Message from the Office of Role-Play
.

Good day, TWI!

"I hope everyone is doing okay during these times. I'm assuming that most countries are recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, though it has been hard for all of us and would continue to be hard even as the pandemic eventually comes to a close. This monthly report has been two months late and, truthfully, it has been my own fault. I have been mostly busy with uni work and the continued mishandling of the COVID pandemic has caused unnecessary stress, thus, I haven't been able to keep up with the region's activities. The recent slump in activity in the Western Isles was expected, although, I do think that we can do better and as SoRP, I should do better. As we approach April and May, hopefully we can start more activity that could catch the interest of everyone, from the League to more individual RPs that could restart TWI once more."

NEWS

The month of February started with a News post from Westmoor Isles' as the prime minster chooses their cabinet and, a few days later, an oil spill at the coast of Graig, which the Westmoorish government has assured that it won't be as bad. In Gael, continued military drills in the Faronna Islands by the Federation of Balnik has caught the eye of Dormill and Stiura and has raised tensions between the two countries, as it has widely upon the continent of Gael. Meanwhile, Biaten has sought membership in the G4. In Martenyija, former Vice President Gabriel Dindi passed away who resigned a week earlier following concerns over his health. In New Jacobland, the Palo Insurgency escalates and threatens a full-blown civil war in the country, especially after the Keverai Square Attack that left 15 people dead. In the Southern Sea, Wachovia, through its Ministry of Defense, has announced its deployment of warships in the area to guard trade routes.

Justice Ander Kentarre, meanwhile, has been elevated to the role of Judicial-General in Ainslie, alongside the news of 160 dogs rescued from an illegal puppy farm, which might be the best news for February. In other news, Hyukai still seeks answers for the crash of Lacoa Flight 417 as new evidence has been acquired. In Dormill and Stiura, Cedar Dyson, along with the Ministry of Transportation, has revealed a plan to connect the country's urban areas through a high-speed rail network, with future plans that it would eventually connect into a wider Gael rail network, and is seen to create economic activity throughout the country. In the nation of Nhoor, the parliament, also called as the Conast, inofficially dismissed the Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Security due to "weakness and misconduct" due to mistakes and lapses in the government. The last known Female Highlands Wildcat has died in captivity in the Westmoor Isles, ending the last hope for salvation for their species. From Ainslie, an edition of Querren highlights spotlight Ahsnlen attitudes regarding certain events and issues the country currently faces. As February comes to a close, Corindia wins the Isles Cup over a 2-0 victory against Athara Magarat.

The month of March kicks off in Biaten as their campaign season officially starts, with national polls showing a clear lead by Biaten's Social Democratic Party and the Communist Party. Protests against Green Development would start in Domanania, where the regional government of Tawunt gave out eviction notices to around 5 and a half thousand people for the construction of a wind farm. The country would also see its deadliest winter storm in over a decade, with 250 people dying of extreme temperatures. New CMT trains was introduced in Belantica as part of their overhaul of the train control system. In Ioudaia, Marentyikan pilots completes their Gryphes Conversion training in the country. In Ainslie, the Judicial Council starts the investigation of the Independent Nationalists Party due to their alleged connections with doomsday cults. The nation of Havalland opens its Royal Military Museum. In New Jacobland, the country passes the controversial 'Civil Defense Act' that extends government powers in the event of civil disobedience or rioting. A few days later, the president would be taken to the Supreme Court. Multiple developments in Lesva throughout the month of March started with the presidential election that saw President Puicu Gevin being re-elected amidst disputed election fraud allegations. Lesvans have marched through the streets in opposition of the results. The Supreme Court eventually annuls the election's results and the military declares the creation of the Authority for Democratic Preservation to serve as a provisional government. After days, President Puicu Gevin disappears, confirmed to be abroad, and General Pava Sari declares Martial Law. It has been called the Saela Spring.

TWItter

TWItter Thread for the months of February and March starts with tweets from the Westmoor Isles as police raided the headquarters of Vox Populeaks. Continued, Vox Populeaks would eventually be suspended on TWItter. Reathwood comments on the International Gala, calling it a triumph and hopes that the sense of community be reflected in world affairs more often. In Dormill and Stiura, Governor Isabelle Oliver proposed the United Gallic Trade Union Congress which aims to, quote, "unify and empower the many great trade and labour unions of Dormill with the backing of Dormill's government". President Dyson also condemns events in Lesva. From the Isles Freedom Network, it is revealed that Balniki forces Faronna exercises despite international condemnation and controversy. Tweets from New Jacobland and Corindia congratulates the latter for their win in the Isles Cup. Solaryia announces that it has joined the Raedlon Organization of States. Finally, in Altera, a spokesperson from the Curia issues a statement on Resolution No. 22, calling it vague and haphazardly written.

The League

In the League, Resolution No. 22 was proposed by Reathwood as a resolution to combat indentured servitude. It has been met with mixed responses from delegates, with concerns raised on the definition of indentured servitude. In response, the Ahnslen delegate proposed a set of definitions for indentured servitude, which would eventually be put into vote in the hope of adding assurance to the resolution itself.

Role-plays

For roleplays, the Western Isles Gala have officially been concluded during the month of March and have been a success. The Isles Cup was also launched and finished by Ainslie, with Corindia taking the trophy as 2021's Isles Cup Winner. For story-based RPs, Shadow Over Gael has been launched during the months of February-March. Agents from Balnik, Roendavar, and Dormill and Stiura have converged into Dociara, the city of Sin, each with their own interests that will eventually converge. An altercation between Balniki agents and Roendavarians occured at the Dociara Underground beneath the city's Oreis Ninth Club, an event that will eventually spark tensions between the countries and start an underground war that would threaten the balance of Gael.

Page 23k on the RMB? A milestone that we have been waiting for months and I'm glad that we finally achieved it. It was reminiscent of TWI's activity slowing down but I'm glad that we've managed to pick up over the past year, and it's been awesome. Fun to see that new members have also started to interact in the RMB and are not afraid to share their opinions, although, I suggest always keeping your cool and keep criticism in stride. Remember, this is a region and we are all committed to helping others and fostering creativity. This wouldn't be a region conducive to that if we resist criticisms and start arguments on the RMB. This goes for everyone.

The topic of Isle Balls have been brought up during the past months and I do highly encourage all nations to make them, especially a regional one considering we haven't had one of those for the past 2 years. This brings up the topic of more TWI art, though, one really can't expect too much considering the slump in activity, but it would be nice to see it in the future.

.
Plans
.

For the month of April, we will try to accomplish the following things:

  • Increase activity in the regional collaboration threads.

  • Increase activity in historical collaboration threads.

  • Begin working on the Advanced Dossier of the Western Isles.

  • Facilitate the Nation-building Prompts for this month.

  • Foster more creative role-plays.

  • Maintain activity in all current RPs.

That's all from me for now. See you all next month!

I'm not sure if I like the direction I'm going with Romsland at the moment.

I feel like the whole Dutch theme is a bit too generic... not really that fun.

I don't know, I'll think on it for a while.

Meta-question: I just created some order in my TG inbox, putting messages in themed subfolders, deleting conversations with dead people, etc.
Is there a way though to download all (relevant) messages to save them off-forum in case someone drops the internet and everything is lost?

Suns out guns out.

Busted out my microscope and spotted some stentor, diatoms, and testate amoebas.

Not sure, TGs are probably not in the data dumps which you could download.

Either way, the technical forum might be able to help you better than TWI.

Shidei found one of the neons dead today. No sign of any health issues previously so it's kind of sad for it to just happen so suddenly

I've seen much of the rest of the site. It is brutal and cruel and dark, TWI is the light.

At first sight you seem to be right Ioudaia. So far the suggestion has been to make screenshots of the Telegram messages, but then you need of course to name every single screenshot manually or you will never find back the information for which you are looking. Copy-pasting the texts into one single document somehow seems easier...

But I'll wait if someone else on the forum comes with another suggestion :)

Every so often, I want a tool to unload TGs "right". Semi-naively, I want a TG to email gateway, so I can send all of the ones I want to a special NS email address, and use existing email tools to sort/search/store them.

Where on the TWI map were you thinking of locating? Most of the map is available at pretty high resolution (1 pixel = 1 km) and people use that to make base maps for their country, adding cities and roads and such.

The borders are your call as taken from the main map (within reason)

I suggest just saving the image in the Map Factbook to your device and using the most relevant paint/editing app to draw in the border you want to send a request to Vancouvia.

Gday, TWI! Our new nationbuilding prompt for the month of April has been released. What are your nation's weaknesses?

Inspired by Dormill and Stiura. You're exempt from this you already paid your nation-building prompt tax. All other members of TWI must answer. Which, I guess, also includes me.

Same here. I thought the idea of making my own language was something I would never do but now I regret it since I do have one now

No worries! Prompts are just something to keep the region engaged and focused on one topic at a time. You can still do and share your language with us if you do complete it and we'll still read it. Though, next time, I might increase the amount of reminders and announcements that I'm going to make.
