Well, aside from dealing with the catastrophic impact of the plagues, the government would also have to face the potentially society and economy-destroying ramifications such events would have on the US and the world at large. I would expect a refugee crisis as people try to flee the US, and complete global economic collapse. It's also very likely the government would just straight up collapse.
