Hi everyone! I encourage you all to vote FOR the recent WA Resolution to limit INHUMANE weaponry!

page=ga

The cot corporation says "Although the resolution has sparked much controversy, I believe that this telegram will resolve many of the problems. [Some say] Oh, this will stop small nation's militaries from defending!" or "We can't use these on the battlefield!?" This is not the case, do not fear! Here's why:

As the proposal states: 4. Prohibits the use of inhumane weaponry in all situations where lethal force would also be prohibited;

As far as I know, lethal force is not prohibited in the military - so don't worry, you're fine!

Many people have been questioning the usefulness of this resolution, whether or not it really achieves anything. It certainly does! The resolution, like so many people in our real world, seeks to end needless suffering, to end the over-violent oppression of civilians (Take note: Pepper spray and water cannons etc. are not affected), and to end the widespread use of weapons that cause harm for harm's sake."

Except "5. Mandates that member nations cease development of, trade in, and funding of inhumane weaponry." So we can use our outdated, rusty limb-loppers all we want, but we can't develop or fund "any weaponry solely designed to maim" or "[inflict] ... a permanent major injury or disability". This precludes the possibility of making better, safer, more precise weapons of that nature, more humane versions of what has been labeled "inhumane weaponry". Any research under this blanket becomes criminal, despite its intent or function.
The resolution may seek to prevent barbarism, but it instead promotes ignorance.
