They ate my crops.

That reminds me of when chickens on the acreage where killed by, a mink, a fox, a racoon, and even a red hawk.

*Sigh*

Nature sure is brutal to farmers.

The only one to survive the fox was a mother and her chicks. Mother chickens apparently are very defensive and mean to anyone that messes with them.

aren’t farmers exploiting nature for monetary gain?

Yes, but humans aren't the only farmers in the world, we aren't even the first species to perform agriculture.

Euricanis wrote:aren’t farmers exploiting nature for monetary gain?

Way I see it, an animal doesn't really know they're being exploited, even until they die. Only way they know is when they're being treated horribly.

it’s not like those other species are farming for monetary gain or have decimated ecosystems in many other ways

That I can give you, we really need to adopt way better farming practices. It pains me that some people in Iowa can't see how it's a bad thing to let junk and pesticides just flow into rivers.

Today is the 75th Anniversary of the Nagasaki Bombing of WW2.

This was the day modern warfare changed forever.

Haha, there's this quote that I don't know where it comes from, but it's really interesting to think about.

"The Hiroshima Bombing was to win against Japan and the Nagasaki Bombing was to win against the USSR."

Or something along those lines.

Running off the momentum of his first reform passing, President Brandt declares that he’s “passing down the big stick” and has tasked his Vice President, Karla Lehmann, and the Ministry of Labor to start audits and fines on companies that have failed to comply with safety regulations and worker’s compensation laws in a continuation on his war on poverty, an issue long ignored.

Brethren wrote:I thought they were both mainly to test the bombs.

I mean, the bombs were meant for Mr. Moustache Man in Germany. But the war was practically over in Europe.

The 'Muricans had a few bombs on hand while they were fighting an enemy that wouldn't back down. Then somebody thought "Hey, remember those bombs?" (Source: Some Dude or something, idk)

The first bomb on Hiroshima caused some of the Hardliner IJA Generals a great amount of concern. The Nagasaki bomb actually wasn't supposed to be on Nagasaki and actually Kokura. But due to low visibility, they were to divert to Nagasaki, a major Mitsubishi production and manufacturing city.

The second bomb really made some of the Hardliner Generals switch to the Surrender Option. With the political balance of Generals tipped towards the more Surrender-oriented military leader, they approached the emperor to put an end to the war.

If my information is correct, the Soviets were actually planning to invade Japan in a final offensive after the fall of Mr. Moustache Man. The surrender of the Japanese Empire essentially ended that idea.

The bombings of the two cities really put the Soviet Union on edge and they began their Atomic Weapons Development program soon after
