Opening Information

The Europe Cup of Hockey Tournament is a tournament in the region of Europe that takes place between several nations within Europe. This year's tournament is held in Nørdbjorn,

St Scarlett, in Polaris Arena. Teams enter the tournament via application by the date stated in the title. If teams enter late, they are relegated to Division II ECH play and will receive their own tournament. The Division I Tournament begins Thursday January 23rd, and the Division II Tournament begins when the six team limit has not been reached. The teams that finish 11th and 12th in the Division I Tournament will play each other in a three game series and the loser will be relegated to Division II for the next tournament. That said, the team that finishes first in the Division II Tournament will be promoted to Division I for the next tournament in the place of the relegated Division I team. Division I will be made up of 12 teams, the Division II tournament will begin with six but can grow to eight, after that another division will be added. The maximum amount of Points a team can accrue in one tournament is 10.

The tournament is constructed in two pools, determining tournament play. The two pools (designated as GROUPS), will consist of even numbers of teams, and each team will play every other team in the group ONCE before proceeding to tournament play. Tournament play will consists of at LEAST two rounds, with the losers of the semifinal games playing each other in a bronze medal game taking place before the gold medal game. The Division II teams will play a 5-Game Series to determine the winner of each group. The winners of each group play each other in a 3-Game Series, the winner is brought up to Division I in exchange for a Division I team being relegated to Division I.
