What really revealed it? The cream cheese fan boying, bagel loving, or use of the word scrumptious?

All of that and more. Every ingredient is distinctly associated with US' white north. There are few foods as characteristic of the urban/suburban northeastern US as bagels. Eating eggs for breakfast on top of that, classic American move. Then there's the dairy consumption, both "normal" cheese (presumably American, Cheddar, maybe a jack of some sort?) AS WELL AS Cream cheese... I mean... the symbolism is in the food itself. And on top of that Ketchup is your seasoning of choice? If there is one way to ice the "white american" bit beyond the point of argument, Ketchup does it. At least you're not a midwesterner reaching for the ranch dressing... If you didn't eat this with a Dunkin iced coffee, I would be disappointed. Calling it unironically scrumptious is just the cherry on top of this pasty pie.

I have no doubt that your ham and cheese ketchup bagel is a tasty little breakfast sandwich (a breakfast item with distinctly American origins, I might add) is good. But if anything can be said as reflecting our breakfast culture as northeastern americans, this sandwich is pretty close.

Well stated.

A couple of points:

1. Absolutely not American, I hate it. It was swiss.
2. Not a big fan of ranch on anything except salad. Love the dressing, hate the craze of putting it on everything
3. I like the word scrumptious, and I realized I sounded dorky so embraced it.
4. DAMN IT. It would've been so good with some Dunkin (This was said in a Boston accent). I had coffee with it, but it was home made. At least the creamer was that Dunkin' creamer.

Fun fact: My city tried to get a Dunkin open across the street from me. My neighborhood is mostly all residential, but we have a little Dollar General across the street (Used to be a full Grocery store) and now a Liquor store. There is a long vacant building where there used to be a Pharmacy they wanted to fill. The parking lot has an exit and an entrance (Though the thing is so pot-hole ridden, I think Dunkin would need to fix it for sure to make that work.

They said no almost immediately 🙃

Made sense to me as a business decision; *Sure* it's right next to an intersection where two state routes meet, and has a lot of thoroughfare, but the one guy who owns every Dunkin in town does have one on the exit ramp from the highway in the next town over, and a bunch on the route further into town. Plus, they're cutting my street off from the intersection.

But I wanted Dunkin as my neighbor so bad.

Back in my high school days my debate team went to a tournament in Boston, and we got stuck in the hotel for a couple of days because of a blizzard that took place during our trip, so the only things we could eat during those days were Dunkin and random snacks from the hotel store.

I consumed a lifetime's supply of Dunkin during those days and haven't been able to have any since.

Privately, the Empress Draexa and Lord-Prime Minister L'Quillaexia have reportedly expressed support to Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau following reports that British Columbian Representative Hardeep Singh Nijjar was murdered by the Indian state.

The Senate and Empress have had to walk a tight-rope between wanting to secure valuable relations with India, and the Modi government's track record of human rights abuses.

Reports from an crown inside source suggests that the Empress originally wanted to release a public statement on the manner, but was advised it might be best to take a backseat on the matter until more information comes to light.

I'm just going to say right now that Justin had better be right, because accusing a major country like India of this is sort of huge. Especially because apparently the murder happened on Canadian soil, which is way worse.

I'm not saying it didn't, I'd totally believe it.

But it absolutely has a lot of potential diplomatic repercussions

Gonna be real chief this is the first time I've checked NS in over a week.

I could use the writing practice though so I might get back into it but no guarantees.

The face when you manage to CTD and were only 20 minutes late to stop it 😒

I think discord was a mistake. Like, I like it, but it's encouraging me to not be active here but I really want to keep working on the nation and things.

Draexa Alēxxīa saō Ðardanexia II followed her wife, Adelheid into the ballroom of the Palace, carrying their newly adopted daughter, Ziyuan. Distracted by the pretty music playing, she barely recognized when her wife stepped away unexpectedly. Ziyuan, cute as ever, reached out to Prime Minister Ylva of Burcaea, saying cutely 'got your nose!' in broken baby-speak

I believe the Princess likes you Prime Minister. It figures. She must have good taste like her mother. *I smile at Prime Minister Ylva* I mean me of course.

As we spoke, people began to dance in the ballroom, quaint nobles and ladies of Syagros, as servants of the Palace distributed hors d'oeuvres of fanciful pastries, fine wine, and petite cucumber sandwiches It was the typical fanfair you might expect at a baby shower...except for the alcohol. But given the fact neither she nor Adelheid was pregnant, that hardly seemed like an issue.

We just need to wait for Adelheid, my wife. We're going to finish the ceremonies, then present Ziyuan with some presents...thanks for coming by the way. I know this isn't the most serious meeting, but I appreciate your presence as always. I attempt to curtsey, but both unused to dresses, and holding a baby, I reach out to Ylva to stop my fall

Thank you Prime Minister.

Bewildered, I looked at the time on my watch hastily. Seeing the late hour, I quickly excuse myself, leaving my daughter in the care of Ylva as I run to find Adelheid. Once I was far enough down the hall, I yelled out to her. As I passed a long row of windows facing the city below, I could see the protestors, furious that their Empress was allowing an adopted commoner to be named her heir. Somehow, the protests over Ziyuan were worse than the ones following my coming out. Only in Syagros, would the Imperial heir's bloodline be more controversial than the Empress transitioning from a man. I winced...not that coming out was easy. The last year had been a tumultuous time in the country, marked by social upheaval. El?? (Adelheid's nickname) Darling? Are you alright? Where are you. We need to finish the coronation babe...

Groaning could be heard from the nearest restroom.

Adelheid??? Are you okay? Are you sick?

I ran into the restroom, seeing Adelheid bent over the sink, her head slammed against the mirror with a thermometer looking instrument in her hand

Adelheid? Babe? Speak to me. Do you have a fever?

Stepping behind her, I hug her tight

You're supposed to be the strong one. You know I'm too shy to face all of these dignitaries without my strong German wifey...well, except Ylva. She's family.

Adelheid grunted, 'look at the test. I'm pregnant Draexa'

Huh? How? Is that possible with my medicine?

Looking down, I notice the instrument is not a thermometer, but a pregnancy test, with two visible blue lines

Adelheid...you can't be pregnant...

She huffed. 'Of course it is. You did it. I've missed my period already Draexa. I already knew I was before this. Why do you think I woke up sick this morning? Morning sickness.' Adelheid then slammed the bathroom mirror of the luxurious, marble palace, cursing expletives in German

I'm sorry...

Adelheid turned around hugging me. 'Sorry? This is a wonderful surprise Draexa. Ziyuan will have a sibling, we'll be mothers twice over.'

Then why do you look pissed? You only break out in German when you're angry.

Always the softie, and maybe a little emotional from everything going wrong in life lately, I cried a little

Are you mad at me Adelheid? We were just having so much fun...I didn't think about it...

Adelheid sighed and said 'You're not the issue my sweet wife. Draexa, there can't be two heirs. You know better than anyone in this country, how insane succession wars can get if twins are born. This is worse. Ziyuan isn't even your blood. Neither of us cares about that, but the last time a succession crisis like this was brewing...it was when your namesake faced off against she-who-will-not-be-named during the Potentate. Our little daughter will be judged unworthy of the throne. Even if violence never breaks out, even if she ascends to the throne...she'll always be judged. She'll always be told she doesn't belong on the ruby throne. She'll be told she isn't a real Empress.'

*I sighed, pouting as I went in Adelheid's arms, wanting to feel small, forget the world*

Just like her Mom.

*I cry for real now, emotional*

I'm so happy...we're going to have a full house...I swear I am.

*I shudder*

But this is going to be hard.

Wrapping a lock of my blonde hair through her fingers, Adelheid, ever stern and adamant, whispered cooly into my ear: 'What is worth having always is Draexa my dear'
