Due to time concerns, this is my submission for the #EasterCardContest, featuring mostly cards which have the easter egg icon on them.

Hi, welcome to the West Pacific. Please have a read of our New Player’s Guide for dome hints and tips on how to play the game.

Thought you were a new nation - should’ve checked before posting.

lol

BBD, Thank you for the wonderful informative post. I have two sun related questions, if you don’t mind.

My pleasure, glad you enjoy them.

The Wasp Nest wrote: What are the chances of a future CME like the Carrington Event happening again?

Current estimates of probability is once every 500 years or so. A half-strength Carrington about once every 50 years.

The Wasp Nest wrote: Why do the sun and moon have the same apparent size in our sky? Is it just a happy coincidence that solar eclipses occur, or did some gravitational effect cause an exact apparent size duplication during the formation of the Solar System?

It is a happy coincidence that at the present time the angular diameter of the Moon is almost exactly the same as the Sun’s. Tidal forces have moved the Moon further out from the Earth and continue to do so. Our present theories of lunar formation have the Moon coalescing much, much closer to the Earth. Total eclipses will stop in about 650 million years time, give or take a bit. :)

RelentlessPirates - no double posting thank you, especially a post that is as devoid of meaning as your suppressed one was.

Im surprised its monday already. Felt like yesterday since the last punday monday

Thanks for the entry! I'm glad someone went for the idea of collecting cards with Easter egg badges.

Greetings! I am Emera, a traveler working on a travel guide and I decided to stop here to add The West Pacific to my guide after a recommendation, I will be staying a little while before moving on, most likely a day or two, a few hours before I move on I will be asking for suggestions on where to go next, if you guys give me suggestions you will be mentioned in my travel guide! I know this is a lot but I am truly excited to be here

I keep randomly shouting out “Broccoli” and “Cauliflower” – I think I might have Florets.

My dad has suggested that I register for a donor card. He’s a man after my own heart.

I needed a password eight characters long so I picked Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

Hedgehogs – why can’t they just share the hedge?

#pundayMonday

Edit: New Sta Naturdere - keep travelling.

Bhang Bhang Duc wrote:The Great American Total Solar Eclipse
On April 8 a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible from a large part of the continental United States as well as parts of Mexico and Canada.....

I think our own Darkesia got to see the last American eclipse in 2017 and for this one both Yy4u and Westwind have said they live on the path of totality. So, if you do decide to go and see it (and I would encourage anyone who can to do so) it’s party time at their places afterwards.

Hmmmm. Eclipse Party, eh?

As yet, no one has requested lodging at Westwind's Royal Palace for the eclipse.

The current local Eclipse forecast is for 2 minutes and 41 seconds of totality in the front yard, and about the same in the back yard. With two weeks to go, there is currently a 43% chance of clouds.

For parties, there are three days of concerts in town on the Arkansas River for the Eclipse. But if you want more totality, try Hot Springs. They are also having concerts the day of the Eclipse and will experience the full length of totality. The state is expecting it's population to increase by 50% for the Eclipse, and is preparing for the associated traffic congestion, and the possibility of gas stations running out of fuel. Two-thirds of Arkansas is in the path of totality.

The Zoo is having an eclipse event, so you can share your totality experience with the reactions of the animals there. With the woods behind my house, I'll have plenty of wildlife reactions here.

If that's not the kind of wildlife you like, there is also a 'one of a kind event' Eclipse Circus performing during totality.

(Edit: About that party, it is true that "Westwind's personal home is one of Equilism's most notorious party destinations," according to NationStates.)

Can’t wait for the eclipse as my hometown is in the path of totality.

I might actually catch it if we head up to Charlotte.

I would wholeheartedly recommend that if Charlotte is not too far away.

Spray it, don’t say it.

It's only an hour from Columbia. Plus, we've got family up there, so it's totally worth it.

I couldn't vote as we use the Bog Roll lying around in suitable places technique. Works well and avoids skinning our hips on a wall holder in our narrow bog.
Cost - approx 3 rolls dropped in the bowl per year.

BBD could you shield electronics from Carrington events?

Wickedly evil people wrote:BBD could you shield electronics from Carrington events?

Faraday cage would do it. Of more concern is electric power cables, transformers etc. The major fluctuations in the Earth’s magnetic field would induce currents in them, possibly causing burnouts.

Telegraph stations during the Carrington event ran without batteries and used the magnetically induced currents for power.
