Does anybody else use proportional representation?
One man = One vote. Seats in the Pnyx are assigned based on the popular vote. The party that forms a coalition first gets to be the government. The Premier is elected separately, but it usually corresponds to the seats in the Pnyx. Whomever wins the popular vote becomes Premier.
He will return.
Why?
This.
We have awoken. Forgive the extended silence from the Department of Regional Affairs, once more we have risen from the ashes of civil war. The attempted 2020 coup by the Socialist Workers League and splinter groups of the Ultoriethian Expeditionary Legion left us occupied on the homefront, leaving little time to focus on Oatlandian military affairs.
Now, it seems, word has reached our office about a new socialist threat to our beloved Oatland. As supreme commander of ALL military assets within the Empire, the newly elected High Commander V wishes to remind all nations that a MISMANAGED working population or military is subject to being conscripted for the Legions. We hope that no further discussion is warranted. Hail, High Commander Five!!

The guy did come off as pretty threatening with the "I'll take matters into my own hands" thing.
Socialism is pretty awful, but doesn't the Oatland constitution says that country are allowed to have Independent policies.
You take that back...
In my humble opinion, states should be allowed to form unions by themselves, but said unions should not possess much power in Oatland. If there is a vote, they may act as a voting bloc, and they should have power to unanimously suggest decisions, but nothing more. The unions should be, to an extent, ceremonial, and possess the bare minimum amount of power.
No individual nation has any more power whether or not they identify with a 'union' or 'subdivision'. There is no crisis, and there wasn't one. Perhaps it would be beneficial to everyone to take a quick look at the constitution article 2, section 1, to clear up any misunderstanding. Additionally, the Wonderland is kind of hurt that The New israeli states feels it necessary to hold socialism in contempt. The people of the wonderland decided on exactly everything in the government, an insult to our government is an insult to us all.
Matter of principle really. We're all one, with all our differences, under imperial sovereignty. Creating official blocs and distinctions based on our differences seems an unhealthy practice when it comes to regional cohesion. Birds of a feather will vote together anyway.
You kind of have a point there, I was thinking that Unions should merely be ceremonial and not hold power.
Also, unrelated, but I have a question. I was considering joining the WA, and I would like to enquire if this is a good decision.
What's a backwater state? Also, I was thinking, like, what are the pros and cons to the WA.
A backwater is an unimportant middle of nowhere kind of place. The pros are being able to influence world affairs. The cons are being involved in world affairs.
So overall would you say it's good or bad? Would you recommend other states to join?

*Laughs in frightening economy and excellent political freedoms*
*Laughs in stunning economic equality*
So like, the Middle East?
