Hats are adjustable, some are one size fits all. I do not see how we could not fit a hat over a whole nation.
It seems, my friend, you have not met my head. All those adjustable hats and one size fits all find little purchase upon my cranium. What purchase they do find makes me look quite daft.
Also a hat the size of a nation would collapse under its own weight. It tis MADNESS to continue further. MADNESS!

What did you pick on the poll, and why?
The sun hat, because I am not a fan of strong sunlight. I like hats in general however, and own quite a range, from caps and fedoras to fezzes and Asian conical hats, and even a kettle helm.
I am strongly opposed to the mere existence of hats. hats simply do not fit my head, without being comically oversized or comical by design.
I look daft in a baseball cap no matter the adjustment. With it resembling those undersized propeller hats in cartoons.
Bucket hats, even if they would fit, are not my style.
Bowler hats, while cool, also do not fit my head and in the movie The Robinsons a man in a bowler hat caused undo stress to a TRex self conscious of his tiny arms.
Party hats hurt my head due to the strink keeping it on my head, so is only good for comical purpose because comedy is pain.
Sun hats? Not really my style and even if it does fit my freakishly large head I do not have a field of flowers nearby to wade through, which I feel is a requirement.
Top hats are the epitome of hats, but I have never found one so is not an option.
I have worn a cowboy hat with a black cape during my first date with my now wife... if only they were more socially acceptable outside of Texas.
Therefore the only logical option is all hats should be burned at the brim until dead.

I like a number of different types of hats, but chose to go with top hats. They're quite pleasant and interesting, including particular types of steampunk top hats. The ones with interesting patterns.

Well, I have a crab hat, and while it’s prone to falling off, I kind of love it. All of you are mistaken, as it is bracelets that are the true menace.

I've worn some hats. Right now I like baseball-style black hats with the blue Detroit Lions logo on the front. The kind you can pull half way down the middle of your cranium so you look like a deranged interplanetary goggle-eyed leprechaun from Oak Park.
