THE UNITED ASCENDANCY 2.0 – RP GUIDE

THE UNITED ASCENDANCY 2.0 – RP GUIDE

The new RP introduces several new mechanics, mostly tied with the use of the new bot, developed exclusively for the server by Nordlandenn. This document gives you an overview of everything you need to know!

How do I join the RP?

The new RP introduces a province system, where every nation begins with a set population and 5 provinces. As such, when joining the RP, you need to:

    1. Provide the name of your nation.

    2. Decide where on the map your nation should be.

    3. Provide the name of the capital city of your nation.

    4. Provide 5 names of provinces within your region.

    Optionally you can also decide your religion, culture, and other starting city names.

What are the new mechanics?

The mechanics focus on two key parts of Medieval roleplay. The growth, and the warfare of players and NPCs.

Growth of Nations - Demographics

The growth of nations is ensured through the system of provinces. Each nation is given 5 provinces to manage, with the possibility to gain more through conquest, either from free territories around them or from rival nations. For each province, a nation must possess 2000 soldiers, and must keep 200 soldiers there to keep order (refer to chapter on warfare for more detail). Each province has a biome associated with it, which either boosts or nerfs its population growth, as listed below.

    I. Polar
    Growth: -95%

    II. Tundra / Taiga
    Growth: -50%

    III. Continental
    Growth: +10%

    IV. Marine
    Grwoth: +20%

    V. Subtropical
    Growth: +10%

    VI. Tropical
    Growth: +20%

    VII. Rain Forest
    Growth: -15%

    VIII. Steppe / Savanna
    Growth: -10%

    IX. Desert
    Growth: -65%

    X. Mountain / Inaccessible
    Growth: -80%

Furthermore, players will be able to construct "projects" in each province that boost its stats. These will be made available at a later point in the RP (in two or three weeks after the RP starts). Until then, it is most beneficial to chose provinces in suitable biomes, since population does and will play an important role!

Warfare

Warfare divides into two main segments. Direct warfare and sieges.
Siege warfare is treated separately as it was a crucial part of medieval times with its own specific dynamics. While direct warfare is quick and can result in significant losses, siege warfare incurs fewer losses but takes a significant amount of time.

In both direct and siege warfare, armies are involved. These are comprised of soldiers of undefined type (that is up to the player and has no effect on the combat stats), but precisely defined veterancy level. Each veterancy level has a certain power modifier associated with it. The total army power is the sum of these numbers and modifiers.

    Militia = 1.0

    Recruit = 1.2

    Regular = 1.6

    Experienced Soldier = 2.2

    Elite Soldier = 3.0

e.g.: 100 militia men have power 100*1.0 = 100, 100 experienced soldiers = 100*2.2 = 220. For an army composed of 14,000 militia, 8,500 recruits, 6,570 regulars, 2,140 experienced soldiers, 150 elites:

total power = 14,000*1.0 + 8,500*1.2 + 6,570*1.6 + 2,140*2.2 + 150 * 3.0 = 39,870

Direct Warfare

When two armies meet in combat, players simply select which soldiers of their army they want to dedicate to the battle, and the result is computed by the mod, which provides the numbers of losses for each player.

Sieges

During sieges, an army will set up camp around the capital of a province and will wait a specified number of turns. If these turns pass by without the siege being interrupted successfully (attacking army being defeated in battle, or other reasons), the province will fall to the attacker.

Useful Commands

+help- returns the functions available to you and explanations of what they are.
+nstats <insert_nation> – returns the stats of a nation.
+rptime– returns the current rp time (year and date).
+pstats <insert_province> - returns the stats of a province.

+nstats_province <insert_nation>- returns detailed stats of a nation.

Note that these can only be used when NordBot is online!
