Mexico was a poor crumbling nation in the 1900's. Corruption, crime rate, poverty all of it was high the nation's wanted to reclaim its past glory. its land near the USA especially Texas and California were very unstable with revolutionaries throughout. So to calm them and spark mass pride through the nation its leader wanted to get involved in a war.
