Humanity's great empire has died, and with it, the Earth and the Sol System is naught but the ashes of a nova. Alien empires and strange eddies scour the void, marking their new domains and feeding upon the corpse of Human achievement. With the last of Earth and the Universal Empire's memory having died, a new age has spawned, one in which all fates and their journeys remain wholly uncertain.

As the shuttle approached the opening, the dock itself seemed to extend and grow, almost like it was a grasping and living organism. As the docking sections met, they sealed to each other as a blackish-green liquid spilled from the alien craft and created an airtight pathway. There was nothing obstructing the path of the researchers as they found themselves face-to-face with the bowels of the alien ship.

Inside was pitch black. nothing but a slow thrumming filled the air, like the heartbeat of a massive creature . . .

A Disabled Derelict

The small team of ship's officers began to explore throughout the alien ship, unnerved by the constant thrum-thrum of the craft. The science officer was the first to happen upon the pillar of flesh.

"Captain, you'll want to come see this." The Captain immediately hurried into the large room, and was aghast at what he saw: a twelve-foot tall pillar of eyes surrounded by computer screens of all types. He and the science officer began to check around the room on the computer screens.

"Here, take a look at this," the Captain called to his officer. He pointed to alien figures on the screen in front of him. "This thing's been hurtling around with little to no power for weeks. I wonder where it comes from." He turned around to the pillar of eyes and approached them. "But where the hell is this thing from? And what's this pillar in the middle here?"

The Alphox fleet began to steadily pull back, firing off another salvo of missiles, still having enough to launch another massive volley, but more spread out this time. Included in this volley now were loitering munitions, which were launched closer to their own fleet, alongside a cadre of light and heavy drone kill-vehicles. The drones would hover forth, remaining in place as they began to fire on the approaching fighters with their laser weaponry and kinetic rounds from a fair distance.

SOTAHSEL and Malaya SB Vipers would engage as well, disconnecting from the docking bays of their ships as they began to speed forwards. The ships were mainly equipped with anti-ship missiles, and the Malaya Viper carrying a rather heavy assortment of missiles, rockets, and a powerful laser cannon to engage the enemy fighters and larger vessels on the approach. Each of the fighters would begin by letting loose their 300mt nukes, and breaking formation, letting the powerful munitions explode via remote detonation near the approaching Breen fleet.

In the systems over, the Jade Armada began their assaults all across the southern territories through different battle groupings. The largest groupings would be focused on capturing the nearby adjacent systems in order to lock them down anticipating the arrival of enemy forces, while the ISN Hoyau made... an interesting move.

The ISN broke formation, and was followed by four Xihenna battleships. They would make an immediate jump for Myrte's fleet, but aimed their trajectory just somewhere behind or even above the Breen fleet, using the information gathered for them by the Leopon command ships. Battleships would turn, and the mighty leviathan would launch into FTL, dropping their coordinates onto the Breen fleet, while the battleships aimed their path just behind to provide additional firepower at a range.

What's in an acronym?
After the experience with providing APSIS to the Orellian Coalition, and an overall realisation that APSIS's extensive implants and gruelling training may be difficult for other nations to accept, Torrin Industries has announced the release of a new form of the APSIS technology, called PERIAPSIS.
Standing for Parasympathetic Entry, Reduced Intrusion Augmented Pilot-Ship Interface System, it uses nanomachines to create the connections necessary for the implants, and an improved training regimen as well as greater capability to interface multiple pilots with one ship.
It is hoped this new technology, now available for all future production Torrin ships, will reduce the time needed to produce APSIS pilots and make the implants more accessible for customers.

| Rays of filtered light flicker against the hardened chitin of the Sprye's slender face piece as the great wheel of petals spins into slow motion, flecks of cellulose dust and pollen whisking in the breeze making a stream of magestic motes dancing away into the aether throughout the chamber. Warm orange bled through the wax panes, projecting the Avasar's mighty shadow upon the queen, who despite being dwarfed held confident poise - a formal nod of the head as the flower's imposing eye opened.
| Among all autonomous species, the Spri were the most loyal and integrated - a hand given to every operation, and a sword pledged against every threat, services rendered that cost blood but nonetheless are not looked upon with regret. The governing head of the Spri autnomomy has come now to inform the Chrysanthemum of the intention to open the Market to the rest of the galaxy, an action which undoubtedly she believes will not be looked upon with approval from her superior. The Boundary of Sovereignty has for most of its existence refused to participate strongly in the galactic system of official exchange, seeking absolute self sufficiency. The exceptions being the Metal imports from the Grand Republic of Saharia and the Luriav Triumvirate, which have created an enormous stockpile of various kinds of metals.
| Since the acquisition of refined metals, the Chrysanthemum's kin have been attempting to make wide scale use of it within the Avasar ecosystem: Ship building, infrastructure, logistics. To little achievement, it seems the adoption of metals as a viable wide scale resource are more difficult than first expected, and the galaxy is now shifting in very important ways - if the boundary itself cannot yet make industrial use of these precious resources then they will have to compromise. The system must open.

| The avasar's weighty gaze rests upon the Queen, the white of it gleams incorporeally in the dim grace of the flower's crown, awaiting patiently for prompt as spores and leaflets spin to the warm chamber floors amidst the humid breeze.
| The Queen lightly chatters, "Grand flower of the relay." - she dignantly announces, giving a soft and well rehearsed bow as she continues. "The scars of Carnix rend us still, that our posted warriors - the most gifted of my children were felled in such number. Our defeats were numerous before Cordycep's intervention, and still after did we suffer great losses in the recapture of our sacred circle: Zolspriv."
| The flower's shape slinks back lazily, the hazy light of the sun lets through highlighting the blotchy colours on its face, fluttering details of its lined petulam rings. A light shiver and a snarl, "Loyal Pollinator, the Spri have a place in this universe. Chrysanthemum considers your children our own in kind, they who spill your blood spills ours. Carnix's place was decided at his turn."
| "We will not forget the Sacrifices the Progenitor made to propel my kind to the stars, and keep the light burning. And that is why i am here."
| Sevix raises a common staff above her antennae, an armed claw clutching it with severe strength - snapping it into two pieces and a small handfull of chipped pieces. "Our weapons." she remarks, "Our dominion has outgrown our tools, and we have no means of substituting them ourselves."
| Top heavy petals heavily curve groundward as the Avasar's crown approaches: a focused eye studying the queen with patient scan movements, it nods almost with a pleased form, its soothing voices once more oozing forth as it gives its words. "A learned Ruler, Loyalty to the Ambitions of their own kin. The disc is abundant and we are left with much to learn."
| The proud Spri chatters to herself in whispers, contemplating the thinking behind the flower's words. She reaches an arm out, chitin plates pleasantly jingling as internal tendons extend. "Floral One?" she beckens with some concern.
| "Chrysanthemum has no disapproval of your intentions, the Resources of the Spires are yours to barter with."
| Behind the Royal helm her mandibles twitched, confused that her motion was granted with such ease. The compact eyes fixed atop her hollow skull buzz with a slight excitement, contained mostly by a strong sense of formal poise. "We have studied from your gatherings, among a hive of partners we have landed on a reputable few."
| The flower gives a calm nod, retreating to coil back into rest as it echoes out its last words to the Queen. "Conquer the stars loyal one."

| There are a number of arms producers in the galaxy, all competing against eachother in the crucible of professional industry and applied tactical systems - each fabricating their own styles and niches into the Galactic Disc's overall market and demand.
| The Vixxen Conglomerate, a titan of production - considered briefly before a major market event carved through a portion of their shares. They will be kept in mind for the future but for now are excluded from consideration.
| A new upstart, breaking the market with its entry and the innovative production methods they brought into the fold. Torrin Industrials, now competing comfortably with the best of the Galaxy's manufacturers even with their short time of establishment. Even now they proffit richly from the Melting pot of the Core, where conflict has become as common as Dandelions in the Gardenspire - Their technologies are well tested and rigorously improved upon. Chrysanthemum has issued First contact to be made with them accompanied by Sprye Arms specialists, in a mission to establish trade of advanced armaments for the Autonomous states - constructed in accordance to specialized specifications and using metals from the Avasar Stockpile. Negotiations can begin after founding relations.
| Chrysanthemum has been hesitant to begin negotiations for imports from the Aurelian Empire given the unfolding situation in the Mutual research zone, however their reputation procedes them far too strongly to ignore. Sevix has intensely studied from the evidences of Aurelian technologies and sees great potential in their fielding, but agrees that such efforts are far in the future if at all possible - and that ties with the Grand sphere must start with the small. Where Torrin will be offered Small arms contracts, Aurelia Proper will be offered contracts on the beginning of a new generation of ships - hybridized with Metal components - to compliment the indigenous Royal Hive fleet. First contact with the Empire has yet to be established, a small barrier easily overcome when the time is right.

|Torrin Industries - An offer to purchase the services needed to produce weapons within the Torrin Industrial complexes is being offered. Negotiations and First Contact can begin at your mark.
|The Aurelian Empire - An offer to purchase temporary industrial capacity for shipbuilding is being made. Negotiations and first Contact are ready to begin at your mark.
| Preferably not at the same time.

The Twelfth Sphere of Expansion

The Ashkatan League once again begins expanding into the Galactic Mid-Rim while ignoring the still ongoing and somehow worsening travesty in the Core, content with their decision to avoid being tied into the war.

Anarchist Prepych wrote:The beast grabbed the bottle, flicking the cap off and sniffing at it, its tan and desert brown furred face scrunching at it smelled it only to grin, a few upper teeth evidently gleaming steel as it took a shot of it. Slurping down a gulp only for its entire body to shake. A massive grin being shown as it recapped it. Tucking the bottle into the armored exoskeleton, one of its many ad-hoc pockets. "Camaradas." They said. A grin on their face as this plucky little human handed them a bottle of alcohol... The good stuff, too.

Without another thought they put their weapon down. Instead, gesturing with their head to follow them. The possum figuring that anyone who'd be willing to follow smuggling routes, and hand a breedperson a bottle, while facing them down with a pistol was probably either a pirate, or would make good friends with a pirate. Besides that they also looked at them, staring them down as they calmly asked. "Ah... No... No other... No other crew? Ce?"

Wilhelm thought for a moment. It may not be wise to let this being know he was all alone on this ship. After all, knowing they would only have to deal with a single person makes many people far more willing to just deal with said single person and take their cargo. Still, not like he could get away with the lie; there was only one bed and it would be clear the ship was way too small to have more than just him.
"no crew. it's just me"
Seeing that there were other aliens there too, he reached into the box, which was full of said alcohol bottles, and pulled out more, to give to the others as well. He might as well make a good first impression since that greatly increased his chances of not being shot and thrown out an airlock later.

| While Apprehensive ideas have curtailed the expansion of diplomatic ties throughout the galaxy, with the Boundary of sovereignty still undergoing its metamorphosis to integrating its galactic claims into the larger ecosystem. There have been valid points from within the nation's autonomous states, who with great interest have observed the Galaxy's evolution and its subtle ripples which foretell of tremendous acts which further lie ahead of the timely horrizon - something is slowly gathering pace and there must be ample preparation to meet it.
| Sevix and her colleagues in the other systems have served their arguments to the Chrysanthemum, and have won - the Autonomous systems and their needs are extended beyond the Boundary and with them the Avasars follow defacto. Where then is it more fitting to start than with the Pelion Circle, with whom we have already had important dealings with - from the isolated trio of mages in the Zolsrpiv to the Guild's pact in the mutal reserch zone. Yet despite such clean cooperation and understanding, representatives of the Chrysanthemum itself and the Emperor have never met face to face.

| A tear torsions itself across a point of space, visages of distant stars whirring outward before a sudden collapse back inward blinded by a brief pool of light which fades in a matter of seconds. A large Avasar ship appears before the further horizon, listlessly floating amidst the stellar tides as it peers across the lengthy sea of space - studying a collection of structures stationed almost still in the outer edge of what is reported from many independent sources to be the Aurelian Empire - or what is considered to be the outer frontier of the Western sea.
| A royalist spri lazily rested upon a branch of ferns begins to study from a screen, a collection of images and real time visual details picked up from nodes of light sensitive cells placed across the entirety of the ship's hull. He turns to a superior and gestures toward the surveiling tendon, "They are at ease."
| A whiring buzz faintly cuts across its auditories as the commanding officer nods, a hexagonal halo dipping alongside the antennae of his plain face. "Begin the approach with due caution." it blips pensively, a combinant arm waving across the royalist drones in the chamber - "They are stationed with many exhange positions... we should be safe."
| The officer's bulbous eyes rest upon the centering feature of the chamber, he gives a polite kneel and narrows his wings: a ceremonial act of respect given to all commanding Avasars, not for sake of mandate but tradition - passed down by the Queen and her ancestors in Othos. Songroot, spawn of Hollyhock - Chrysanthemum's favored diplomatic Magnoliant.

| The ship, a common cargo equivalent - known in the Boundary as a Scarlet Runner, begins approaching the border with steady speed - and intentional forward angle toward what would seem from the distance to be a border facilitate or maybe trade station.

The megaton detonations rocked the Breen ships like an earthquake washing over them like a tidal force. The ensuing EMP from the nuclear weapons also affected the computer systems on board, but Breen technology was not as vulnerable to electromagnetic phenomena as others. The biomechanical nature of the Breen computers allowed the defensive systems in the fleet to re-boot and repair rapidly. The Refraction Matrix shielding took care of the rest, letting the radiation pass over the crafts in a brilliant display of trailing blue streams of ionized particles. Many of the Breen ships managed to engage their PDCs in time to neutralize the incoming missiles and munitions, but some still make it through, poking holes in the already busy shield matrix, impacting on the hull of several ships and cutting nasty gashes and holes into their armor.

Back at the Shambhalahn lines, the Breen fighters soon engaged the SOTAHSEL and Malaya SB Vipers, using their high manoeuvrability to their advantage. The Breen craft quickly realized that what the Malaya and SOTAHSEL fighters seemed to sacrifice fire-power for armor and speed, a smart choice when it came to space combat. But the Breen fighters possessed point defense turrets that allowed them to disable may of the missiles aimed at them. That was not to say some of the Breen ships did not fall to the laser fire and missiles, many did, but just as many missiles were being turned to ash before their even found their mark. Many of the fighters who were not already engaged broke from the main fight and began to fire their own retaliation at the enemy fleet, their fire focused on the Furious Dragon Missile Ships accompanying the fleet, intent on taking them out of the fight.

The arrival of the rest of the armada in the adjacent territories was what signaled the official begin of a larger war. Immediately communiques were sent back to Planet Breen, the capital world, that a larger war was underway. But even then, the 9th War-Fleet and elements of the system defense forces were already responding. Planetary defenses and star stations lended their guns to the fight, many launching photonic missiles salvos and photonic cannon blasts towards the interlopers, keeping them bottled up at the edge of the respective systems while defensive fleets and elements of the 9th moved in to surround the Jade Armada's now divided forces across the south. Combined with the 9th and the system defense forces, roughly 90,000 ships were engaging the enemy across the various southern systems.

Back with Myrte's fleet, the arrival of the ISN Hoyau spooked many of the Breen commanders as the massive vessel tore through the fabric of real-space with a crackle of energies. It was a behemoth, but the Breen had giants of their own. The Zirthan, the Hand of Breen Dreadnaught which had accompanied the initial Breen counter-attack, turned its attention away from the battle, and towards the arrival of this new threat. It charged its cannons and blasters. Suddenly, across its 13-kilometer berth, a dozen photonic and polaron cannons and hundreds of missiles spilled forth in a spray of green light.

Titans clashed . . .

The Captain, startled, whipped around to the pillar.

"Who are we?"

He considered the question momentarily before deciding it would be best to tell the truth, and spoke once more.

"We are officers from the Improper Classifications Spacefleet. Improper Classifications is the state surrounding this area, in case you were not aware. We have existed as a sovereign state for centuries, but have only now found outside contact."

He paused, then continued. "The question is, who are you? We've never encountered a life like..." -he gestures at the pillar- "...you."
