Far eastern union of soviet republics

The-kalmar-union wrote:The Riksrådet Oslo Session

The same statement of concern stated the following in regards to the Far eastern union of soviet republics

“We, the Riksrådet of the Kalmar Union, do hope the strange involvement of the FEUSSR in European affairs is of good faith. Their practice of “armed neutrality” only seemingly shows a willingness to force the will of its government on the sovereignty of other nations to broker deals that only favor one party, the FEUSSR. Our trade, our citizens, must not be interfered with. We do hope the use of the UAN can be realized to broker such deals. We will seek such paths on the international floor.”

Ministry of Foreign Affairs - The-kalmar-union

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarifies that the FEUSSR's stance on armed neutrality is with respects to the current situation in Southern Asia. It is not reflective of the nation's stance on European affairs. The FEUSSR's policies will not actively interfere with the people of Europe or their efforts to trade unless they intend to export arms and munitions through the territory of the FEUSSR into an active conflict zone.

The FEUSSR's contact with certain European nations is public. It is not the product of under-the-table dealing that ought to be kept in secret. Rather, it is the end product of mutual respect and the spirit of cooperation. The FEUSSR seeks no unequal benefit or interference in the continent of Europe, save for arrangements which advantage all sides involved or are consented to freely by all parties involved.

Prepared by the Economic Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hyŏngmyŏng-si

Heavier focus on infrastructure spending

The Ministry of Works, in conjunction with local governments across the country, is set to roll out infrastructural stimulus through a state infrastructure investment fund, special purpose bonds, and policy bank lending. Over $400 billion USP ($59.2 billion USD) of capital will be injected to major, job-boosting infrastructure projects which touch on public transportation, water conservation, energy, agricultural improvement, rural affairs, urban construction, ecological and environmental protections, and rebuilding from disasters. Almost $100 billion USP of the stimulus will go towards renovating the urban environment across major cities in the FEUSSR to make them more heat-resistant. These include the construction of rooftop gardens (or "green roofs") to reduce rooftop heat accumulation, fitting green facades onto the walls of subway station exits and sheltered bus terminals, planting more green vegetation around buildings and in open spaces, re-zoning areas to build urban parks with blue spaces, and "cooling" down pavements by painting them with light colours.

Fiscal policies to stabilise economic shocks

In Q4 of this year, the FEUSSR's economy was significantly affected by the outbreak of war in Southern Asia. Market prospects have plummeted due to violent turmoil in the Beihaidao SSR. Billions of dollars of exports and other commercial transactions have been frustrated. The Ministry of Revenues is exploring new ways to combat economic disruptions for domestic businesses. Policy banks are expected to provide around $500 billion USP ($74 billion USD) in financing to support a wide range of SMEs and self-employed businesses in hospitality, tourism, manufacturing, and resource production. $10 billion USP in tax returns will be provided to businesses in the wholesale, retail, hospitality, education, health, sports and recreation, manufacturing, scientific research and development, energy, ICT, and transport services sectors. A round of allowances worth $10 billion USP will be released to local governments to promote procurement from SMEs. A second round of subsidies, worth $8.5 billion USP, will be released for households to purchase solar-powered air conditioners and reduce their environmental footprint.

"Weak spot' discovered that potentially makes multi-drug resistant tumors vulnerable

One of the greatest challenges facing cancer researchers is to understand why some patients don't respond to treatments. In some cases, tumors exhibit what is known as multidrug resistance (MDR), which significantly limits the therapeutic options for patients. Researchers at the National Cancer Research Centre in New York have discovered one of the causes of MDR, and a potential strategy to combat it. The work, which is mainly based on cell lines and is therefore still a long way from clinical use, is published in EMBO Molecular Medicine.

Our findings "explain why many of the available therapies don't work in certain tumors, and at the same time identify the weak point of these resistant cancers," explains Oscar Fernandez-Capetillo, head of the CNIO's Genomic Instability Group and lead author of this research. "We now know that this vulnerability can be exploited using drugs that already exist."

As the study shows, mutations that inactivate the function of a particular gene, FBXW7, "reduce the sensitivity to the vast majority of available therapies," the authors write, but at the same time render tumor cells vulnerable to the action of a particular type of drug: those that activate the "integrated stress response" (ISR).

FBXW7 is one of the 10 most frequently mutated genes in human cancers," and is associated with "poor survival across all human cancers," the authors add.

The study began by using the CRISPR technology in mouse stem cells to search for mutations that generate resistance to anti-tumoral agents such as cisplatin, rigosertib or ultraviolet light. Mutations in the FBXW7 gene emerged early on, suggesting that this mutation could confer MDR. Bioinformatic analysis of databases such as the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE), with information on the response of more than a thousand human cancer cell lines to thousands of compounds, confirmed that FBXW7 mutant cells are resistant to most of the drugs available in this dataset.

Regardless of mutations, further analyses in the Cancer Therapeutics Response Portal (CTRP) revealed that reduced levels of FBXW7 expression were also associated with a worse response to chemotherapy. In fact, the authors suggest using FBXW7 levels as a biomarker to predict patient response to drugs.

Having established the link between FBXW7 deficiency and multi-resistance, the researchers looked for its cause. They found it in the mitochondria, the cell organelles involved in metabolism and cellular respiration.

FBXW7-deficient cells showed an excess of mitochondrial proteins, which has previously been found to be associated with drug resistance. Nevertheless, a detailed analysis of these organelles further revealed that the mitochondria of these multi-resistant cells appeared to be under a lot of stress.

The discovery of this mitochondrial stress would be key to identifying strategies to overcome drug resistance in cells with FBXW7 mutations. Mitochondria are the remnants of ancient bacteria that fused with primitive eukaryotic cells billions of years ago; therefore, if antibiotics attack bacteria, could an antibiotic kill a cancer cell too rich in mitochondria?

In fact, anti-tumoral properties of certain antibiotics have been identified in the past, but these were isolated cases and therefore potentially attributable to unknown individual mutations in patients. Fernandez-Capetillo and his group have shown that the antibiotic tigecycline is indeed toxic to FBXW7-deficient cells, opening up a new avenue of research to tackle multi-resistance.

But probably even more important is the discovery of why this antibiotic has anti-tumor properties. The authors of the just-published paper show that tigecycline kills cells by hyperactivating the integrated stress response (ISR), and further demonstrate that other drugs capable of activating the ISR are also toxic to cells with FBXW7 mutations.

It is worth noting that many of these ISR-activating drugs are oncological therapies in common clinical use today, and that until now it was assumed that they worked by other mechanisms. However, the present study reveals that part of their anti-tumor efficacy is due to their effect in activating the ISR.

"Our study, together with other recent works, indicate that activating the ISR could be a way to overcome chemotherapy resistance. However, much work remains to be done. Which drugs activate the ISR best and most strongly? Which patients would benefit most from this strategy? Attempting to answer these questions is what we aim to do in the immediate future," says Fernandez-Capetillo.

The work has been funded by the Department of Health, the American Association Against Cancer (AAAC) and the "La Caixa" Foundation, among others.

President Rayyan Guarantees Safety of Shipping Lanes; Slashes Prices at Port of Singapura

Amidst the outbreak of conflict in neighbouring Southern Asia and the Indian Ocean, Indonesia has taken the decision to prepare itself militarily in order to secure its own national security, and take the necessary steps to secure the international shipping lanes upon which it sits. These vital trade routes crisscross Indonesian waters and prove to be critical arteries in the global economy, keeping goods and capital flowing between the economic powerhouse of East Asia, and the massive consumer markets of Europe and rapidly growing ones of Africa. In order to minimize the potential risk posed to these vital shipping lanes, the Indonesian Government has seen fit to authorize the use of the Indonesian Naval and Airforce to actively monitor and control the traffic of the Straits of Malacca, Sunda, Lombok, and so on in order to ensure the safety of all vessels passing through Indonesian waters.

All commerical vessels are guaranteed safe passage throughout the Indonesian archipelago, and upon special request, an armed escort may be provided to escort vessels arcoss the Indian Ocean to the Gulf of Aden in Infiny in order to reduce risk while passing near the volatile and unfolding situation in India. Jakarta reassures governments and corporations alike that its shipping lanes are still safe for use, and even encourages traffic flow to continue. In order to encourage companies to continue passage, prices at the Port of Singapura have been slashed by nearly 30%. Prices affected include: Docking Fees, Ship Cleaning Fees, Repair Costs, Refueling Costs, Lodging for Ship Crews, Food & Drink, as well as vessel licensing fees.

Encrypted Letter to the President Rayyan of Eulumia

Dear,
President Rayyan

It is with upmost desire that we request permission for your waters to be open to the naval vessels of the Commonwealth. The opening of the waters is to ensure the security of the Sub-Indian Continent and Southeast Asia and to assist with combat operations against the The soviet raj. This is also to ensure the safety of civilian vessels against attacks from the The soviet raj.

As you may know, the Commonwealth was ruthlessly attacked and unprovoked in British hanthawaddy. The regime of The soviet raj is unpredictable and rogue with their actions. The opening of your waters to Commonwealth naval vessels will help ensure the protection of the free world and Asia. The Commonwealth Naval Forces will also be transporting humanitarian equipment to help assist with refugees. The Commonwealth fears for civilian vessels and life as the government of the The soviet raj is unpredictable with their actions. We do respect your stance of neutrality and applaud your efforts for the protection of civilian life and vessels.

I am open to come to Eulumia to host a summit and to also represent the commonwealth about allowing your waters and airspace to be open to Commonwealth Air Forces and Naval Forces.

Signed,
Prime Minister Jack Kerry

SOVIET RAJIAN CITIZENS BARRED FROM ENTRY INTO CHINA ALONG WITH STOP OF TRADE

Due to the recent events just west of China, citizens of British Hanthawaddy were allowed to seek refuge within the Chinese provinces of Yunnan and Guangxi. While there was no reach out towards Rajians, they were still allowed to enter China as tourists or workers. After a recent decision by the Federal Legislature, Rajians have been barred from entering China for whatever reason. Any Rajians present that do not have a main place of residence within China have been asked to return to their main residence outside of China. There has not been an end date to this bar of Rajians but ministers in the Federal Legislature have noted that they'll be allowed into China once again once the issues at hand are dealt with. The Federal Legislature, through the Ministry of Commerce, has also stopped what limited trade existed between the Republic of China and the Soviet Raj. The Federal Legislature has noted that this is only reactionary to such a drastic action taken to invade another nation. Ministers across China hope that the conflict comes to a swift end with minimal bloodshed.

The girl from Kalmar

Today is finally the day. Maj-Britt Haglund has graduated from boot camp in the Royal Kalmar Army. Private First Class Haglund, not a bad title for an 18 year old girl. Or woman? She is a woman now. She can field strip a gun, and shoot it. She earned top of her class in the shooting courses, even graduating with distinction and the Markswoman medal. Maj-Britt does not come from some long line of heroes. Family members fought in world war 2, but so did most of Europe. She expected the same, but nonetheless she was proud. She strained her neck to see her family but didn’t see them…no matter. “Maybe I looked at the wrong section?” She pondered.

After the ceremony, she realized that she did look at the right section. Her family didn’t show up she pushed past her tears. One of the graduates she friended during the previous 10 weeks invited to take her home for the next week before she goes to advanced infantry training.

18 years old, floating in the world, facing 4 years of a journey in Royal Army. She looks out the car window during the ride home, and tears finally roll out of her eyes. She wonders if they are happy or sad.

Important News in Greater Arbëria
New Infrastructural Project
Earlier this morning, PM Shala announced the commencement of a major infrastructural project to be carried out across the country. Termed the 'Connection Project', the Albanian government will be investing a sizeable sum of $7.4 billion for a variety of purposes, as outlined below:

    1. The improvement of major roads and transport routes across the nation, particularly those that lead to rural and mountainous regions.
    2. The construction of newer roads for transport across the nation to help facilitate the flow of raw products and goods.
    3. The improvement and expansion of multiple major trading harbours and ports - Durrës, Vlorë, Shëngjin, Sarandë, Korfuz and Gumenicë - to increase shipping volume capability and to meet higher importing and exporting standards.

The government has stated that this is a multi-ministerial project that requires the cooperation of numerous ministries, but they are certain of it's eventual effectiveness. The importing and exporting capabilities of Greater Arbëria will significantly increase upon completion, and there will be a major ease in transport of raw and processed goods through the country. In conjunction with the enhanced trading capacity of our major shipping ports, this improved flow of goods will ultimately contribute to a healthy growth in the economy and should provide more employment opportunities across a variety of fields. Domestic businesses will also reap the benefits of the Connection Project as they will be provided with further opportunities to expand their business and to sell their goods to the global market. The Connection Project marks the most expensive infrastructural project to date by the Albanian government, but PM Shala is convinced that it will be of great use to the nation. As of now, it is expected to take around 60 weeks to build.

PM Shala's Comments on Neighbouring Albanian Populations
In the same conference, PM Shala was asked about the state of neighbouring ethnic Albanian populations in regions such as Bujanoc, Presheva and Medvegja (currently under Serbia), as well as the Malësia e Madhe region partly located in Montenegro. Recent reports have indicated that the Albanian population in these regions have been calling for union with Greater Arbëria and the unification of an Ethnic Albania much to the dismay of their host countries. PM Shala said the following:

"I have heard about the recent calls for union between these regions of an ethnic Albanian character in neighbouring countries with that of our own; although I do not wish to contribute to any further instability in the Balkans and Europe as a whole, it is important that we consider the historical context from which these desires arise. In the early 1900's, when the world's powers divided up the Balkan states, half of the ethnic Albanian population was actually left outside of the borders of the Albanian state. Rather, they were partitioned between multiple countries. Now although our history during and after World War II has rectified the situation to some degree due to the incorporation of Ilirida, Dardania and Çamëria into a greater Albanian state, it is important to understand that our fellow Albanians in the Presheva Valley region, Bujanoc and Medvegja - as well as those in Ulqin, Tivari, Gruda, Koja and several other regions in Montenegro - are still under foreign states that have discriminated against the Albanians since their conception and have displayed ultra-nationalistic tendencies on lands that have traditionally belonged to our people. Genocides, assimilation and ethnic cleansings of Albanian populations have characterised their state-building, and it is understandable as to why the Albanians of said nation wish to be incorporated into Greater Arbëria. We would like to make it known that, as an Albanian state, it is of utmost importance that we represent our Albanian communities in other nations and be their voice. We will not and will never tolerate their mistreatment and discrimination at the hands of an oppressive system. We encourage the governments of these nations to enter into peaceful and progressive dialogue with these communities so that we may diplomatically achieve a resolution, and we will be monitoring these situations extremely closely."

It is not yet clear as to what the goals of the Albanian government are, but it does indeed seem to align with the aspirations of these ethnic Albanian communities. It remains to be seen as to how this will all develop.

DISPUTES ACROSS MAINLAND CHINA OVER CONTROVERSIAL DECISION REGARDING RAJIANS

The Federal Legislature of the Republic of China in Guangzhou made a decision earlier to remove all Rajians that don't have permanent residence anywhere in the mainland. While it won't be reported by any media in the mainland, the Hong Kong Inquirer received reports of Rajians peacefully protesting the news in cities such as Changsha, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Hefei, Nanning, and Xiamen. Word has also come to the Hong Kong Inquirer that Rajians that are failing to adhere to the controversial order lead by President Ma Hsiao-Tan.

The Rajians in Hong Kong have been notified that, due to the agreement still in place until the next Special Autonomous Region status vote, they are not required to leave. They may stay as long as their visa allows. A handful of Hongkongese people were questioned on their thoughts about the controversial order and a majority stated that, despite the actions taken by the Soviet Raj, barring all of their citizens is an unnecessary action taken for the warmongering actions of the Rajian leader.

After a bit, the Federal Legislature decided to establish consulates in Indonesia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Asian Affairs. The Hong Kong Inquirer and many in Hong Kong saw this as an attempt to distract from the controversial decision. Places such as Kalmar and the Eastern Soviet Union have allowed both Rajian and Hanthawaddian citizens to seek refuge inside their nations for the time being. In the belief of staying neutral, China is causing more harm. Both Rajian and Hanthawaddians that travel directly to Hong Kong will be welcome and will not have to worry about being prosecuted for attempting to save their life by leaving the areas of fighting. Hongkongese citizens have called for the controversial decision to be reversed, but due to the ruling party's super majority, it's obvious nothing of that nature will happen. Perhaps this may start the downfall of the Chinese People's Party? Only time will tell.

Loring: Welcome to Camp Tahrir Sir, I'm Major Loring, advisor to the Royal Mysorean Air Force, this is Group Captain McCallister, and Captain St.Clair, they're also Advisors. Major Chamberlain is currently out looking for downed pilots.

St.Clair: We lose some aircraft from our mission last week. 4 Mirage 5s, however, we've down 14 of the Rajs. Major Chamberlain took his squad out last night to bring them back and they should be back any time no hopefully. We've also successfully destroyed all Military Installations in and around Jaipur.

Loring: General Gates, I was hoping you could speak to command. If we can get bombers here at Camp Tahrir, I think my group can certainly clear a corridor and provide escorts for them.

Gates merely observed the camp for a brief moment before replying

"I can't make the call on stationing any kind of bombers here. I sure the Air Force will send some A-20s but my boys will arrive in a few weeks at best. Supplies, armor, equipment. You name it, it's coming. I can however say that some F-35s with vertical take off will be based here and no...the Sultan's pilots will not be flying them. If he so much as even ask that question, direct him to me. Now then...what else should I know of before we get down to planning?"
