New waldesnia - page=rmb/postid=39700484

Just a few things I care to say.

1. Since you actually handled Rhiney, not going to dispute removal from the server, whatever, but we didn't harass anybody. Rhiney broke the law and Discord TOS. Calling that out isn't harassment. Thanks for taking steps to handle that, though.

2. Crimsonfield has in the past feigned mental illness, lied about their age and gender, made inappropriate comments to other players including minors, and that's not even getting into their gameplay and NS rule violations, puppet strings, and waging war on our two regions (and others prior). Apology means nothing.

2B. Why does it matter if the primary victim (Gagium) is in the RCN or not as to whether Crim is allowed? His presence, or lack thereof, does not negate their egregious behavior.

3. To restate, nobody "harassed" your members. Rhiney absolutely was at least up until you told him to cut the crap, though.

Greater Sacramento Vote
The Islamic Republic will vote for the resolution. International Security is important and when disputes arise that have no higher authority reliable to judge the situation fairly we could enter an age of war and international conflict. This is something to be avoided for the only planet we have is this one.

New Gandor Vote
New Gandor votes yes for the resolution citing again the Karmozov Trial. Having a higher court judge international cases, if this works out well, could be beneficial and there is no harm in attempting such a thing with the current basis set by the resolution.

The delegation from The United Commonwealths of Gagium will vote FOR TCN 27. This resolution builds upon the previous resolution and clarifies how some of the trials mentioned in TCN 26 will operate.

"The Republic of Lyoa will be voting IN FAVOR of this resolution. Seeing as the court system is already in place and that certain grievances are only a small part of the court system, Lyoa believes that strengthening a tool to potentially use against foreign criminals will be useful."

Following internal cabinet deliberations, Quebecshire a.k.a Cubic shall be considered persona non grata in the Union of Democratic States and its affiliated properties. This decision is not one that is made lightly but recent events have demonstrated its necessity in maintaining the environment and regional culture that the UDS desires.

Since the UDS declared me a persona non grata, I'll be making this statement, but on behalf of myself, not the region, as we have no official relations with them.

It's a spineless and vindictive move to declare someone, specifically a longtime diplomat, colleague, and allied leader, a persona non grata (without giving them an opportunity to defend themselves) because they didn't bend the knee and force their region to adopt the same exact moderation policies you do.

EDIT: It's also rather unprofessional and childish to decline to justify the action and then to block me, Phoenix Coalition.

The UDS has brought up one valid thing of intolerable behavior that went unpunished
And its from 18 months ago and I fully admit it was a lapse in judgement/moderation
Guess Im a perpetrator of racism and homophobia and this region is unfit for existence (unironically said by one of their admins)

Creeperopolis, Amaan Land, Three sicilian states, and Eminople

Since Asdersland wrote a small essay about my alleged character flaws, I kind of want to respond publicly. I deserve the right to defend myself and this region, so this is what we get to work with. I'm going to do so here because he posted it in the UDS announcements channel and on their forum, both of which I'm banned from per the PNG, as far as I am aware. Theoretically, I could make a forum account to reply but that's not worth the trouble nor fallout of doing so.

For the record: Quebecshire is the first PNG of the new constitution because he's a facilitator and perpetrator of racism and homophobia. The UDS people - as should any region or person with a basic sense of morality and decency - abhor the blatant and disgraceful usage of slurs and the culture of bigotry in the LCN that have been so apparent for some time and which have come to a boil in recent days.

Usage of slurs... "culture of bigotry"... I've addressed this a ton of times, go here for future information. I'll copy and paste the important parts, though,

The LCN remains of the opinion that our moderation policy is fair and just. The allegation that we allow hate speech is simply untrue. It is accurate that certain generally offensive terms are allowed on the condition that both the poster and the person(s) the post is directed to are comfortable with the language used. It is our opinion that hate is at least partially conditional on the intent of the poster and the perception of the recipient of the comments. We have specifically created a channel for anyone to come forward and bring up a concern they have to our moderation team (officially known as the League’s Police Force - the LPF), this includes reporting behavior that they consider to make them feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or otherwise rule-breaking. Anyone may report content that makes them feel unsafe, unwelcome, or uncomfortable and it will be handled if any sort of behavior is directed towards them again.

AND

If there have been any lapses or errors in LPF enforcement, we would be happy to correct those. However, it is important to this region that our policies and environment are not lied about by those who do not know our community as well as the members and leadership within it. Recently, one official was accused of discriminatory and unprofessional behavior as part of some larger concerns raised by the public. That official was placed on a special moderation protocol and eventually resigned. We do not tolerate hate or other misconduct within our region. Greater Sacramento, the primary recipient of the behavior of the person in question, has offered a statement below:

We ask nothing more than the mere acceptance of the fact that racism and homophobia, in all their forms, are not acceptable in NS society. This includes the usage of obvious slurs, as was seen in the LCN case. This is not a hard bar to clear, and frankly, any region or community that engages in such intolerant acts is not fit for existence and especially not for relations with the UDS. Sadly, the LCN refused to acknowledge even the possibility that these sentiments and statements simply do not have a place in an online community where people of all kinds gather to play a game.

Evidently our regions agree on what crosses the line in particular. Nonetheless, this post goes beyond that and implies that we tolerate discrimination, which we do not. We have venues to specifically report this sort of behaviour and we have taken action on those cases which necessitate it. Later in this post, I will address one specific error on my part and on moderation's part. That is ONE example from 18 months ago because we have an EFFECTIVE, imperfect, yet effective moderation policy and staff. The claim that our region is "not fit for existence" is just a hostile statement to make that I don't wish to further reply to.

This personally comes as no surprise. I was aware of the nauseating tolerance for homophobia and racism in the LCN back to the time when I was Prime Minister, and I called out Quebecshire privately on the matter. He defended a particular incident in which a player (whom he identified as male) was called "Lesbian [n word pun/play on the word Nagarno]" by saying "[he's called that] because everyone hates him" and "I remove the N word if it's not deleted in a timely manner".

This specific instance was from January 2nd, 2019. I actually forgot about it until I went back and checked Asder and I's DMs. And I 100% admit that this was a lapse in our judgement and something that should have been addressed. You have my personal apology, and while this does not excuse it, our moderation staff was not fully developed and organized legally until after the dismissal of Consul Salisford about a month later. We dropped the ball on that one and I completely believe our moderation staff has grown both in response time and style and in what is and is not allowed since that time.

Not only is this still racist and homophobic, even if the target is ostensibly not part of those groups, it's also blatantly abusive. It speaks wonders to the systematic history of the LCN in this matter and the refusal of its leadership to take any action whatsoever. I personally was dissuaded from taking action against the LCN at that time, and that is an action which I regret thoroughly. We cannot be complicit in this sort of behavior any longer.

That comment was unacceptable and would result in consequences if said today. I give me word on that much. We are not perfect, we have made mistakes before, but the important thing is moving on to correct them. If you desire to invoke history, I wish to restate that the LPF lacked sufficient organization and it was not taken seriously by itself nor by many members at the time. For that I apologize, but it is objective that our moderation is not the same now as it was at the time of that one unpunished example.

To any other bigots among us: let this be a message to you to get out, because we don't want or need you. You are a stain on the NationStates community.

Which is why we have taken a strong stance against Farkasfalka, and our region's more provocative and bothersome adversary, Nagarno, who is a white nationalist and homophobe, and actually embodies the things you accuse me of in this statement.

The rest of his statement is mostly the conclusion and thus I will not respond directly.

As a general conclusion, the UDS is free to have closed embassies with us. But what this statement accuses our region of being is not what it is. I have had an active role in building a safe, welcoming, and tight-knit community of players here of many races on nearly every continent and of various sexual identities. Asdersland, I understand your concerns on a general level, but they are directed at the wrong people and wrong region, and frankly, you do not know this region. The one specific example I've seen cited in this whole issue and the one in our DMs is from a different era which we have progressed past, and it is one I take responsibility for. This region is not one which houses a culture of bigotry. I am willing to discuss further, respectfully, in DMs, if you wish.
