OOC: Well there's been map updates like you said. That occurred in a global event in which the Lemurians succeeded in powering their portal which caused a parallel reality to be destroyed/collapse onto our reality (to justify the movement of nations to different hemispheres.) Basically there were mostly minute changes that people had fuzzy memories about. A feeling of knowing something is off or different but not being able to really say what.
There is a global pandemic going on with a form of coronavirus that scientists have been able to determine was engineered. It is unknown if its release was intentional or an accident. No nation has yet come forward. This virus has caused the governments of several nations to collapse entirely (To justify the mass CTE of nations that occurred a few months back). The UNB has sent out peacekeepers to secure these fallen areas which is putting a strain on the UNB war effort.
The Lemurian war is moving on a bit with two special forces teams, one from Garnel and one from Volohk, which were sent to Oriab to infiltrate that country, create an underground network or contacts and spies starting with the more rebellious desert nomads. After that is done the plan is to get intel on Lemuria's plans and stuff like that and then try to start a revolution or something in Oriab to knock them out of the war.
Basically the world's on fire in more ways than one and the UNB is on shaky ground when it comes to trying to hold things together.

OCC: Thank you for the catch-up, but I have to admit of all of my guesses, I would have never expected that option to occur. Interesting. I might have to spend a day re-reading over everything to get the jist but your information has helped me greatly. I love how this turned out and I am really glad I returned. I will rev Barbaria back to its active state once again. I have a series of ideas that I can now play out to make this really intriguing.
Vostag and Garnel
President Vinn makes a world-wide announcement in regards to current events, and issues.
"Greetings my fellow Soverns, leaders of the world, friends, and enemies." President Vinn addresses, "We are in dire times, as an unusal coming of events has rendered our reality to uncertainty. We must not be weary, nor should we give in to despair. Instead, we must push forward. No war, and no pandemic should hold us to a wall - we have been in worse situations. Our lands have varied cultures, ideologies, and norms; that shouldn't be the factor that divides us." he briefly pauses and is handed some pieces of concealed pieces of paper.
"In regards to Sovern's policy on this pandemic, this nation will continue to ban immigration. It will continue trade, but terms will be implemented to sustain a sanitary environment between nations. I will not have Sovern be responsible for the spread of this disease, but I will be damned if I be the one that harms our economy - or even our world's economy. Sovern will also be dedicating to investing in the investigation of this pandemic, and research on how it can stopped."
"With what is going on in the world, Sovern will continue its foreign policy on progressive trading, maintaining positive relationships with our allies, and properly handling disputes through an intial communication process - instead of resulting to hostilities or economic abuse. Sovern will wish to sustain all of its trade routes, and protect them from piracy or foreign governments. Sovern will continue its support during the ongoing war with Lemeria and its allies. I will await any and all directives from the UNB. May Sovern prosper in these difficult times."
"Domestically, Sovern will be presuing a program to combat this ongoing pandemic in our nation. I will be activating the Sovern Sentinel to distribute and and all resources to hospiticals, clinics, and other healthcare-based institutions. The Sovern government will be redirecting all education to online services with a new national circulum. Essential travel is permitted, but public places like parks, beaches, and other recreational properties will be suspended and closed. All public programs will be suspended unless they are considered essential. I have appointed various personels to accomdate a body known as the Sovern Preservation Committee, which will be directed to advise me, and other officials, on how to appraoch this pandemic. I advise all citizens to remain calm, maintain approperiate sanitation practices, and direct and and all concerns to the previously mentioned commitee and hopefully we can work together. Thank you." President Vinn finishes and signs off.
The Sentinel has organized several divisionary positions to aid in the transportation of medical equipment, provide emergency healthcare, and apply additional security to properties or areas that require it. All trade shipping has been monitored, and all hulls have been mandated to routinely clean their instruments and facilities. Any and all goods that have been damaged, spoiled, or hinted with any trace of the pathogen will be immediately destroyed and financially compensated by the Sovern government.
"A Brave - New Sovern!"
While the world is facing an uncertain series of events, the Sovern machine will not faulter to this negativity. As we speak, Sovern's Congress is passing a bill that would begin funding various countries around the world in an effort to keep the world economy booming, and Sovern's industry's buzzing despict backlashed sanitatary regulations. Sovern's government will also be paying various construction companies to repair, update, and extend infastructure all over Barbaria! Nations that wish to apply are more than welcome to. When accepted, your nation will be entitled to low-interest loans, updated infastructure, and technology to help combat this pandemic. Even though these seems like an unbelievable offer, everything costs money. Sovern may have a surplus of cash to throw around, but all most be returned so inflation and other unfortunate trouble doesn't brew. However, a low-interest contract will amend to whatever a country needs and negotiation over said contracts is completely fluid and fair! This will be known as the "Barbarian New Deal".

- A privately-owned security company that specializes in protecting cargo holds.
IC: Kaiser Odinson sits in his office having a meeting with some of his advisors and industry leaders about the pandemic.
"So how are we?" Asks the Kaiser.
"Well sir we have stay at home orders restricting all non-essential travel, mask and glove requirements for all citizens who go out, and strict cleaning standards in effect. So far we've been lucky and only 0.026% of the population or roughly 3,900,000 infected." Answers one advisor.
"Yes sir we believe our low infection rate has been due to fast action on our part coupled with our Med-Tek "Prevent" vaccine which covers several naturally occurring coronaviruses. So we thankfully have a bit of a resistance against this disease." Answers another advisor.
"Good. That is why you're here Dr. Tournquist," says Kaiser Odinson addressing Dr. Wayne Tournquist, CEO of Med-Tek; "I want Med-Tek to be heading up all research into this virus." Says Kaiser Odinson pointing at Dr. Tournquist.
"Well Kaiser Odinson I can assure you that Med-Tek's top minds are on the case. As soon as this virus became known as a global threat we went to work into researching what we could about it and began looking for a cure." Responds the Doctor.
OCC: If only NationStates had a market feature like Victoria 2...I've been very interested in how the market works and the sudle affects that could impact it.
RMB response: Vostag doesn't have just one top priority. Vostag isn't a broke dictatorial backwater like North Korea that only has enough money and resources to focus on one thing at a time.
Environment: Vostag's big priority in regards to the environment is conservationism rather than environmentalism. Basically the goal is to preserve nature for future generations. The big goal here is sustainability. Vostag learned a long time ago how important it is to maintain a healthy balance and protecting nature.
Civil Rights: Civil rights or rights in general are very important in Vostag. It is the common view in Vostag that the role of government is to identify and protect rights not take them away. All are equal here.
Education: The educational priority of Vostag is to make the next generation ready for the jobs of tomorrow. Part of this is specialization on students. It is determined what students are best at, helping them get better in areas they are weaker at but focusing on getting them into areas and fields where they will excel the most.
Military: The military priority is to 1: maintain superiority, 2: maintain an ability to fight multiple conflicts on multiple fronts, and 3: maintain an ability to rapidly mobilize and deploy force anywhere.
Healthcare: The maintenance or improvement of health via the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and cure of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in people.
Economy: To maintain and grow favorable trade relationships with other nations while making sure to remain independent.

Sovern has maintained a powerful streak over its economic dominion, and it has faced no challengers since its dawn. Tritra and Velkisa have practically began vassals to Sovern's reign. They have been bought out, and made soft. The Bretans have even managed to cozy up to the Volekians!" the Holy Emperor rages on, "However, even though the Holy Barbarian Empire considers Sovern a friend and an ally, we will challenege the Sovern machine, and best them at their own gain. I declare a friendly riverally against the Federation of Sovern. We need more competition on our playing field. While the Hyperboreans have a godly economy, even they are bested in terms of trade power by the Soverns. I don't know what it is about Sovern and their trade deals, but no longer will they be the king of the trade routes. Thank you for your undivided attention, and God bless his Holy Empire!"

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I'm Wulf Blitzkrieg. We have a fascinating story for you tonight ladies and gentlemen about a sunken Lemurian submarine and...UFOs?"
The news anchor, standing in a room of monitors showing the CNN logo in various sizes looks into a different camera.
"That's right. Just a few days ago a few surviving crew members of the sunken Lemurian submarine were picked up far out at sea by a ship of the Hyperborean Merchant Marine making a return trip to Hyperborea from Garnel. The Lemurian POWs claimed that their submarine was attacked sunk by a UFO. Our very own Andrew Bodker has the story, Andrew."
The live video feed shifts to a reporter in the field with a cargo ship visible in the background.
"That's right Wulf. We lucky enough to get a chance to interview with Lemurian POWs to get their account of the events that took place out at sea just a few nights ago."
-cuts to the interview-
"We had been out at sea for three months plying our hands at commerce raiding. It was a dark, calm, and moonless night and the captain said he saw something strange on the periscope. So strange that it warranted our rising to the surface. We hadn't encountered any ships for some time so we felt safe. The captain took a few of us and went up on the deck to look around. The sub was still going at a low cruise. We looked around using binoculars and thermal optics and were unable to see anything when suddenly we noticed that the sub had stopped. The engines were still chugging away but something had managed to bring us to a gentle stop without us barely noticing. That's when we heard it. That bloodcurdling, spine-chilling sound. It was indescribable. Like a horn of doom signaling the end of the world. As soon as you heard it a sense of unease, dread, and impending doom came over us all.
Sanjay noticed the water acting strangely off the bow and that there were strange currents of air that seemed to be emanating from there. Sanjay, Rajput, and I climbed down from the deck of the conning tower onto the bow deck to investigate when suddenly it appeared as if from the ether. A large, disc-shaped craft suddenly appeared at the bow of the ship. Its edge was in contact with the very tip of the bow and must've been what had stopped us. The captain pulled out his pistol and began firing at the craft to no effect before suddenly dropping his weapon with a scream. His hand had been burned as if by some invisible force. Marahraja gave a running start along the length of the deck before trying to jump onto the craft. A beam like lightning shot out from the craft and killed him as soon as he was in the air. His limp body slammed on the exterior of the craft which simply turned in place a few degrees and tilted on its axis to have his body slide off into the sea. Then there was a pulse of wind from its underbelly and it began to slowly rise into the air a few meters. The pulse and the sudden movement of the craft keeping us in place caused the bow to submerge into the water like a knife into cake. Sanjay, Rajput, and I ran up the deck and just managed to grab the railing of the conning tower as the stern of the sub rose so far out of the water that all the screws were in the open air. It was then that the strange craft sent a cluster of flaming shot through the air bisecting the sub in twain. Then it vanished into the night. It's wrath unleashed having stirred the sea into a storm.Sanjay, Rajput, and I are all who survived."
-cut to the field reporter-
"An incredible tale whether it's true or not. Some claim they are just trying to stir fears during these crazy times. Who knows? The three men were found by the Merchant Mariner ship Celeste after having drifted along the shipping lanes for four days. After our interview the three POWs were taken into custody by the military police. It's unknown what happens to them after this. Wulf."
The feed shifts back to Wulf Blitzkrieg in the studio.
"Quite a tale indeed. Of course the history of modern UFO sightings began in June of 11947 by a civilian pilot who described a group of reflective, saucer-like craft spotted during a business flight. This was followed a month later by July 11947 Rockwell UFO crash in which a UFO supposedly crashed and was recovered and covered up by the Hyperborean Air Force who claimed it to be a weather balloon.
Who knows really? But no matter what. If there are UFOs out there it appears that they are on our side... for the time being at least. I'm Wulf Blitzkrieg and this has been a Commoriom News Network special report. Goodnight."
The early morning breeze awakes President Dellis from his deep slumber, his eyes widen and a scent of a smile enlightens his mood. He is prepared his morning tea and eggs, serving himself solitude for the issues of the day. Dellis is an elderly man, who has already passed his mid-life crisis, and has found joy in rebuilding his nation. President Dellis has served the Tritran Royal Guard before it was disbanded, and was shortly appointed a member of the Generals' Circle. Once the first elections came into play, he became politically involved in the Tritran legal system and wanted to do more for his country and its citizens, who have been dazed by the fall of the previous regime. After engulfing himself with space and time, and an accopmanied meal, he is ready for the day to come.
*a deep inhale*
"Let's do this!" he tells himself as he opens his chamber's door, and become absorbed in the mayhem in the Manor's corridors as journalists, statesmen, and even citizens can be seen bombarding the President's space. There is a lot to do.
*another deep inhale*
The President can be seen attending a meeting with the nation's newest legislative branch, who is distressed by piles of paperwork that stack themselves to the ceiling. President Dellis takes his seat at the approperiate chair, and clears his throat for all to hear. He retracks himself from the microphone and begins...
*a final inhale*
"Tritra has a alot of reorganization, and I can clearly see that. Let's take our time and go through all that we need to. Instead of adding more to the mix, and throwing more stress on our shoulders. We can begin by basing the government structure on the first union - the first Confederate States of Tritra, and go from there. Then we will exsponge our foreign and domestic policies as one."
After vigorous debate, note taking, and crying under the desk several times, a structrue has been made. Tritra will go completely based off of its original structure before it transformed into a monarchy. Its domestic policy will be focusing on investigating the virus, researching a vaccine, maintaining economic activity while keeping its citizens safe. Slavery was introduced, and sadly the citizens of former-Northern Aljuk will be the prime cattle. A castration system was put in place to eliminate any chances of the Aljuks from reproducing unless needed. All Aljuks from Northern Aljuk Isle were registered and auctions have appeared everywhere in order to sell of the herds in masse. A legure of rights have been implemented for all slaves to sustain a balance of servitude, with humanitarian thought. Land that once belonged to the Aljuks were sold to Tritrans, and a massive migration toke place with millions of Tritrans developing former Aljuk lands in an effort to jumpstart the economy. To prevent loss of property, all Aljuks that were enslaved were microchipped and branded to insure they couldn't escape and settle on other lands.
In regards to foreign policy, Tritra will remain completely and utterly isolationist as it once were, but with some exceptions. Seeing as it is Tritra's duty to protect its interests, it will remain at the war against Lumeria and provide financial support for the United Nations of Barbaria to prevent further complications. In this sense, Tritra has committed to 'limited isolation'. Tritra will also keep the peace in Upper Barbaria by sustaining positive relationships with its Voliek brother nations like Sovern, Velkisa, and South Carambe. Tritra will also begin updating its military and begin a program to completely overhaul its defensive systems by building anti-aircraft fortifications, bunkers, and the complete intrenchment of the Tritran-Bigtopian border to prevent an attack in case the Lemerians invade the inner-upper nations. A complete state of defense has been put up with limit conscription to prevent heavy economic pull by the military.
I agree with that, but the chance of that happening is slim to none if I may say.

Holy Emperor Mathew Caline I. summons the Presidents of 
Sovern, and Volohk, to a video call. The subject of this meeting relates to preserving peace, and stability, for Barbaria. Subjects and assistants to these Presidents are more than welcome to be involved in the meeting, but it must remain secure, and private. I also wish to summon the Kaiser of 
Vostag to act as a third party observer for this meeting since Hyperborea has very close friendships with Sovern, and Volohk.
