Roleplay [CK]
Conch Kingdom Roleplay, (from now on shortened to CKRP), is the official regional roleplay of Conch Kingdom. Like most regional RPs, it is a national RP, with each player controlling a country within the world of the RP. In CKRP, this world is called Telrova; a planet approximately twice the size of the earth, with thirteen continents and two moons. CKRP is considered a modern-tech RP, meaning that technology (and, often, society) has evolved in a similar manner, and to a similar extent, to the real world, even if the in-RP date is a few years ahead of the real one.
The first step to joining CKRP is claiming a place on the map! Only nations that are on the map, or are scheduled to be put on the map by the Cartographer, are allowed to participate in roleplay. The map allows you to find your nation's neighbours, timezone, approximate climate, and more. To join the map, send a map claim to the cartographer by following the instructions listed in the map dispatch. After this, you can begin worldbuilding your nation's government, geography, culture, foreign relations etc, which are under your full control as long as they fall within the guidelines of the RP rules. These are listed further down the dispatch.
You may also want to write a iiwiki article on your
Nation; a guide on how to do this can be seen here! Iiwiki is a Nationstates-focused wiki software used to make Wikipedia-style articles about your nation. It may appear daunting at first, but is actually quite easy to use. If you have any questions, ask a Roleplay Secretary.
CKRP is usually played on one of two platforms; the Augustin Alliance Discord server and the Conch Kingdom Roleplay region.
By far the most RP happens on the Augustin Alliance Discord server's Conch Kingdom section, a link to which can be found on the main region page. Most active participants in CKRP roleplay almost exclusively there. Five channels are reserved to CKRP:
#ic_macro hosts longer-form roleplay posts, usually describing wider events in the third person. This includes a wide variety of types of post, such as Worldbuilding-focused historical overviews, political events, or military actions.
#ic_micro primarily hosts interpersonal roleplay where individual posts may be only a few lines in length, such as meetings between characters from different nations.
#ic_newsfeed hosts posts made in an in-character news format, such as a news article or description of a televised news broadcast in your nation.
#ooc_chatter hosts all out-of character posts related to CK - that is, discussions about the RP between players. A thread in the channel hosts the CKRP Citizens' Assembly, in which players can suggest new features and rule changes to the Roleplay Secretaries.
#iiwiki hosts discussion of Conch Kingdom-related articles on the Nationstates wiki site iiwiki.
Nations without access to Discord should roleplay in Conch Kingdom's dedicated roleplay region, simply called Conch Kingdom RP. This is far less active than Discord, and does not categorise posts. RP in the roleplay region takes place on the regional message board. Nations resident in Conch Kingdom have permission to post on the regional message board due to an embassy between the regions.
It is Suggested that you use one of the following formats for CKRP posts:
Discord**Name of Post**
*In-character date of Post*
Post
Roleplay region
Name of Post
In-character date of Post
Post
Review your posts before posting them; this helps prevent errors.
Post in-character (IC) only in in-character channels, and out-of-character (OOC) only in out-of-character channels.
No God Modding (making your nation unrealistically 'overpowered' or untouchable; see
this list for more information) or Metagaming (using out-of-character information that your nation would not know in-character). CKRP is supposed to be collaborative - it is not a competition. No Power Playing (controlling another nation or it's characters) without specific consent.
You must not initiate an RP with another nation without their consent. All parties must agree to changes to things which will directly affect or involve them.
Your Nation's technology level must be Modern, Fair and Reasonable. If you are at all unsure about this, please discuss your technology with the Roleplay Secretaries.
Modern - is the technology feasible to implement on your desired scale today? A technology does not necessarily have to be currently in operation, but it does have to be demonstrated to be currently possible, whether by the existence of working prototypes or other proofs.
Fair - does your nation's technology level conflict with any other developments or established worldbuilding in CKRP? This is the least common problem with technology, but it is sometimes applicable.
Reasonable - is it reasonable that your nation would develop or possess its current technology? For example, a particularly poor or war-torn country is unlikely to be able to develop the most advanced or expensive current technology without outside help or special circumstances.
Nations must act in a realistic manner. As in the real world, they do not have to act rationally, but there has to be at least a basic reason for why a sudden action is taken. For example, it is unrealistic for a nation to collect and burn its entire cash reserves without reason.
All wars involving two or more players must receive permission from a Roleplay Secretary in order to proceed, in order to check that it is realistic and reasonable. This will usually involve giving the Roleplay Secretary a rough summary of the participants of the war and its events.
Use of nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) must receive permission from a Roleplay Secretary. This usually involves a similar check as listed above.
CKRP is moderated by Roleplay Secretaries under the management of their supervisor, the Minister of Domestic Affairs.
Roleplay Secretaries may enforce, interpret and change Roleplay rules.
Roleplay Secretaries may temporarily suspend or ban any player from participation in CKRP on the grounds of rules violations.
Arguing with roleplay moderators about ruling or enforcement may result in a suspension or ban.
Questions of geography, climate, physical jurisdiction/ownership, and what may or may not be permitted in oceans and unowned territories fall under the jurisdiction of the Cartographer.
As decribed in the RP rules, any piece of technology that is suspected to be beyond what is pre-existing in real life must be submitted to a Roleplay Secretary for approval before use.
As described in the RP rules, war roleplays must be discussed with a Roleplay Secretary to ensure a high quality of roleplay is maintained.
Secretaries of Roleplay
The Secretaries of Roleplay (commonly, but misleadingly, called 'RP Mods') are the junior ministers responsible for managing and monitoring roleplay in Conch Kingdom. They are appointed by the Minister of Domestic Affairs.

Another minister associated with roleplay is the Cartographer, responsible for managing world geography and the Conch Kingdom map. They are also appointed by the Minister of Domestic Affairs.
