Dorles

The Republic of Dorles is a country in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Located on the Dorlesian Islands.

Geography

Dorles comprises four islands, mostly hilly. There are narrow belts of low mountains, the highest peak being the inactive volcano Łysa Góra (2,392 m).The largest city is Mechowce – the capital, on Ścianowa Island – 1.4 million inhabitants (July 2026), the second largest city is Limelciowo (864,000 inhabitants).The islands have a Mediterranean climate. The average temperature range during the warm season is 33°C and rainfall is 6.2 mm. The average temperature range during the cold season is 16°C and rainfall is 178 mm.The islands' landscape is largely urbanized, with limited agricultural land (primarily cattle grazing). Forests are found primarily in mountainous areas, where the most abundant plant species is the Casuarina , whose branches provide shelter for the blue macaw, the archipelago's most numerous endemic species.

History

The islands were discovered in 1674 by Lechicki explorer Andrzej Lipski. Lechistan established its sovereignty over them in 1708. In 1714, Moczywór Mechowicki founded the first colony on the islands (Port Mechowy).In the following years, cattle breeding, textile production, and exotic timber production flourished on the island. A turning point in the islands' development came with the discovery of iron deposits in 1813 and gold in 1834, which led to the dynamic development of the metallurgical industry on the archipelago.In 1891, Dorles gained dominion status, which allowed for the establishment of a self-governing government on the islands. The island's first governor was Czesław Kondziela, who founded the University of Mechowice and commissioned the construction of a railway and shipyard.During the Great Wars, Dorles was primarily engaged in the export of metals, fabrics, and boatbuilding materials to Lechistan. Due to the weakening of Lechistan's canopy in this region, Dorles gained independence in 1953. A year later, a constitution was adopted and democratic elections were held, won by Siemowit Lenczyk.The result of the economic crisis of the 1990s, stemming from dwindling natural resources and a sudden shift in the international arena, was that in 2004, the government of President Karol Ropczyc decided to implement an economic reform known as the "Great Consolation," which involved shifting the state economy away from unprofitable heavy industry and toward services and tourism.The reform was successful, making the islands a popular tourist destination. Furthermore, the IT industry is developing there. In 2021, an event called [Removed] occurred. In 2026, a new constitution was announced, which is expected to be the next stage of state reforms.

Political system

Dorles has a unicameral parliament with 150 members. It is elected every four years by popular vote. The leader of the main parliamentary group is usually elected prime minister and head of government. The head of state is the president, elected every five years by parliament.

Economy and industry

The economy of Dorles is based mainly on tourism, IT industry, the production of dairy products and the weaving industry, where the most famous product is Dorles linen baskets.
