The Port of Halifax is a major shipping port, ice free year round (in Canada that is a big thing), home of the RCN Naval Base Halifax.

Halifax is also the largest city in Atlantic Canada and the closest cities that are actually larger are Boston Massachusetts and Quebec City in Quebec. It has been a very long time since I had been to rl Halifax, but the Citidel is a significant feature of the city.

Other facts includes: 121 victims of the sinking of the Titanic are buried at Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
