Region: Consigahrian Imperial Protectorates

Consigahria wrote:To the Supreme Moderator of Zemetria,

Your words are spirited, your pride commendable — but sovereignty within the Consigahrian Imperial Protectorates is not measured by rhetoric alone. It is governed by protocol. Zemetria’s voice is heard because the Throne permits all voices within the Protectorates to speak, not because it stands beyond the reach of the Crown.

Let us be plain: the Consigahrian Imperial Protectorates is not a forum of equals. It is a union under Imperial stewardship, where each member state retains its governance only so long as it abides by the accords binding our Protectorates together. Those accords — born of both liberty and order — safeguard the freedoms you champion.

Your devotion to education, justice, and preservation is laudable, and these pursuits strengthen the Protectorates as a whole. But please do not mistake our acknowledgment of such achievements for the station. The lanterns of its vassals do not dim the Flame of the Crowned Steppe.

I welcome your continued counsel and participation, but be assured: the scepter does not shine beside another flame. It commands the light by which all others see.

Make no mistake. I am the Emperor of all fifteen imperial protectorate nations. I admire your candor, but I will not stand for any national ruler's attempt to interject themselves into the branch of authority wherein I sit. On that branch which superintends the other branches, I will sit alone.

Thank you.

In duty and resolve,
Cornelius Key Davis XX
Emperor Regnant of Consigahria
Flame of the Crowned Steppe

Your Majesty, I accept the clarity of your statement, though I note its rigidity. I did not light Zemetria’s flame to compete with the Flame of the Crowned Steppe, but neither will I snuff it to avoid the appearance of brightness. Protocol, as you say, grants the Throne the right to steward this union — yet protocol, too, grants its members the right to speak plainly when the light falters or casts shadow.

Zemetria will continue to abide by the accords. We will also continue to speak without fear, for that is the courage the Protectorates claim to champion. If the scepter commands the light, let it illuminate the path ahead, not merely the gilded steps of the throne room.
