Hi! My name is Bernard, I'm a Dutch person from Luxembourg (EU) with a long career as a geofictionist (creator of fictional countries and everything that comes with it). Other projects in which I am currently participating are the OpenGeofictionForum, Vexillium, and the two small partially overlapping projects AGL and FICT. Other hobbies of mine are (modern) classical music (collecting+writing), languages, and travelling (preferably by train).

I discovered NationStates in December 2018 and created Nhoor. First I moved from the East Pacific (I think) to the Arcadius Federation, but I decided I needed something else so I started browsing and finally ended up here today. (I was actually looking for a smaller region (20-50 nations), but after reading in WI Welcome Dispatch that the NS stats are largely ignored here and after discovering that WI have a completely fictional map instead of just earth repartitioned or no map at all, WI sounded like what I was looking for.)

Nhoor is a country in which there is a very strict separation of the three powers (legislative, executive, and judiciary), which means that the people are only involved in electing the legislative power, whereas the other two powers decide on their own evolvement. Apart from this, there is a King. Or rather there was, as the last King Armhad V went insane and was confined to a mental institution in 1978, where he died in 2017 without issue. The throne has been vacant since that moment, and although there is a republican movement that thinks that the monarchy should be abolished altogether, a majority prefers to keep looking for a new monarch - but the fact that no suitable successor has been found after 40 years makes one wonder if they really are that keen on finding one. The Chairman of Parliament has been acting head of state since 2017, but the political resides with the executive in the form of the Council of Ministers, headed by the First Minister.

Regarding role-playing: I don't have a lot of experience with in-character RP. In the other projects in which I participate, the 'role-playing' is mostly done via newspapers or messages/communiqués, so the main characters of the nations are seen from a larger distance, although ministers and other people can be quoted or interviewed etc. by the website. I'm curious to discover how RP works here (I read a few things about it in the welcome dispatch already)

Would you mind if I made a proposal to increase peacekeepers at the League camp that was recently attacked by supplying Brulafi forces to the peacekeeping force?

That whole announcement was that League forces wouldn't be needed soon. I've basically been so busy recently I haven't been able to really follow through on some of my stories, so I'm setting up a clean slate for some stuff in February.

As soon as I’m done cooking dinner I’ll start the Second Battle of Rippen

Hello All.
Thanks for the accepting our embassy request.
,
So how's it goin'?

Post self-deleted by Eurania.

Enchanta, the discussion in the League is regarding several key things: about 6 weeks ago, a terrorist organization in MS called Nâtkut Sumi (or "Blue Yesterday" in a literal English translation) detonated bombs in the Kunêshêktêmilu Hydroelectric Facility, the largest dam in the country. The resulting damage caused huge floods downriver of the dam, damaging city infrastructure in Kunêshêktêmilu, wiping smaller villages off the map and killing/displacing thousands. The League has been aiding MS by providing relief forces and military personnel to help with recovery efforts. A central camp was set up to aid the thousands of displaced individuals who had nowhere else to go. Various criminal groups run by warlords in the wilds of MS have raided supply convoys, as well as making several unsuccessful stabs at the camp itself. They do this mostly to try and steal supplies to either support themselves or for resale through their connections in the cities (drugs being big on that front), but also because MS has some strong isolationist threads, and a bunch of angry, basically homeless, warrior caste thugs will take out their aggression and xenophobia on just about any indication of "Western imperialist occupation", which is exactly how the camp was viewed. Enough time has passed that the majority of initial relief efforts have been completed and floodwaters have gone down, meaning people can, for the most part, return to their homes if their homes are still standing. Ambassador Mipax was just letting the League know.

Of course, the black markets (read as: sizable portions of the Mennan economy) are now flooded with League-branded opioids, like morphine and fentanyl. So that's a thing.

whats this drama i see goin on in the WA?

Is this just between you and Dormill and Stiura?

Wellsia wrote:Is this just between you and Dormill and Stiura?

It's open to others, it's just that others haven't been posting recently.

Wellsia wrote:Is this just between you and Dormill and Stiura?

If you mean the RP then no, it's open to people who want to join!

Here is the OOC thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=448406

This specific scene, however, is between the two of us as we planned for a confrontation to occur between the two forces as Dormill and Stiura advances through Arván.

I honestly feel like my posts are getting both shorter and are less in quality than before. I might need to take a bit of a break once I'm wrapped up with Noro's RP.

That's what I felt like during Charbagnia, and I became way too anxious over what I was producing, (that's partly why I dropped in activity on that thread). As the OP of the thread you are posting in, please do not feel in anyway as if your posts are underwhelming.

To be honest, what else could you write in that post? It set the tone of fast-paced action rather well, and if you had tried to write more and more, it would have taken away from the pacing.

I'm a hypocrite here, as I find I am often trying to over-design the setting before getting into the meat of the post before actually writing anything.

Aye. I hope you don't mind me using the Jaorfalkehn, their low cost and relative age both made sense for D&S to use in their partnership with HDS.

It's quite ironic and I can already hear the words I am going to use for my characters witnessing what exactly is attacking them.

Alteran republics - The Jaorfalkehn is getting some use in the RP!

Erusea ftw.
Speaking of Erusea. My ace combat lust has been satisfied, this is literally one of the greatest sequels and comebacks ever. Almost as good as the Hitman comeback. Ace combat assault horizon was eh, only good aspect was the soundtrack. Ace Combat infinity had a lot of potential but it was ruined by the pay2win bs. I am so satisfied and content with this. I haven't had a bigger smile on my face while playing a game ever since Dark Souls 3. Not to mention that the game came with a free version of ace combat 5. I love you Project Aces.

Your nations seem pretty similar in terms of culture compared to mine. How should my history interact with yours, as I don't really have an idea as to where to start for it. I've already sent in my map application btw.

Neat.

You also happen to be on the spot where our former RPer friend Bhumidol, a Non-Resident Indian, was.

I like to think of you as his spiritual successor or reincarnation (just kidding :P)

I already see quite a lot of details in just one paragraph (you have clearly mentioned how ancient Vedic religion is on your nation). A three-tiered caste system that is unique and sounds meritocratic (though you will have to broaden that cause there's a few other nations like Menna Shuli with their own versions of caste systems as well). If I am not wrong, that last picture is of Indian Gorkhas. You have got mountains, religions (finally, another nation with a Buddhist minority apart from Townside, Samudera and New Totzka), education and a nation with the word "friend" in it (all plus points for me).

You could be the reason why I have Sanskrit-derived names despite having no connection to outside world.

I am also an NRI... damn.
I am originally from the Garhwal region myself, and Google images say that those soldiers are Garhwal Rifles soldiers, I think they and Kumaon Regiment get mistaken for Gorkhas because of very similar uniform and sometimes the people themselves look very similar, as many in Nepal and Uttarakhand belong to same Khas group. The caste system in our nation is based off the Varnashramdharm system detailed in the Bhagavad-Gita by Krishna, I will put more details about it in soon. Are you the only other Sanskritised nation, or do Samudera and Suvurnia have the same influence?

Ah so! The Garwhal Rifles.

Garwhalis and Kumaonis are basically the cousins of the Khas (Indo-Iranian) people of Nepal. I dunno but here in Nepal, it is told that Garwhalis and Kumaonis are basically Western branch and Nepali Khas ethnicities like Bahun, Chhetri, Thakuri, Bishwokarma, etc the Eastern branch of the Khasas mentioned in Mahabharata. They even have so many similar names and surnames :P

I wouldn't call myself a Sanskritised nation aside from the names and a Buddhist minority. Samudera and Suvurnia is the same deal. Just plenty of Sanskritised names.

(BTW, you aren't Tanjore, are you...)
