    | COMMUNIST TAKEOVER IN RUSSIA 'WORRYING', SAYS PRESIDENT ERDOGAN, HINTING AT POSSIBLE DISTANCING OF TURKEY-RUSSIA RELATIONS

Since the birth of the Eurasian Federation of Soviet States, the Republic of Turkey has so far remained relatively silent on the issue, refusing to acknowledge, recognize, or push away the new communist regime up north. In recent years relations between Ankara and Moscow have been relatively friendly and cordial, thanks to the willingness of both sides to cooperate and engage in fruitful bilateral diplomatic dialogue. When the communist regime took power late last year, President Erdogan and the Turkish Government made no moves to even speak of the new government in Moscow, aside from some hints dropped in both Recep Tayyip Erdogan's re-alignment of Turkey's partnerships and the unveiling of Turkey's Western-focused foreign policy agenda for 2027.

It was only on January 15, 2027 that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, formally addressed the nation's legislature, the unicameral Grand National Assembly, on the establishment of a 'socialist and possibly hostile' government in Moscow. The legislators cheered from their seats in the Assembly's AKP-dominated main chamber as President Erdogan approached the podium to speak before a joint session of the Grand National Assembly, which was only usually called during times of crisis, emergency, or when an issue arose before the nation.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey

"Prestigious Members of the Grand National Assembly. Peoples of the Republic of Turkey. Today, I come before you all with a New Years' greeting and, more importantly, a statement to our Nation. The year of 2027 is upon us. We approach the third decade of this century rapidly, and our great Republic progresses swiftly towards the achievement of its goals both at home and abroad. However, I have not come before you all today to speak on our Nation's accomplishments and goals. Today I speak before you to address the newly-established Eurasian Federation of Soviet States, led by a socialist and potentially hostile regime in Moscow. As all of you may know, the Turkish Republic has rarely had close and cordial relations with this communist state's predecessor, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. With the inauguration of a hardliner as Moscow's head of state, we might be able to expect a similar sense of hostility from this new Federation. This takeover by extremist far-left elements is extremely worrying in the eyes of not just Turkey but the world. Communism is a dead ideology, which has no place on the face of this planet. Its spread starves millions and destabilizes global and regional peace. We will actively work with our Allies and Partners to ensure global peace and stability is ensured. Nonetheless, I would like to affirm that the Republic of Turkey - while for the moment is extremely hesitant - is willing to open diplomatic relations and potentially recognize the new Federation. While we will actively maneuver to protect both our interests and the interests of the free world, we are not completely closed to the possibility of cooperating with the Russians to achieve this goal. Thank you, happy new year, and may Allah bless us all."

Although President Erdogan's speech was dominated mainly seemingly cold and distrustful speech against the new Eurasian Federation of Soviet States, he also stated at the end that the Republic of Turkey was open to 'cooperating with the Russians to achieve this goal', the goal being ensuring the maintenance of peace, stability and security both regionally and worldwide. President Erdogan's spokesperson affirmed that relations between Turkey and Russia were 'vital' to maintaining regional peace, especially in the 'Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean regions'.
