Who, exactly? Mother's Baby? I don't see why you would want to pet her. She would probably yell at you.

(Lousykitty is just a name based off of my main nation, Superbunny. Superbunny's citizens are probably more open to being pet because they're cats.)

I agree that movie adaptations don't have to follow books. However, I'd rather not see the Percy Jackson movies again, I've already lost too much of my life to them.

Anyway, movies that were better because they weren't like the books:

Silence of the Lambs
The Princess Bride
Fight Club
It

You can pet me, if you like, so long as you wash your hands first.

no you i want pet u!

I don’t agree completely, in mi opinion a movie based on a good book should follow strctly the story, but i agree that some movie are better than the mediocre book they are based on

Yeah i agree. Like a book I read at the end of the story the kid wins. But in the movie some other guy wins and gives the kid the trophy but still takes the credit for winning like what????????? They completly changed the ending of the book.

I have a very high tolerance for the violence, blood and gore of battle scenes in books (as long as they don’t describe the slithering out of purple intestines too many times) but almost none when I have to watch it. Movies almost always include way too much violence for my taste - so I much prefer books.

I alsooo agreeeeeee. Because u can imagine violence in a book but in a movie they make it as gory as possible.

Would you like a milkshake with that sir?

Just watched the first episode of Star Trek Picard. Non spoiler bit I'll say is that re: Patrick Stewart, I still would! Rest is serious spoiler so don't click if you're planning on watching it.

Meh.

I'll watch the rest of it because Patrick Stewart is still class but as good as he is, I'm not sure he can save this from the post modern nonsense where everything has to be either bums and boobs or dark, gritty and post apocalyptic. No way cannon federation takes an isolationist turn. One could only imagine what Gene Roddenberry would think of the utter mincemeat these charlatans have made of his vision.

On an aside, it's a shame Jerry Goldsmith is so long dead. Even the music is wrong in Trek now.

Also, why were there more executive producers than you'd fit in a bus?

Long-term capital gains

It turns out pedaling a mountain bike for 45 miles with over 1,900 feet of total elevation gain will get you something called Footballer's Ankle.

Exercise more, they said. You'll be healthier, they said. \:|

In their defense, the non-drive-side bearings in my bike's bottom bracket turned out to be totally seized. That probably didn't help.

I haven't watched any Trek since Nemesis, and based on what I've heard, that's the correct choice. I have been watching The Orville, however, which very much strikes me as Trek's spiritual successor. All the Trek alumni making cameos, or producing/directing, reinforces this conclusion.

I get how you feel. Not even the book author will watch the movies cause he doesn't want to ruin his own characters for himself.

Ahem.

I'd love to just say "ahem" and be done with it, but because we've now asked you several times:

Please try and write multiple sentences before pressing the "post" button. Also think about how you can add to the current conversation in a thoughtful and constructive manner instead of running your personal lick-and-fluff skit on the RMB. Having some experience on other RMBs, I would suggest The South Pacific as a place where you can better engage in these kinds of mini-roleplaying.

Think of the Forest RMB as a book club or neighborhood social that meets at your local bookstore or café to discuss news, philosophy, statistics, movies, and occasionally jokes. If you can't imagine yourself sitting at a chair around a table with a bunch of people in that setting and saying out loud "no you i want pet u!" and "*pets u like u never knew it*"-- don't post it here.

Yes, it makes you sound like someone's kid who was brought to the book club meeting only because their parent couldn't find a babysitter.

Don't be the kid running around with an airplane toy and shouting while everyone else is trying to engage in conversation.

Come, take a chair and join in. (Please!)

So, after 3 days is there any news of Conifer?

Ruinenlust and I were just discussing that and taking a look. Their First Minister (responsible for Embassy actions) has been out of the office for a few days, so hasn't been on to respond to the request yet. We're looking at sending a TG to one of their Founder nations just as a heads-up.

Were we waiting for something from them? I thought we voted yes on the embassy and forest breeze told them on their RMB and it was done. I’m there almost every day if you want me to ask about a response

As of this writing, none of the empowered government officials have responded to my telegram or have accepted our official request, so it's sort of "up in the air," I guess. :-/
