I for one welcome our new rainbow overlords

The Atlae Isles wrote:I for one welcome our new rainbow overlords

almost as eye-searing as the yuno pink

After that meeting, the signatories returned to their homes and began their plans. The first of their plans was a nice protest that would happen outside the Imperial Palace in the capitol city of Paragould. They knew that this protest wouldn't get very far, but it was a good front for the recruitment of new revolutionaries for the cause. They were taking their first steps. They set up propaganda posters all over town, and gave out fliers for people to save the date. They managed to catch the eye of the Volinovian Intelligence Service, the VIS. The VIS quickly created a file on them, but they weren't that large of a concern to the government. A new group who seemed to be pushing for change in a peaceful way was always welcomed in Volinovia. Their request for a protest permit was accepted and both the Local Police and the VFA made their plans. The day of the protest came quick. There were marches, live music, and even some street food dealers were taking advantage of the situation. The Paragould Police Department was on the scene where they were keeping the Protest in line with the law, and busting the few people who decided to bring illegal items to the protest.

A man stands on the podium constructed for protests like this. "Volinovia needs democracy, the people need to be able to decide the future of this country themselves! We need representatives so that our wills can be heard. It is imperative that we change this country for the better. The King does not represent our views, and what happens if he decides that we don't have any rights anymore? Who stops him from that? The Supreme Court can just be ignored if the King's Generals say so. Any change towards democracy is better than none, but we cannot accept a compromise, we will accept nothing less than a total change in the ways that Volinovia is ruled. For the better of everyone here!" The crowd cheers and claps.

As he is speaking there are people in the crowd who are grabbing a few of the more enthused in the words that the is saying and trying to get them to become members in the VFA. Among these people they found military officers, off duty police officers, even some government officials. The recruiters don't tell much, other then what most of the people already know. That they are looking for members to make change. They don't mention that the change they are looking for might have to come from more violent means.

"But that wasn't needed information yet. And who knows, maybe the king would take notice of their protest and decide that the time was right for change." A recruiter thinks in his head. This man is Francis Halbert. He has always been a radical, he doesn't want to kill but he has accepted the reality of the situation. He has seen the slow change of countries himself. Through the civil wars of Estande and Karatol-Advenra. Not to mention he has seen more then unstable country of Socialist republic of kurikia try and pull itself from the ashes, only to see it dragged back in by greed and powerhungry men. He didn't want the same for his country. He wanted his children to be free. He wanted to be at the top of the ladder. He wanted to craft the future he wanted to see for his children himself.

So I’m curious about something. When I was younger (like 14) I wanted to play softball. My parents said yes and I tried out. I made the team however I was a benchwarmer. I wasn’t improving no matter how hard I practiced, the other girls on the team were (as adolescent brats do) harassing me for sucking so bad, and I was far from being the coaches priority. (Even in practice I rode the bench nonstop which was eyebrow raising.)

I decided with a level head softball just wasn’t my sport and I wanted to quit the team because I wasn’t making any improvement over weeks and weeks and had honestly grown to hate going to practice every afternoon. I told my dad and he refused and every time I’d make a point or argument he’d give me this “If you quit the team then you’ll be a quitter all your life.”

... I mean is there any sort of base evidence or logic at all to support that ??

are you currently a quitter?

I actually like this flag.

I am not. I have quit other things in life HOWEVER my personal rule is to see things all the way through unless it’s something I just can’t do. Like the softball thing. I only wanted to quit when it just became unbearable and not fun.

Basically I don’t beat my head against a brick wall. When I think I just can’t do it or it’s beyond my grasp I stop trying. But only then.

I'm sure he just means "don't get into the habit of giving up whenever things get hard".

You seem to have a level head about it.

Pick and choose your battles. It's just softball. I mean, unless it's paying your bills or something. Which it doesn't sound like it is.

He's just saying to put in your effort. If you quit every time things are bad then you will be a quitter. Your response to when things are bad will shape the type of person you become.

I see how you mean. Like I said to someone else, I don’t quit the minute things get really tough. Typically I only quit when I see absolutely no results and nothing changes for the better.

I just feel like his base premise is flawed. Like yes your actions shape you as a person but me quitting the softball team that time years and years ago didn’t make me a quitter for life.

You're correct it didn't. But it could've created a chain of actions, if you will. Young people make rash decisions. If you quit one thing because it was hard you could want to quit another thing, and so on. I am sure you didn't grow up to be a quitter. But he was probably just looking out for you.

I feel you there. Good points. I feel like maybe he could’ve just enunciated better. I was 14 and my impression was “if you quit ONE thing ever you’ll quit everything ever.”
