Question of the Day:

How difficult would it be for Darth Sidious to take over your nation from within?

Tethys 13 wrote:My answer:
Tricky, but quite doable. Tethysi are highly intelligent, insightful and perceptive, but their devotion to story can be manipulated by a keen enough mind, and they greatly respect strength and cunning, which good old Sheev had in ample supply. However, once he was in place, it would probably once again become much harder for him to stay there, as there is nothing that rouses the Tethysi like a powerful villain to oppose.

Impossible because the Revolutionary Spirit of the Islamic Republic of Iran would prevent him.

What old, terrible game do you have a particularly rose-tinted nostalgic attachment to?

Two old Macintosh II games:

  • Exile:Escape from the Pit, and

  • Escape Velocity

I spent many happy hours on both of them, but died thousands of times, and had to always revert to saved...

I discovered the TV series The Booth at the End and the series The Dresden Files. Too bad they both were short lived.

Never. Even the his Royal Majesty the Emperor himself, who has the highest authority within our realm is restricted by the Imperial Constitution, and let alone anybody else who are below him.

It could never happen, first of all, because nobody outside Kharostia's present contacts knows about, much less understands, its existence.

Question of the Day:

What long-running works of fiction do you think were particularly held back by a wariness to change aspects the core viewers were attached to? remember to use

if necessary

There could be so many answers to this, but I will pick a few that came to mind.
One Piece and far too many of its contemporary Japanese fictions struggle greatly with the 'culture of perversion' that suffuses the core audiences of anime and manga.
House M.D. is tragic to me with how close to greatness it gets, stymied by its refusal to let the main character enjoy any permanent character development in a positive direction, despite many attempts.
The Rookie has been plagued by this as a vicious cycle, with its key black actors demanding (quite reasonably) that it more clearly address the systematic racism built into the profession it portrays, it attempting to do so, backtracking when its core audience of police-fans reacts poorly to the profession being portrayed at all negatively, thus pushing away those black actors and having to awkwardly cut the characters in the pilot of the next season when they quit.

He probably would get stuck at the border due to our immigration laws..
And mandatory ID tagging, DNA sampling amongst other things.

I'd say low probability, as he would also have to incite a revolution to overthrow an entire technocratic goverment.
