I humbly think only I should be allowed on the map.

Wait, it's all Sessnia?

🌍🧑‍🚀🔫🧑‍🚀

Always has been.

Could you elaborate on that? I'm not familiar with forum RPGs

Our discord rp has been going strong for many years while being connected to NS. This isn't a matter of whether one is hurting the other, we are only trying to ensure it's fair for everyone and the rules make more sense.

Well, according to a popular debate, Tromso, Norway, is the best place to see the northern lights, but there are other places too.

Svalbard, Norway, Reykjavik, Iceland, Rovaniemi, Finland, and Shetland Islands, U.K are all also good places to go and see the Northern Lights.

huh, so we would be good for northern lights?
(we are an island next to Norway and own Shetlands and Faroe Islands)

I'm going to Tromso to see the northern lights later this year!

I got removed from the map because I slacked off on roleplay. Oh well. Anyways, I think only residents should be allowed. Otherwise what’s the point?

Residents of the region? We have a discord role that allows players to let their nation CTE and remain on the map, however we are discussing making it more accessible. Just as much as there are people who don't want to use discord, there are people who don't want to use NS.

Forum RPGs have, well, RP happening on the forum. Originally, at least. Sooner or later, someone comes up with a great idea to have a Discord server/Telegram group/… to chat OOC. Then, sooner or later, someone comes up with the idea to invite there people who are not players on forum by any stretch of term. if the idea is not resisted by admins, soon after that, the two become effectively disconnected, usually leading to the death of the forum as the more vulnerable part.

Sitting on two chairs is dangerous, see above. And there are also people who just want to click through issues, the ruling already doesn't accommodate everyone.

That’s not a discord role. That’s an official Charter-detailed role for the region

Why would you be in the DSA discord if you don’t have NationStates? That makes no sense to me.

People enjoy talking to people on discord and role-playing with each other. They don't like NS for various reasons but want to stick around in the community, so they stay in the server.

tomato potato

We have a forum, NS and discord. They've worked decently fine (obviously we're trying to figure out a way to better integrate the RMB) for again, many years. The server isn't anything new, we have several members who didn't even arrive from NS and we're still alive and well. Being debbie-downers and saying an aspect of the community is going to die because we allow multiple sites to communicate automatically doesn't work because the system has worked for many years.

I will comment on the early years, however.

In 2018, there was a lot of RMB activity from people who were on the discord server and there was even a decent amount of off-site forum activity. Back then there was also basically no discord RP as the only RP channel was an #events channel that was really only used by the MoRP to post updates to events like a hockey league or something, that Ministry too being seen as basically nothing but a stepping stone to get into other ministry positions. Eventually I became MoRP and changes up the RP scene and suddenly we got an RP community and more channels on the server to do RP.

Then we got April 2019's Cabinet Crisis that drove away a lot of the big name people and the culture shifted. To reiterate the point that usually gets brought up about this time, the people who left enjoyed NS, DSA gov, and the Discord server. Those who stayed cared less about the first two and more about the Discord server and it's functions and community. In addition to there being now more opportunities to RP on the server, people started consolidating more around the server and going onto the forum and RMB less. Years ago we had a full council where I was the only one who ever posted here on the RMB. Multiple attempts were made to encourage people to crosspost their RP over to the RMB but not many cared to do so with the convenience of Discord. I think I've even seen active opposition at one point to the RMB. Not just to NS, but to the RMB.

The forum is only ever used now for government elections and never RP (last posting was last summer and it was MoRP, which I barely count), and RMB RP has for a while now only ever been done now by those who don't have discord accounts with the rare few postings of RP from some discord members, only a trickle of what is on Discord. I'm glad to see an increasing amount of RP from those who are on the RMB, but I'm not going to act like RMB RP is anywhere near as big as it used to be as people have grown more insular around the Discord server

But the region isn't dead. Just because rp moved doesn't mean people don't talk here. It's just quicker and more convenient to talk on discord.

It’s more convenient for people who can actually get Discord. Personally, if the RMB ends up dying, I’ll be out of luck.

I don't think I should have to say it as this is a heavily queer region, but legalizing gay marriage shouldn't be an accident XD

I think the forum here is more appropriate

there will be ghosts in your living room

If I can maintain my NS account anyone can. It's not difficult.

Daily geography facts: Imagine this, you and a friend (or sibling) want to share a room, but some of their stuff is on your side so you have to change the "barrier". Well, Finland and Sweden have a funny story like this. Märket island is an island shared by Sweden and Finland. However, A Finnish Lighthouse was on the Swedish side, and many were upset about this. So, they changed up the borders so that each country gets their half, and the Finnish lighthouse is now on the Finnish side.

Also, What's the largest unclaimed territory in the world? Well, the most famous unclaimed territory is Bir Tawil, but it isn't the largest.

The largest unclaimed territory in the world is Marie Byrd Land, it is a part of Antarctica and is 1.6 million km (620k miles).

For comparison: Iran is 630k miles, Libya is 679.4K miles, and Mongolia is 603.9K miles.

What will the situation be like for those who are already on the map and maintain RP here?

Kixke wrote:What will the situation be like for those who are already on the map and maintain RP here?

It wouldn't change things here. The people who want to leave NS already don't use the RMB.
