Some of the "Tycoon" games are my preferred ways to park my brain. Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon got it's hooks in me first. I've been through all the variations on that theme and still play Railroad Tycoon II via Steam. Roller Coaster Tycoon gets some of my downtime, but I find myself designing roller coasters more than building all out theme parks. And somewhere in my past is a game that I can no longer find a way to play called Sim Tower. I have Sim City but never had the time to learn it. (If I remember right the one time I tried it, a tornado ate much of my work.)

However, my favorite game pastime is my pinball machines. Too bad I am not home long enough to enjoy them.

The part that haunts my dreams are some of the things I witnessed on the raw tape. Imagine having a fire at your back to the point where jumping from 80 floors up is a better option than staying put.

As the fates would have it, where we set up was next to one of the locations the FDNY ambulances staged to pick up the remains of fire fighters and other first responders as they were recovered over the next few weeks. We would know when the recovery teams were going to bring someone out. All work on the pile would stop. Everyone would stand at attention, firefighters and police officers holding a salute as the backboard or litter passed from hand to hand down the rubble to the point it could be met, covered with a flag and walked the rest of the way to the ambulance. (The things we did not show you on TV...)

As a former paramedic, that hit me the hardest. Those men and and women just wanted to help and they died for their efforts.
