27 August 2020 at around 01:00 Central Standard Time, Category 4 Hurricane Laura made landfall in Cameron, Cameron Parish, Louisiana with sustained winds of 150 mph. It has been unsettling seeing the images coming out of Cameron and Holly Beach, and in Calcasieu Parish, The damage that has surfaced in Lake Charles. Imagining that, If Laura jogged further East than it did making landfall as I originally predicted in Vermillion Parish, I would have gotten much more damage than trees, a flooded street, and power outage. It’s also hard and heart breaking to hear that one of Laura’s victims was a 14 year old girl who was reading a book in her room when a tree fell into the family’s house, crushing her. Laura however continues on a path forging from damaging winds over Arkansas and Central and Northern Louisiana, it is expected to be picked up by either the Jet Stream or the Low High that brought it into Louisiana sweeping through Appalachia before exiting near DC.
In hindsight of this major disaster, It has brought the people of Louisiana and Texas closer together in a deep bond. For a storm that came and left quickly, Its’ impacts will forever be felt in the memories of the people of Southwestern Louisiana, just like Hurricane Rita in 2005.
On a personal level, I am lucky, and as you can guess I do live in Louisiana by stating this, My parish is lucky to have only gotten brief spin up tornadoes compared to the damage that Cameron, Calcasieu, Beauagard, and parishes extending for Caddo received. God Bless these people.

GMO International Trade Accord is currently at vote in the General Assembly. Among other things, the resolution aims to start a committee to oversee the regulations, and I will therefore be voting AGAINST this measure.
Also at vote is a resolution to Repeal: “Commend Evil Wolf.” I must admit that I was divided on this vote due to the legislation specifically mentioning Evil Wolf’s contributions to furthering fascism. However, without the guiding principles of DEAREST LEADERISM, one cannot truly hope to spread authoritarianism properly, and I will vote FOR this resolution.
