Ophelia rarely made appearances in the hall of the Hegemonic Council, it was up to Lembas to take care of that aspect of diplomacy, however, with the recent expedition to colonise and absorb 15,000 systems into the Equestrian State, Ophelia felt it necessary to discuss the matter, as such she'd make a rare appearance, giving a speech which both celebrated her 60+ years on the throne and heralded a new era for Equestrian-Hegemonic Relations.

"When I was young, I won a great victory...and at that moment I thought I should live forever...indeed my friends I was not wrong in that assumption, I now know indeed that I shall live nearly forever, ruling my nation for 1000 years. However, establishing myself and maintaining my victories was not an easy choice, hardly, you see, I had a choice to make...one which would make or break my reign and my legacy. I could accept my position under the Hegemony as a vassal, or I could rebel. However, I am glad I chose not to rebel, for many things, things both wonderful and glorious wouldn't have occurred. The Equestrian homeworld wouldn't have been united under the Equestrian crown, the Ontarion galaxy wouldn't have become known across two...no three galaxies. House LaFleur would be nothing more than an afterthought, a bad taste in the mouths of the Hegemony. Winston Churchill wouldn't have become the governor of Artemis Jerusalem, and stood strongly against the Untecnan folly. Indeed many things wouldn't have happened had I chosen to rebel. Yes, I can agree that in the beginning there were rough patches, a few stern talking to's here and there, however, those things are now in the past, and Equestria surges forward.

As many of you are aware, Equestria has set its eyes on 15,000 planetary systems within its home galaxy, a move to further secure our victories, and to allow the crown of victory, the laurel wreath, to continue to shine brightly from Equestria. Now I am aware that there are probably some within this government who have concerns about a vassal gaining such power and wealth and expanse, however, I happen to have a record here of 81-years of Equestrian loyalty to the Hegemony. Proof that Equestria is not a trouble to the Hegemony, and that these expansion I have planned out will not cause issue to the Hegemony, but will aid in securing their wealth and power over the Ontarion Galaxy.

Indeed, as I speak...already 5,000 new systems have fallen to the hand of Equestria, we have found over 340 new species of plant, 1,200 new elements of rock and diamond and other materials which we have yet to identify, countless animalia both sentient and simple have been discovered, and an estimated 2.6 trillion Florins are estimated to come annually from these 5,000 systems alone.

In the end you'll find that Equestrian expansion will benefit us all in the long run, unlike Untecnan expansions, you have a people and a ruler who are loyal to the values which the Autarch and Imperator share, as such unless there is a grave objection to these expansions we shall continue them, and we shall continue bringing Equestria further into the future."

She paused, taking a sip of water before continuing, her tone changing from one of grandeur to a slight joking one.

"Now, it is custom in Equestria, apparently, to bring a corpse into a public function...however...my publicists have warned me not to participate in this custom, so as such I was unable to bring a corpse to the Hegemonic show and tell...anyways I wish to thank you all for putting up with an old mare and I bless technocracy with my fullest heart."

She would nod slightly before leaving Lembas alone in his seat.

A Battle with Space Pirates

In between Nigerian, Columbian, and Hegemonic space there was a confederation of Space Pirates. A den of raiders, privateers, and bandits had formed. The various systems it had come to occupy were barren and full of nothing but stone and sometimes water. There were few which held useful minerals and fewer which could hold actual cities or factories. There were even sectors of what used to be actual planets which had been mined out. The land was impoverished, so much so no empire even considered it useful to conquer it. What was worse for them is that many useful planets such as the current Neo-Lagos had been conquered by the Nigerians and they couldn't even do anything about it.

They only had one thing to help them eke out a meager existence, a Space Fleet.

This space fleet would often be used to attempt to raid Hegemonic, Columbian and Nigerian space. Often however these raids would be useless granting them little and where there were good targets, they were way more protected than they could handle. Nonetheless they still tried to attack all three realms, often trying to take advantage of more important wars to attack some valuable target, often losing to whatever less important and weaker fleets of all three countries. They would gain the reputation of being a galactic laughingstock because of this loss after loss. Decades and decades would go by with the same routine happening and their prestige being practically nonexistent. When the Hegemony declared war on The Near Core Confederacy and started The War of the Near Core, they would quickly ban all attacks on the Hegemony in fear of being pushed into The War of the Near Core. After this they would focus on attempting to raid Nigeria and Columbia. After only 4 years they would get into combat with an unimportant local Columbian fleet essentially doing a side quest and get absolutely smashed, forcing them to ban raiding into Columbia too. This would lead to one option, raiding Nigeria.

On May 17th, 2728, Neo Lagos would suddenly be placed under attack. A blockade had been put up around the planet and the Pirates demanded a large sum of loot from them, stating that any refusal would lead to a bombardment. This would be extremely bold as often they would attack less important planets instead of the literal capital. The Nigerians would quickly refuse and the 4th fleet which was defending Neo-Lagos at the time would be sent out to end the blockade of Neo-Lagos. The first shot would be from a Nigerian Destroyer, beginning the war. Quickly various Nigerian News Sources and the Government would begin referring to the war as "The Pirate War". On the first day alone, the Nigerian Fleet would inflict massive damage as despite all their posturing directly prior to the war their fleet was as weak as ever. Pirate combat reports would reveal huge losses compared to very minimal losses in Nigerian combat reports. On the second day the 1st Nigerian Fleet would enter into the Neo-Lagos System due to distress signals. The 1st fleet would then pincer the pirate fleet from their planned escape route on complete accident. While there would be less causalities for the Pirates their situation would become more and more dire. Also, on this day the pirates would attempt an orbital bombardment on Neo-Lagos in a raid, however their attack would be stopped before they could even bombard 5% of the planet. On the third day the pirate fleet would attempt to escape via their escape route however they would just ram into Nigerian fire as nearly half of their remaining fleet would be destroyed in a 36-hour period until the fourth day. On the fourth day the fleet's captain would decide to officially surrender his fleet and men, however some stragglers would still resist until May 22nd.

On May 22nd as well Empress Charlotte would address the provisional parliament set up in a new building near the center of Neo Lagos City, which was built after the Orano-Nigerian war. She would enter the Parliament Hall and walk up to the podium; she would stand there for a second looking around at the MPs before beginning to speak.

"Prime Minister, Members of Parliament. Five Days ago, May 17th, 2728, Nigeria was put under attack by Space Forces. Privateers and Bandits attempted to extract money and resources from our Country. We said no. Five Days Ago, Pirate forces attacked Neo-Lagos. Three Days Ago, Pirates attacked Alabos. Yesterday, Pirates attacked Urwälder. This Morning, Pirates attacked Jadazar. These Pirates have undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout Nigerian Space. These events speak for themselves! The people of the Nigerian Empire have already made their opinions and well understand it's consequences to the very safety of our nation. Always our people will remember the character of these attacks. As Empress of Nigeria, I request that the Military and Space Fleet be fully able to undertake the necessary operations to defeat this enemy. Mr Prime Minister and Members of Parliament, I request that Nigeria officially begin a war against these Pirates. No matter how long it takes for our servicemen to triumph we will fight on."

She would be met by applause by the Members of Parliament. Hours later in a unanimous vote among Parliament Nigeria would officially declare war on the Pirates and would give the military the full ability to use any means necessary to destroy them.

Just so you know my half of the nation doesn't give an utter damn, and probably just nodded along this speech.

Don't assume I have reservations about you. You failed me thrice, you aren't getting fourth chances, as I have said long ago. If you rise or fall it's up to you, I'll help you rise but I certainly won't carry you, etc etc etc.

What does offend me is the utter and total lack of complementary corpse.
