Montarc wrote:

"About 3-2-8 yards, fire HE" spoke a Corporal to a private, one that was readying a rifle grenade (Rifle Grenades are fan favorites of the Montarcian Army). "Aim at that carefully, we're here for the armed units, the civilians mustn't be hurt.-" Bang, a hardy Lance Corporal fell 10 yards down the way, causing everyone to scatter down onto the ground, in a semi-ditch that exited the treeline proper. However, the private, out of what could be considered idiotic bravery, noticed the shot, and fired the rifle grenade, ducking down immediately after.

A halt began, several shot popped off, but then silence arose from the Montarcians. A Sergeant carrying a megaphone carefully attempted to speak, "Asphodelians, we do not wish to engage in combat with civilians in the area, please, if you would be so kind, allow our Platoon to escort them into the town, away from the fighting. Again, we wish to not endanger civilians." He then etched back down into the ditch, the dirt barely making a difference on his brown uniform.

Meanwhile, the Captain looked up from 2nd Platoon's overwatch position, "Pray to God that the Staff Sergeant knows what he's doing" He said, before getting up and running at the Division Sniper Team, ordering them to target and ready on heavily armed or suspected higher-rank targets. A infantryman spoke, " radio from RECON-ALPHA, says two unidentified helicopters are entering the vicinity, suspected hostile."

"Damn, ok, go get your MANPAD Operator for this Platoon, tell him to not engage a lock, nor fire, until the helicopter is about to land. That should get them in a pickle. Have Firebase ready to shell the compound with HE and Smoke on and in between our current line and the factory complex, they should fire around the same time that MANPAD is launched, and make it little as possible with the HE. I'm running down to tell the rest of the lot to mount bayonets, and find a second bloody MANPAD Operator." And with that, he ditched it for the ditch, carefully yet quickly making his way down.

By now, the sun was seeing it's end at the horizion, the sparse clouds drifting by...
---------------------
Stopped in a village due to "secret squirrel logistical holdup" (according to one Lieutenant), the rest of the Division sat idle, waiting for whatever in God's name was coming from command. Then, a lot of jeeps began appearing down the roadway, all with boxes labeled "UNIFORMS".

"What's going on now?" said the (same from earlier) Lieutenant.

"Well, you've been upgraded," a Staff Sergeant said, as the men riding the jeeps dished out the new patches and left behind the jeeps, " You're now MAHG 4th Division, Special Jeep Service. Enjoy the rides, bud."

As the sun began to set for the, newly equipped and labeled, 2nd and 3rd MAHG SJS Companies, drove off at a easy, quick cruise. They would make a haste to the 1st Company, at least getting there by dawn...
---------------------
The Republican Navy has never really seen true combat, the surprisingly happy soldiers running about inside and outside the Destroyers. "GENERAL CALL, ALL MEN BATTLE STATIONS, BUTTON UP." And a furry of excitement began. Soon after, an Exocet Launcher from each Destroyer opened, the smoke trail following a zooming, sea-skimming missile, directed in the area of the proposed warships, the Captains praying they'd find a good mark.
---------------------
With 6 hours to go, the MRAF hastened to get to the deadline, The Fighters and Strike-Fighters were physically ready to scramble, yet all systems to help them achieve operable combat were offline. The Tech Support of the Air Branch working diligently.

The headquarters for the Asphodel factory defensive operation was a quiet place, as the mix of hired mercenaries and the black uniformed Asphodel special forces. The leader of the operation, Johan, a tall man with a lined face and bright, active eyes, stood in the center of the room. His eyes moved from screen to screen, picking up the information flowing in from the battlefield. There was maddeningly little. Although the two crest type attack helicopters were filling in the blanks, their flight paths hampered their vision, for better or for worse.

A radio beeped, a long tone that filled the quiet space. The operator picked up a headset, listening to it for a split second before looking up at the commander. "We have an incoming message from the Montarcian army."

Johan waved dismissively, still watching the reports from the infantry flicker through the screen. "What do they want?"

"They want a ceasefire so they can extricate civilians."

"Deny it. Our job is to buy time so everyone can be extricated by those two cruisers, so try to bait them as long as possible." He turned to the commanders of the infantry forces stationed around the factory. "Get the soldiers further in, have them draw up heavy weapons positions, we will likely get mortar fire soon, maybe artillery."

In the command bridge of Flowing Wind, Captain Hamija watched as three smoke trails streaked across the sky, hazy from distance. Exocets from the look of it, way off target. A blind fire most likely. However, they seemed to have straight courses, aimed at the last known position before Montarcan radar had dropped off. A small smile crept over his face. Clearly the enemy were inexperienced. The sounds of their approach were starting to register on the passive sonars of the naval mines, and one by one the dropped mines lit up from the contact. "Fire off three Type-99 Missiles in the course of the exocets. It'll take some guesswork as we only have the smoke trails, just eyeball it. Set them on a roundabout course as well. We can't give away our position yet."

"Roger." The weapons officer stated, flicking the switches set to prime the deadly weapons. A roar filled the air, and the bridge grew dark. As the smoke from the launches cleared, Hamija turned to look over the ocean, at the sleek form of their sister ship as she plowed ahead. As of now, everything was proceeding on schedule.

Mika Himiruji sat in the pilot's seat of the Crest, moving the agile craft among the buildings of the factory. She had found her spot. It was a wide avenue, just large enough for her to squeeze through the tall factory buildings. The perfect cover for an attack helicopter like the Crest, now, to plot her course. Pulling up a topography map of the area, she noted the lack of cover. The sprint from the factory to the treeline would take at least 10 seconds, a long time for a craft like the Crest. Once she was clear though, she could wreck havoc.

She looked around. A conspicuous absence of the other attack helicopter. Looking down at the weapons operator, she called out; "Hey Sanjez, seen 114?" The tail number of the other helicopter.

The young man nodded. "They split off as we entered the factory. I think they're taking a low flight to outflank their defenses."

Mika sighed. No telling how that would work out. "Well then, let's see how the Montarcians react. I doubt they think we're attack craft, since they didn't shoot at sight." The thought of her sleek craft being mistaken by the enemy brought a smile to her face, and she awaited the next order with enthusiasm.
