The Dezreik, The Dream

The people of The Dezreik were one of of the few in history to acknowledge that, at it's core and for all of it's intelligence, humanity is mostly stupid. When herd mentality strikes then governments crumble and people suffer. To try to avoid these issues they decided the best way to be governed was with a benevolent dictatorship - let one group take all the burden and if they don't cut it, feed them to the bears. Literally.

Sometimes taking a harder line than would be socially acceptable to most, ultimately the Dezreik embrace freedom of lifestyle for everyone. Aiming for a social utopia, but practically knowing that it's a long way from achieving it, they accept hard taxation with a smile and make the most of situations as they arise.

While spirituality is seen as a necessity for the mental welfare of the people, actual organised religion is frowned upon.

Enforced military service for all helps build a strong sense of nationality without the need for having to listen to zealous spiels from over opinionated idiots.

Economy tends to take a back seat to welfare, but so long as everyone is clothed, fed, educated and looked after (in sickness and old age should any Dezreikian reach it!) the people remain happy to pay their greatly elevated taxes.
