I naturally want to listen to them because they sound very good even though I shouldn't for every time I do so they get slightly more diluted than the time previous. It is like when you buy very expensive but good tasting food, you want to eat it all in one go for it brings immense temporary warmth to the soul but once the warmth cools off then the famine sets in and you realise you should have spread your consumption over a period of time to maximise the effect on the soul.

i’m pretty sure the word for this sort of thing is a walloway, something of importance to you that slowly loses what makes it special each time you interact with it
but yeah ive been there before

Truly one of the worst plagues on this earth is when a great song loses spirit and soul.

I tried to not let this happen too much to some of the Pink Floyd songs which I held in a high regard but I do fear many have lost a substantial amount of spirit and soul. Still of course they are to be held in a high regard but unfortunately much of it has inevitably been lost. I do fear I am now repeating this cycle with Scenes from a Memory even though I keep swearing I will not I cannot resist the urge to keep listening to the album. Unfortunately this cycle seems to be a fact of life that must always come true, for a song can hold onto its spirit forever not.

Sure must have been real exciting …

no :(

Also, btw, I think Soppo drops tomorrow

I feel like if I listened to more stuff it might prolong the spirits, but unfortunately I usually listen to whatever song is on my mind, which is never one I haven’t heard before. And so the cycle continues.

New Flag Alert! And A Message From Horrorlandian State's Ministry Of Culture:

Horrorlandian State Wishes All Catholics And Christians A Very Peaceful And Thoughtful Feast Day Of Pope Saint Cornelius And Saint Cyprian, 2026

Pope Cornelius (Greek: Κορνήλιος) was the bishop of Rome from 6th or 13th March 251 until his martyrdom in June 253. He was pope during and following a period of persecution of the church, while a schism occurred over how repentant church members who had practiced pagan sacrifices to protect themselves could be readmitted to the church. He agreed with Cyprian of Carthage that those who had lapsed could be restored to communion after varying forms of Reinitiation and Penance. This position was in contrast to the Novatianists, who held that those who failed to maintain their confession of faith under persecution would not be received again into communion with the church. This resulted in a short-lived schism in the Church of Rome that spread as each side sought to gather support. Cornelius held a synod that confirmed his election and excommunicated Novatian, but the controversy regarding lapsed members continued for years.

Saint Cyprian (/ˈsɪpriən/; Latin: Thascius Caecilius Cyprianus; ca. 210 to 14 September 258 AD[1]) was a bishop of Carthage and an early Christian writer of Berber descent, many of whose Latin works are extant. He is recognized as a saint in the Western and Eastern churches.

To commemorate this day, we have changed our flag. We are also sending palm trees as symbols of peace to all nations on NationStates.

🙏 🕊A Prayer For The Feast Days Of Pope Sant Cornelius And Saint Cyprian 🙏🕊:

🙏 🕊 God our Father, in Saints Cornelius and Cyprian you have given your people an inspiring example of dedication to the pastoral ministry and constant witness to Christ in their suffering. May their prayers and faith give us courage to work for the unity of your Church. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

(from The Roman Missal) 🙏 🕊

Goodnight fellow scallywags!

NationStates Basics
New to NationStates? This section's for you. Here we'll quickly cover the basic mechanics of the game. For a full breakdown of the website's rules, check out the One Stop Rules Shop: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=260044

Issues, Factbooks & Roleplay
Issues & Dispatches/Factbooks are the main way you get to control your nation, and show NationStates what it's all about.

Issues are NationStates' bread and butter. It's how you make decisions about how your nation should work. Issues cover a wide range of topics (there are over 1600 in the game) and are how you change your nation's policies, government, economy and stats. In the beginning, issues come thick and fast, but this pace slows down and issues will eventually come every 6 hours. When you answer an issue, you also have a chance to generate a trading card pack. Opening it yields 5 random trading cards which are added to your deck. Trading cards are a collectibles minigame on NationStates.

Dispatches and Factbooks are how you can write about your nation history, it's where you can add anything you want (within site rules) to flesh out what you want your nation to be. Player dispatches range from detailed backgrounds of how their nation was formed, to recounts of elections or newspaper articles, it's entirely up to you. Each dispatch can be upvoted or downvoted using the arrows in the top right corner.

World Assembly
The World Assembly is NationStates' version of the United Nations. It hosts two chambers, the Security Council & the General Assembly. The General Assembly writes and votes on laws that impact how you govern your nation. Each resolution passed has a small impact on your nations stats. The General Assembly, however, does not affect how you may do things in your own nation. You can still roleplay however you want - it only has a small impact on your stats. The Security Council by contrast focusing on the recognition of people and regions through commendations and condemnations, and has the power to intervene in what regions can do using Liberations & Injunctions.

In both chambers every World Assembly member gets to vote for or against the proposal, or you could choose to not vote at all. In addition to that, World Assembly Delegates play an important role as on top of their vote they get an extra vote for every nation that's endorsing them. In regions like ours, where our citizenry generally decides how the Delegate votes, that gives the entire region more power.

If you'd like to learn more about the World Assembly, please read our deep dive found here.

Frequently Asked Questions
For a significantly longer list of FAQs, please visit this forum thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=338766.

  • Q: "Can I have multiple nations?"
A: Yes, you can have as many as you want, but only one can be in the World Assembly at any time.

  • Q: "How do I increase my population?"
A: Population increases naturally over time, increasing once per day. The exact figures for how much it increases by varies based on your existing population, and with a little bit of RNG thrown in.

  • Q: "Can I be ejected from here?"
A: Yes, you can. Despite being the Rejected Realms, we have the ability to eject and ban nations - we just almost never use it.
