• Name : Polynises
• Type : Terestrial Planet
• Designation : Oceanic Planet of Interest

The planet of Polynises is dominated by a large oceanic body of water of which surrounds the planet's sole supercontinent named Polynia by local inhabitants. Conditions on land are harsh due to the constant solar radiation and brutal aridity the continent possessed. Yet, below the surface, life are flourishing deep within the ocean of the planet of which are dominated by local superorganism and truly magnificent coral reef of various colour and sizes. However, to display the abundance of life in the planet, a simple paragraph would not make justice of the planet's biodiversity, and below are the full account of the biodiversity of the planet, which will constantly be expanded upon. And with it, let's start.

• Lifeform : Stegocaudate / Stegolacaudatus
• Type : Colonial Aquatic Organism
• Habitat : Coral Reef

Meet the Stegocaudate, one of the most emblematic groups of marinal lifeform in Polynises. At a glance, it will have appeared that we have stumbled upon the fish of this world, however these lifeform are although displaying a stark resemblance to normal fishes of other worlds are far more unique and stranger than any lifeform known between the worlds of the stars — colonial organism. Colonial Organisms by definition are lifeforms that in fact are comprised of many millions of individual organisms working in tandem in order to survive. Like organs on lifeforms in general, different individual organisms — which are known as 'zooids' — have different functions, ranging from locomotion, food gathering, food digesting, sensory awareness, and reproduction, with each individual zooids having a different function to other zooids, playing a role in the survival of the larger lifeform. And to understand the way of life of such lifeform, we need to understand the life cycle of a stegocaudate from birth to death.

»»» Life of a Stegocaudate :

The life of a stegocaudate starts from the larvae stage of its life of which it has been hatched from an egg laid by an adult stegocaudate — however a stegocaudate does not in fact have a gender, meaning an egg of a stegocaudate are laid by firstly being produced by a stegocaudate's reproductive zooid which then are laid onto the open ocean —. The larvae of a stegocaudate does not possess distinctive fish like structure an adult stegocaudate possess as its shell — which formed its fish like appearance — are yet to be developed and are covered inside of a membrane, speculated to hold the purpose of protecting the still delicate shell from outside particles or objects in order to prevent it from being deformed or shattered. A young stegocaudate are additionally semi-transparent as to the organisms displaying its colours have yet to be developed in its early stages of life.

However, as they grow older, their shells — which as mentioned above first are covered in a transparent membrane — becomes more prominent as the membrane fades away and allowing the shell to develop into its distinctive shape od adults. Its zooids becomes more developed as it formed multiple zooids performing different role for the survival of the larger stegocaudate organism.

The end result are a highly unique and unusual lifeform with exposed digestive and reproductive zooida of which are enclosed within a fish-shaped outer shell. The shell of a stegocaudate are additionally extremely light, allowing the stegocaudate to swim freely within the vast ocean of Polynises, in addition to being able to perform hydroacrobatic actions if it were threatened by other predatory lifeform. The stegocaudate are additionally able to extend its digestive zooids — from what is seemingly a plant-like protrusion in the location where normally a mouth are located — to vacuum the surrounding water of its nutrients and microscopic lifeform which the stegocaudate feeds off.

Upon its inevitable death, the hollow and light shell of a stegocaudate are commonly found washed away into the sandy beaches of the supercontinent of Polynia with its digestive and reproductive zooids fading away upon its death of either natural occurrence or by foreign occurrence, such as the event of a stegocaudate being a prey to a more predatory lifeform in the vast ocean of Polynises.
