Lagene's biggest import is probably metals like iron and copper. Lagene doesn't have very many places to mine for such things, and since they are so commonly used, lagene often imports them.

Probably same, any type of metal. Since we got two big Car companies, we need alot.

Osterreich-Deutschland, how did your nation form, exactly? Surely the Hohenzollerns and Habsburgs wouldn't have gotten along...

...right?

Osterreich-Deutschland wrote:Termendor whats ur flag represent?

A proud Russian culture and our right to wage war and dominate the world.

Synthetic oil.

Back in 2030 in my timeline, a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) discovered a way to formulate atomic material and transform it into virtually anything, though at the time this student had only tested it with crude oil. This student was payed approximately ten million Quincois Dollars to hand over the technology to the Quincois government. As a result of this transfer, Quincy has become one of the leading superpowers on the globe due to the ability to replicate virtually anything. Barrels of oil? Yep. Food? Yep. Water? Yep. Etc.

Oops... read that as export.

1. Fuel because everything
2. Mechanical Devices because Factories
3. Electronics because of IT Industry

Wait for 500 Million Population

When you found your nation, it starts out with 5 million people. For the first few days, your nation's population increases by one million per day: on day two you'll have 6 million, then 7, then 8, then 9, then 10. Eventually your population begins growing faster, as shown below:

Days 1-6: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (+1 mil per day)
Days 7-11: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 (+2 mil per day)
Days 12-15: 23, 26, 29, 32 (+3 mil per day)
Days 16-17: 36, 40 (+4 mil per day)
Days 18-19: 45, 50 (+5 mil per day)
Days 20-21: 56, 62 (+6 mil per day)

Your nation will have 62 million people on its twenty-first day of existence. After that, population growth is randomised, growing from five to seven million people per day. There is no way of changing your population or making it grow faster or slower; issue effects have no impact on population whatsoever. If you simply found your nation and never log into it again, it will cease to exist after four weeks; at this time it will have between 102 and 118 million people (average being 110, and most being within a few million of this). This nation had 112 million people when it was exactly four weeks old.

You can get the issue that allows you to name your capital city at 250 million people, which takes about two months. At 500 million you can choose a custom pretitle (so if you wanted to be "The Fairytastic Unicorn Kingdom of 60s Music", you could; there is no issue that allows this, just check your settings); this takes just over three months. At 750 million (4.5 months) you can get the issue that allows you to name your leader, and at 1 billion (just under six months) you can get the issue that allows you to name your national religion.

If your nation's population is greater than or equal to 1 billion, its name cannot be used by anyone else ever again, not even after your nation has ceased to exist. All you need to do to get your nation's name permanently reserved is use it for about five months; this will be enough to take it over the 1-billion mark before it ceases to exist.

By the end of your first year, your nation will have on average 2.132 billion people, making it one of the bigger nations in the world. Each year beyond that will add an average of 2.190 billion people; on average it takes four years and seven months to reach 10 billion people.

Your nation's population will not increase if it is inactive. If your nation ceases to exist with 385 million people, and you decide to restore it later, it will still have 385 million people, regardless of whether this is the next day, the next year, or ten years later. You will still have the same population, post count, and stats as you had before it ceased to exist. This is why you may occasionally see a nation from, say, 2005 with only seven billion people; it's been inactive most of the time since. Note that you cannot restore a nation that was deleted by a moderator or administrator for rule violations, and no amount of begging, pleading, or threatening will change this.

However, if you create a new nation with the same name as a previous nation, you will not inherit that nation's statistics or population; otherwise this nation would have started out with 260 million people. The owner of the original nation with that name cannot log in anymore as nations are identified by name only.

The nation with the highest population as of this writing is Kyupaa, which has nearly 45 billion people and has been continuously active since its founding in January 2003. (As an aside, when I joined NationStates in 2012 the largest nation had only 20 billion people; now my first nation would have a higher population than that.)

Updated 20190930 as challenge points are no longer restored when a nation is revived.

Updated 20221231 to reflect the increase in population needed for automatic name reservation.

Hi! do you want to become a beacon of democracy, prosperity, civil rights, liberty, and be a perfect paradise? Here is my guide, from probably the least trustworthy person to tell you!
By The Federal Republic of Western Balkania

This guide consists of 3 steps. Please don't skip over a step, and follow all 3. ALSO LOOK AT THE NOTES!!!!! THEYRE IMPORTANT!!!

Explanation of terms used on this guide:
After-text: The text you see after responding to an issue, which is shown in your activity.
Before-text: The text you see that are the descriptions of certain choices in an issue.
MWQ: The website used in this guide.
Upsides: The benefits of an issue choice. (increased economy, better healthcare, lower crime, etc)
Downsides: The negative effects of an issue choice. (worse economy, worse healthcare, higher crime, etc)

You may also need an education level higher than 5th grade in order to properly understand other terms used in this guide and to use your brain on issue choices.

Step 1, Authentication By Congress and Having An Advisor Cabinet: Enable confirmation before passing certain choices. You should do this to ensure you don't accidentally misclick on an issue choice you didn't want to pick. You should also enable "show more stats" to see the actual statistic that was affected by an issue choice.

Step 2, See Choices and Issue Results: Go to http://www.mwq.dds.nl/ns/results/ to see the possible results of an issue's choices. If the website shows something like "HTTP Response Error 403" or does not let you access the page, you can then emulate the website by going to https://www.browserling.com or any other website emulating tool. If it says not secure, press go anyway, or still emulate the website if you want to ensure you're safe. You can also try using a different device to show the website. You can now see the results of the choices of an issue!

Do not solely rely on this website for issue and choice information. It is almost always right, but sometimes shows a different amount of choices, or the wrong choices. Use common sense and read both the issue itself + it's choices and the information from MWQ to determine if MWQ is showing the right info on choices. It is usually very easy to see if MWQ is showing the correct issue choices or not by:

Comparing the after-text with the before-text of the choices, seeing how it could result in a cause-effect relationship. If you can, you probably have the correct choices. If you can't really see how it would result in a cause-effect relationship, it probably is not. Some after-texts are ridiculous compared to their before-texts, but are still a cause-effect relationship.

Comparing the results you would think you would get from this issue compared to the results you would actually get according to MWQ. (Example: Choice says it's from a libertarian who wants to increase civil rights, then MWQ says that this choice increases authoritarianism by up to 300 points.)

Comparing the number of issues and the way they are ordered. (Example: An issue has 3 choices, MWQ says it has 4.) This is the easiest way to see if an issue on MWQ is showing the correct choices.

Some choices of a single issue show the same after-text. The MWQ website is unable to differentiate the results of these two issue choices, and you should not choose either one of these choices to make sure you are safe, unless both or one of these choices look like they would be very beneficial for your country (Refer to Step 3). MWQ will represent that two choices show the same text by showing (choice number) / (choice number). An example of this is attached below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The changes are in the actual statistic units, not percentage.

If you determine that MWQ is not giving you the correct data for issue choices, you should probably dismiss it. (Refer to Step 3) Most issues that have wrong choices on MWQ, actually have only one or two wrong/non-existent choices, and it could be fairly easy to rule them out.

Quick Explanation of Parts of MWQ

Blue=Minimum Change / Red=Maximum Change / Green=Statistic Affected / Yellow=Average Effect / Pink=Amount Of Samples Where People Have Selected This Choice / Orange=After-text

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTE!!:If you are well above average in a stat, you will probably get a result around the minimum. If you are well below average in a stat, you will probably get a result around the maximum. If you are somewhere in between, look towards the mean. Some stats also may not have a minimum or maximum, and will always give you the same stat change. Example: "+1 Culture" instead of say "+0 to +1 Culture (mean +0.3527)"

Step 3, Picking The Right Choice: Do not be afraid of the big-red DISMISS button! If you genuinely want to become a utopia, you have to be aware of this button and use it frequently. Most issues only give choices that are like half upsides and downsides, with full out downside choices as well. You should dismiss these issues. You want issues with choices that only have upsides, or very little bad effects with mostly upsides. For example, you choose to add universal healthcare in an issue choice. Doing this is almost always mostly a beneficial thing, and has little to no downsides.

Use MWQ to determine how good an issue is, by looking at the maximum, minimum, and average data change in certain stats after picking certain choices. Still keep in mind about wrong choices in issues, and choices of issues giving the same after-text.

Also look at the policies that are removed or added as a result of picking a choice. You want policies such as: marriage equality, public protest, universal healthcare, and etc. to be put into place. You don't want policies such as no dissent, state press, autocracy, geronticide, or etc., to be put into place.

These are the most important statistics to look out for when looking at how an issue affects your country:
(If there is an L next to the stat, you want this stat LOWER. Otherwise, you want it higher.)

Economy / Average Income, And of Poor and Rich Incomes
L-Wealth Gaps
Civil Rights
Political Freedom
Scientific Advancement
Human Development Index
Education / Intelligence
Eco-Friendliness / Environmental Beauty / Weather
Welfare
Healthcare
Public Transportation
Safety / L-Crime
Lifespan
Health
Tourism
Culture
Industries And Sectors (You don't really need to look closely, just skim thru the minimum, max, and mean changes in data and if anything pops out to you take a closer look)
L-Authoritarianism / L-Social Conservatism / L-Ideological Radicality

An issue should mostly show increases in the stats that should be higher (Economy, Education, Transport), and mostly decreases or very small changes in the stats that should be lower for you to pick it (Wealth Gaps, Crime, Extremism).

Example Of A Utopian Choice (These 2 Images Are Of The Same Choice!)

Example Of a Mid-utopian Choice, (kinda leans to utopia) the negatively affected stats are mainly unimportant and the negatively affected stats that ARE important, such as healthcare and education, have not been affected too severely, other than maybe crime. (images of the same choice)

Example of a Dystopian choice, [image will be placed later]

This week, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR adopted the resolution to approve the Food Security Doctrine, banning the importation and cultivation of genetically modified plants, seeds and livestock, with an exception being for scientific research purposes. The law also bans the cultivation of genetically engineered plants and breeding of genetically engineered animals on the territory of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Agriculture is a pillar of the Soviet economy. It is now its second-largest industry after oil and gas. Along with natural resources, food experts are key to the economy and woven into the fabric of society.

Comrade Chairman of the Presidium of the USSR Shavkat Mirimonovich Mirziyoyev, when the resolution was adopted, said "We as a species have the choice to continue to develop our bodies and brains in a healthy upward trajectory, or, we can follow the Western example of recent decades, and intentionally poison our population with genetically altered food, pharmaceuticals, vaccinations, and fast food that should be classified as a dangerous, addictive drug. This law will ensure food security for our peoples, and will guarantee the agricultural future of our country."

Austria retreats from galicia and defends along the carpathians, focusing instead on serbia.
Germany forms the poznan pocket, where russia charges into Posen and gets encircled via train-drawn troops.
I could go on more but you get the idea.

Anyway, post WW1, germany includes Belgium, and gain their prussian lands in poland, and expand themselves into the baltics, crimea, and brittany. Austria gets all they could want, but soon collapse. Austria, just a husk of its former self, joins germany.
The dutch form a personal union into the new nation
