Anthem change leads to civil war!?

A civil war between socialist, federalist, and conservative factions of the Shinnokawan politico has erupted as a result of an anthem change.

It all started when an Assembly Representative from the Federalist party, Historian Yamakawa Hiro, and her historian association found some songs from a forgotten musician from the times of the Shinnokawan Revolution of 1981 SSC. The musician was known to be Park Murata. He made some marches and anthems that were popular in the days before the revolution and was recognized by revolutionary politician Sen. Meiji Ryou. When they created manuscripts of the pieces and, with the help of the Shinnokawan Philharmonic Orchestra, performed it, many people including members of the Department of Culture and the Arts found it amazing. One of the marches, titled Battle Cry of Freedom, was remarked to be so good, the DoCA Undersecretary said it should be the new national anthem. The conductor from the orchestra suggested making one of the other marches, Stars and Sun Forever (not it's OOC name), to be the National March. With this in mind, Representative Yamakawa went to the Assembly session with a bill that would make the songs the new anthem.

Both songs sat well with the majority of the people, and thus people became more and more interested in the works of Mr. Park. However, the majority of the Conservatives who held the previous anthem dear voted down the bill. The Socialists also voted it down, proposing their own anthem, which didn't sit well with majority of the people who already had disdain for the socialists and communists. The Liberals surprisingly voted for the bill, remarking that they welcomed the themes of freedom and liberty in these songs. When the bill was passed with a slight majority, the President signed it. With that signature sparked what would become a division in a nation.

Many people who were loyal to their parties protested the new anthems. Protests turned into riots. Riots turned into open rebellion. 7 of the 8 island provinces left the United Republic and formed their own states. The Conservatives held the North and they called themselves the Confederation of Shinnokawa. The Socialists held the south and they called themselves the People's Republic of Shinnokawa. Only one Island province, Shinkumo, decided to stay.

As of now, the President has declared a state of civil war and the assembly, now without the representatives from the rebelling provinces, approved the declaration and what's left of the United Republic, the nation, braces itself for war.
