Chief of Staff of the Royal Haliczan Army generał (General) Piotr Kozłowski was found dead in his flat in Halicz last Tuesday. The cause of his death had been heart attack. Kozłowski would've probably survived it, if he had received the much needed help swiftly. Unluckily, he had been living on his own after his wife Anastazja died 4 years ago. Generał Kozłowski had been the Chief of Staff for an exceptionally long period of time and had directed the modernisation programme of the Royal Haliczan Army. A state funeral will be held on the 11th of August.

Generał Kozłowski's death caused considerable shifts in the upper echelons of the Haliczan Armed Forces. Naturally, His Majesty Stefan I had to designate his successor. The officer chosen was generał piechoty (General of infantry) Hubert Barlicki, former commander of the elite 1st 'Halicz' Mechanised Division. Furthermore, the Flying Corps Commander generał korpusu lotniczego (Air corps general) Jan Petelicki resigned and went into reserve with the official reason being his bad health. It's obvious to many that generał Kozłowski's death was the cause, seeing as generał Petelicki was only 3 years younger than the late Chief of Staff. The new Flying Corps Commander has yet to be chosen.
