Origin:

For those trying to figure out what the heck I based this nation on, it is largely homebrew, but also based on a book series called 'The Domination' by SM Stirling. It is a sort of thought experiment on a nation that took every national concept of 'evil' that we hold today and just... ran with it.

In the books, there were two major super-nations: The Domination of the Draka, and the Alliance for Democracy. The two groups explored different technology trees in their efforts to subdue the other, biowarfare for the Domination (who had no lacking for human test subjects), and physics/computation for the Alliance. The Godulans represent a sort of fanfic nation presenting a third option. As they were not as populous as either of the other two, they focused on making up the shortfall with automation.

The Godulans (nation name taken from ANOTHER story I'd been writing) took bits and pieces from both of the other entities and combined it into a sort of gestalt/third-option, and were relentlessly driven to improve their capabilities in order to reliably challenge the other two groups. Even after they departed that world and went on their own, they continue to consider technological advancement a matter of survival. Even nations that have friendly relations with them are considered a possible threat to be surmounted at any cost.
