Upon the branch the golden peach does gleam,

Like sparkling gem of price beyond compare,

Twixt earth and heaven it doth wondrous seem;

Oh noble fruit, your praise we do declare!

Soft and tender, thine velvet flesh enthrall

Inviting fragrance draws all lovers near:

For but a moment hand before does stall

'Til plucked and brought, sweet nectar from this sphere;

Yet fleeting is the season of the peach,

With time remaining treasure all it gives:

Before, at last, with winter's icy reach

Fruit and tree shall sleep, just as all that lives;

Patiently wait, until when spring arrives,

Our passion for the golden peach revives.
