believe that further supplication may distract the Latins as a whole."

She would think.

"To gain Francis's trust, you need to gain Arcadia's trust. This is naught but an impossibility, so I do suggest aiming for something else... What if we attempt to influence the Latin House of Thrawn? Her children and the Byzantines, that is..."

Asia Minor

Bursa would rapidly capitulate, causing the collapse of the ill-populated regions of Kütahya and Bilecik, with their forces torn apart by Latin projectiles from far beyond their effective firing range, rendering the massive city's relatively spread out defenses to be naught in the face of the 4,000-man Southern Army, which shall set the stage for a full on Latin implementation of the Megali idea to occupy all Greek-majority states under Latin, de jure Greek rule once more.

The road to Ankara, paved with the help of a powerful 6,000 army detachment and a group of 12 main battle tanks, would commence at the minor locality of Sakarya, swiftly eliminating its patrols to the alarm of the Ankaran forces as the fall of the former would leave the capital of the Anatolian state wide open via the E80 road, which is now controlled by the Latin Armed Forces.

İzmir, on the other hand, in the non-Thracian west of Anatolia, would face a naval assault from an additional 4,000 man force belonging to the Army of Achaea, in the historical region of the Peloponnese, as well as a host of units belonging to the Cyclades, thus directly threatening the territories of Southwest Anatolia and further stretching enemy defenses along two distinctly different land coordinates with risk of envelopment.

Sweeping deep into areas such as Paphlagonia and Nicaea, the western sections of the Anatolian state would be restored to Latin rule, and various feudatories would be landed to rule the occupied territories as military governors until the end of the war. Continuing this advance, a three-pronged assault would be created to overrun Trebizond in the north, Cilicia in the south, and the central Anatolian territories down the middle.

To avoid exhausting and overstretching the armed forces, in what seems to be an examination of the failed Ummayad siege of Constantinople, the southern detachment of 4,000 would be sent out into the sea to organize a direct, flanking, amphibious assault on the Anatolian state's Syrian provinces in order to cut enemy focus directly in half, with a hypothetical collapse of Syria capable of trapping Anatolia in a dangerous, pincer movement.

Cyprus

The 40 men at Poli Crysochous and 60 at Akrotiri would successfully capture the outlying coastal villages with limited resistance, and would begin spreading outwards, setting up vital artillery and mobile anti-aircraft units along the way to cover further landings of the Army of Crete.

Meanwhile the 700 men at Nicosia and the City of Cyprus would incur massive gains as urban block after urban block would flag and falter, or defect to the Latin cause. Suffering 4 losses in the initial landings, and a further 5 in the bloody brawl upon the Cypriot streets, the invasion of Cyprus would prove to be the bloodiest front in the Anatolian war, given the compact nature of the island as well as the total desperation of its defense in comparison with the flexibly positioned Anatolians on the mainland.

The "Kingdom of Cyprus", a historical crusader states established on Greek soil by Richard the Lionheart, ruled in medieval times by the House of Ibelin and of Lusignan, would be declared by both the Latin Emperor and the Patriarch of Constantinople to have been restored, and would be decreed to be immediate legal property of the country upon the island's total occupation by the Latin Armed Forces and Navy.

"Delegating power? That is quite a dangerous move nowdays, I must say, I mean, it's the Balkans, hopefully they are picking the right people, but I imagine if so then these people cannot be brought to our side. If it comes to it, a double-coalition against our rebellious territories could proceed, since anyway they are but rebels occupying our former territories anyway." He would say.

He nodded, "It would be for the best, after all, you did dress up as her in Sweden once and we can all agree that was quite unforgettable, we met then didn't we? . And perhaps offering them some certain noble titles on possibly newly adquired territories, we are not picky on the nobility when it comes to certain states, as Thrawns glory must be something they would seek perhaps? It'd be easier than to try to influence the American House or German House of Thrawn for help, or so I hope."

Well no, because Area 51 is in the USA, and the USA of this timeline is too hecking weird to be worth raiding.

"Delegation saved the Roman Empire. Centralizing all power into one, single authority figure is highly risky. It forces people to accede to flawlessness in order to survive, and God did not create us perfectly. I personally believe delegation to be important, and vital to retain the rightful privileges of the nobility."

She thinks a bit.

"I'll think of something, something. Of course, my reputation is thoroughly ruined now thanks to that revolt I pulled, I find it unlikely that Arcadia's children will even support me... Unless, what if we manage to gain the support of the conservative elements of the Latin Empire, those who did not actually blatantly go out against me? It's mostly Arcadia's liberal party which is most vocally against my existence..."

"I think Thrawn had one system for this, but then again we don't teach what Thrawn teachs in our schools...or anywhere unless it is on the military academy. Ngh, I'll remember later on."

He shook his hand on the more-or-less gesture,

"How much and how long is needed to do that, you imagine? As I've said, resources I spare, but I do not know these 'conversatives' as much as I know, well, the other type of conservatives." He said, and then snap his finger, "Since we are planning on going eastward, we could offer them to be the new ruling nobility in the Baltic States, were we to conquer them and we will eventually. Do you think we could pull that off with the baltics on Arcadia's kids?"

"Arcadia herself is Latvian, but her children identify strongly with the Latin cultural identity. Not to mention, the Latin Thrawns do not expressly hold noble titles which rule over some pieces of territory by law, they instead holding executive and civil titles which grant them de facto authority over the land. And this is besides the fact that the Latin Empire only supports the enthronement of the Teutonic Order on the Baltic territories..."

She would come up with a draft methodology for now.

"Maybe a few months, some clandestine meetings with the Dukes of Athens and Philippopolis could help. But I'll have to bribe them to meet me first, they'll just turn me over to the Emperor for cash if I don't bring along good money. The Latin nobility function this way really, it's easy to gain and lose power nowadays."

She then pauses to explain the situation of the Latin conservative faction.

"Well to put things simply, Latin conservatives are allied with the Church, support regional autonomy, and mostly advocate for aristocratic privileges and cultural projects. As far as I know, most Austrians and Southern Germans are conservative, as well as some Italians. They usually oppose any and all political reforms unless it benefits them alone, and they're prone to gullibility."

Caroline would lean on the wall, thrusting her head backwards and sighing.

"I'm not planning on dying... Or getting tortured to near death... But if it's deemed by Heaven to be, then it shall be..."

"Well, that's a new fact I didn't knew. Most Thrawns I knew would jump at the chance of laying their name to some random territory, but the fact that the Latins wish for the enthronement of the old Teutonic Order, most likely, under their influence, could be used to bribe the latins themselves. I gotta admit, I also support for that to be fair."

He would clap his hands in gladness as he smiled,

"Good thing that my pockets are nearly as big as the Pope's. If it is so easy, perhaps it would be in my best interests to jump in quickly before it is too late, compared to German Politics wich is more like a very difficult mind-chess game as it has been before." He would then ask, "If you need more than you have, I have some se- private bank accounts with enough wealth as it is."

He would nod, "Quite different from the hannoverian's conservatism to be fair, I myself don't understand it. But this one is easier to so it seems and I hope, are there anything else that I could manage to get that could be useful to you in your case? If you want to be aware, my family has connections on the vatican as well." He told her.

He would sigh very silently, filling the glasses again.

"I understand, I myself did not plan for...most of all this, I just hope that none of that happens to you."

"Mhm, the Latin Thrawns prefer to empower the ancient nobility rather than themselves. It's the reason why Arcadia had Francis become Emperor, rather than simply enthroning herself as Empress. Aligned with this, it's also the reason why House Wittelsbach has limited authority, because the current system allows for plentiful other houses to exercise political authority within the country."

It seems that, despite actually wanting centralization, the Latin Thrawns are the ones responsible for the amount of empowered nobility, largely due to their desire to keep a balance of power as well as to uphold traditional authority figures.

"I think that I may have just enough for both nobles, but I might take a loan from you if ever they demand for more money. The Duchy of Athens and the Duchy of Philippopolis are powerful fiefs, and their votes count heavily during court sessions. It'll be a good deal for them to come out in favor of pardoning me. My only issue then would be the Byzantines, specifically the Palaiologoi, who'll probably side with the Thrawns in ensuring my capture."

She drinks, and would hiccup from the alcohol diving deep into her system.

"Let's begin now, whilst there is still time. Anatolia will fall any moment now to the Latins, but Syria and West Croatia are still holding out."
