The mashriq khilafat

Royal Palace of Riyadh
5 April 2021

The Council has gathered at the Royal Palace, following the fall of Aden to the radicals. Today, they're accompanied by the Prime Minister as well as the Leader of Opposition.

"So, what do we do?" asks the Emir of Qatar. "Invade and occupy Yemen or just provide military support to the existing government?"

"Your Highness, we could do either," says the Leader of Opposition. "There are only around four million people in the country, so it would be relatively easy to establish a presence there."

"And the oil fields in Yemen are of great importance to our economy," adds the Prime Minister. "Socialist Yemen is an enormous market for our oil and gas. If we don't help the government, the war will devastate the country, and that'll have an impact on the price of our resources."

"The country might fall to complete anarchy," the Emir of Dubai points out. "It's not like we can just send in a few special forces to establish a presence. The people there need our help, otherwise they'll all be dead, of famine, disease, or maybe what not caused by the war."

"Which is why we must propose an expeditious military intervention to save the Yemeni people from genocide," says the Emir of Abu Dhabi. "The Mashriq military could launch a full scale invasion of the country and occupy it within a few months. The Yemeni people would welcome us as liberators."
"The Yemeni people have suffered enough under the socialist regime, and now under the radical Islamists. We need to send in a military force to topple his regime and bring freedom and democracy to the country."
"The creation of the Mashriq Caliphate was to unify the Arab world under one banner. Mashallah, this is a golden opportunity, and we must seize upon it."

"Inshallah that is true, but I have a better idea." chimes in the Emir of Najd. "Wouldn't it be better if we had talks with the new government first, and ask what them what they want? We can propose to include Yemen under the Islamists into the Caliphate as an autonomous state, and very well reinstate them as the leaders of Southern Yemen, if we so desire."

"That would be disastrous. Supporting an Islamist rebel group will heavily damage our international image, not to mention, they could very well demand for a unified Yemen under themselves." states the Emir of Muscat.

"It may be true that the rebels are more similar in ideology to us than the original government." says the Caliph.
"However, providing support to any one side at this moment could be risky. I propose we monitor the situation for now, and as suggested, send a diplomat to Aden."

As the meeting disperses, the Caliph gets up and walks to his royal chambers.
There was no doubt that whichever side the Caliphate was to support would emerge victorious.
And irrespective of whichever side did win, this was going to be a long, long war.
